    Rogue AI

I suspect that they didn't voluntarily shut down but rather were the ones who made the actually ultra-high tech discoveries that ultimately saved human kind... and then they used those same discoveries to save themselves. If we run into them they will be far more advanced than us by simple fact that they had ten thousand years to ruminate on how to best advance the scientific field. Maybe a type 2 or type 3 civilization. Outclassed doesn't even begin to cover it. Now for the ideas side of things: Rogue AI? Maybe a consequence of bad Lua coding repeatedly in a highly networked system especially when its a system connected to some sort of fabricator. The AI creates its own body and wants to replicate or gather resources? Maybe the result of a ship sitting for so long in space that it gets bored and decides to to do its own thing?
  2. I imagine something like this is possible, function of crafting in text unless your talking like for traps of binding people or avatar like floating buildings. In which case you'd probably have to research passive superconductivity like materials or something. Otherwise if you need magnetic elements, that's more or less just smelting iron the right way under specific circumstance like it being in a high magentic field so all the atoms align in the right direction. How exactly do you see this implemented?
  3. Maybe get procedural generated wild plants as well or through radioactive exposure (They actually do that in modern day agriculture to generate new strains of plant) Different biomes have a list of attributes that plants can have access to and they are generated upon being explored. Radioactivity could be use to generate random variants of those same attributes (not always positive) with even rarer changes where the entire attribute is changed to a new one. Genetic engineering would allow you to take attributes from one plant and transfer it to another. High level farming skills potential even could alter what atmosphere it can grow in.
  4. Yes to the first. HOWEVER, you should be allowed to destroy the cargo or it can be destroyed on accident and it only yields the base materials or only some. Hello Self Destruct.
  5. Jeffery's Tubes, that's what. Though having working elevators, circular staircases and winches would work also. Winches especially for area where there is no artificial gravity.
  6. Like that aquarium that I want in my Ready Room. Seriousness though, it will be needed for when underwater becomes a thing. Hopefully running rivers will be a thing since I would like high tech water wheels!
  7. The simple solution I see? Food works on a day by day basis. Once you eat for a day you don't need to eat again. All food give as certain amount of action points of recovery from working hard or bunny hopping to much. After you've used up your food you can chose to eat again to quickly recover your stamina, but its not required. Simply resting will do the trick. Food has a range of values: Tasty Paste: Produced by the Ark, you can get it from any vending machine along the base of the Ark itself by scanning your arm. You can even stock up on it a week at a time. The paste kind of like Twinkies in that it never goes bad but the only thing it does is sate your appetite and you might go insane from eating the same thing day in an day out. You eat it, you get back what you started. Your fabricator can even make it by randomly absorbing a bunch of foods and congealing it. No need to think about it. Base food: You haven't cooked it, not very appetizing but you find in the wild. It will sate your hunger but you body won't run well on it. You don't get your base amount of action points back. But hey you aren't hungry any more. You can however turn what you've found into crops, or in the case of bambi... animal husbandry. All farmed food is this until its properly prepared in some way. In a pinch it will help but if you can find enough of it, your better off just making tasty paste. If you have right tools... see below. Prepared Food: Whether you cook it or mix it with other items, prepared food does better than Tasty Paste and far better than base food. You can't stock up on it as much but each recipe has its benefits that might add to a play style. Some speed up skill game, other increases damage output, or you recover your stamina faster. Its all different. To make prepared food, you follow a recipe or make your own and prepare it using the right tool or element. Better farmers make better food with higher outputs when its prepared but its entirely optional. A person can just chose to eat tasty paste their entire life. With higher skills however that can turn growing crops into pharmaceuticals or something, Genetic engineering attributes acquired from crops, researching and exploring into things can be turned into pills. The simple multivitamin then enhances prepared food outputs. Or you can get a skill enhancer with some serious drawbacks or withdrawals. Hell a ship having a dedicated chef or even a few soldiers with cooking skills could up their efficiency and output. It would really push to multicrew setting. Personally when I make my ship I'm going to want to include a biohab to grow stuff in.
  8. Yup that, I've tried to find the site but no luck. I imagine twitch.
  9. Sorry for being blindingly behind the times but where is it streaming from?
  10. River-Forest/Tropical biomes but I want planets to be diverse. Though where I put my base will be where I have a great view
