    Latest DevDiary shows that entering a planet in the wrong angle causes ship damage - as NQ confirmed it. We can only hope they won't chicken out and will add something like this model.

     

    I think if they continue with this type of approach to the game mechanics it will be overall good for the game. It'll create more specialized gameplay.

  2. imo whoever figures out what will be the "Jita" or "Dalaran" of Dual Universe before everyone else is gonna make a lot of spacebucks :T

     

    Typically it ends up being the place with the most utility in the game as far as npcs or transportation goes, but we arn't going to have npcs and transportation is going to be player made so your guess is as good as mine :D

  3. So... basically a stealth bomber more or less?

    It also has a huge problem: You can easily shoot the rockets off, preventing any sort of damage happening in the first place. 2 really huge weakspots and you just conquered the ship. Maybe add some extra support to the rockets so they don't accidentally "pop-off" due to "extreme exposure to high-velocity bullet".

    I appreciate the criticism thanks :D But I assure you, if you're getting shot at before you fire teh missilez, you've done an exceptionally good job of not piloting a stealth ship correctly.

     

    Sorry if I didn't convey it correctly, but the ship will have a cloaking device XD I wasn't sure how to draw it into the blueprint though since NQ hasn't released the specifics of how they function yet. The ship was designed on the principle that you can't really re-cloak once you've outed your position, so you fire the missiles and just leave instead :P

     

    The missile launchers wouldn't be nearly as expensive to replace as a cloaking device, I would assume.

    SOOPRIZE :D the empty rocket canisters decouple from the ship, and the rockets strapped to them send them flying into the enemies. Now that you don't have to lug around those annoying giant cans, you can do some flips and kool kid tricks and get the heck out of there :D Mission success gj

  6.  Just don't expect to build a battleship on the surface of a planet. That thing will NEVER lift off a planet if you build it on its surface. Your ship will run out of fuel just by trying to clear atmosphere, so, if you want to build big ships, well, you'll have to go to space, where there's no safezones.

     

    But what if there's a detachable component, and you strap a bunch of detachable one-time-use rockets to get the battleship into space :P

  7. That's because they do not allow names smaller then 6 charters. My community portal name is _mefsh_.

     

    I am more worried about my in game name though.

    What are they going to do about in-game names anyway?

     

    Two best approaches imo:

    1. Have 'Firstname Lastname' character names like in Eve

    2. Allow multiples of the same name but include a unique identifier after to differentiate (identifier isn't displayed most of the time, usually only in friends panel or character listings)

     

    The system for the second option has been used most notably by Blizzard (battle.net) and Arenanet (GW2)

    Does that mean that they reserved it? Or does that mean someone else made a free account with my name.

     

    If it is the case that someone else made a free account with my name, if I pledge now will I be able to reserve that name?

  9. Wouldn't in-game religion just be a roleplaying/lore thing?

     

    I don't think there should be any game mechanics made specifically for it, but if people want to RP and write stories on the topic that's fine :D

  10. I think as of right now we don't need any limits on submitting logos. But the problem is, what happens when the game hits 2 Million+ people and everyone and their mother wants to make multiple logos?

    In my opinion there are three viable ways to handle the issue of too many logos (if and when the problem arises)

     

    A. Don't let people create multiple different organizations on their own, and limit each organization to one logo.

    B. Have some type of cost for submitting logos to the server (like what Archeage does).

    C. Get more servers to store the logos and have no restrictions.

     

    Keep in mind that with option C, it also makes it easier for people to abuse the system, spam uploading inappropriate images. Even if the images get reported, NQ staff still have to review those cases and ban appropriately.

     

    I mean if NQ wants to do option C I'm fine with that :P but if it were my company I'd pick option B

  11. Archeage has custom in-game images.

     

    How it works:



    From my understanding, on the first offense of uploading something inappropriate, you get a warning and lose your image along with everything used to make it. Second offense, you get perma-banned. Personally I think that's sufficient as far as blocking things goes, and they've been doing this for a few years now so legally I don't think they've had much trouble with it.
  12. Basically here are a bunch of questions I tried to come up with about vehicle and structure mechanics. If any of these have been answered by NQ already, please let me know :D, otherwise just give what you speculate the answer will be.

     

    In advance, I hope I don't come off as a jerk questioning game mechanics in-depth before the alpha is even out, I'm just curious :P

    1. Will "Vehicles" and "Buildings" be considered separate types of structures in terms of the game's design? EX: Could I make a house and then later strap a bunch of thrusters to it?

     

    2. Referring to question 1, if they are separate types of structures, is there a size limit for vehicles?

     

    3. Will large player built structures have their own orbit if they are massive enough? (This question applies to vehicles too if there's no size limit.)

     

    4. Will logging out as the sole operator of a vehicle cause it to disappear? (like logging out in Eve)
