  1. if DAC are stealable then it will become a physical curency, so much more than just a pass to the game, generating lust and abuses in all the bad ways

For example new players aware of nothing, carying on a fresly aquiered from a Steam promotion package, 20 Dacs without really knowing what it is, but for them just a 2 monthes subscribtion to the game, and loosing them on the first day?

What would long time players say to this new player?

    - Its your fault, you should have read the 20 topics about on the forum and devblog before playing?

    - You must join us on the behalf of our hole mighty organisation we will secure your future 15€ spent?

This topic is a joke right?

How would NQ reach 100 thousands players if the 5000 first players from alpha already planning to literrally scare the shit out their pants the  995 000 that will join at realease

Be realistic and stop thinking you are already the Emperor of the Universe, but do compromises for this game to be THE game that will fit a majority not a minority

YOu are absolutely right on all of your points. But did you read my alternative solution to this. It would protect those "noobs" from this and still allow for dacs to be used within the game as an item that has a risk of being lost. I will let you read my post.

  2. Honestly the best way would be to have them digital until you want to use or sell them, then they become physical, a smart seller would protect them until they are collected and a smart buyer wouldnt buy too many rand risk loosing in game currency when they are stolen. No risk to the original transaction this way (from the sellers point of view)

  3. Say bye bye to the concept of banks though, cause money is also digital and can't be dropped on death. Also, say bye bye to mercenaries hired to protect people delivering DACs to buyers as well. In general, bye bye to much of the emergent gameplay. So yeah, it's quite a big deal.

Yea money being digital means only physical goods can be stolen and sold for digital money. The dev stating that DAC's will pretty much also be digital as well. there is 2 precious commodities that we wont need protection for.

Edit: Someone said something about eve system, they are digital until they are loaded into your account inventory for use. This means you can store excess digitally and only move or activate what you need. If you sell them they can be stolen up until the buyer uses them meaning no loss of real money for either player but a loss of digital currency for the buyer.

  4. As I mentioned I dont disagree with what you have said I do think there should be a way of protecting your investments but it should have it's own limitations. Including just a few.

"Copyright" on 1 planet or solar system should not necessarily effect another Planet or Solarsystem and doing so should have an additional cost making it very expensive to cover the entire universe meaning building "the best ship" makes it worth protecting and can be sold at a price that represents this cost.

Building a great ship may only need to be copyrighted in the best markets.

My point is putting to many scripted systems in place without limitations on them means the game also puts restrictions on players that don't want to "play fair" and too few means the market crashes supporting the pay to win model.

Thats why i suggest a solar system model that again if someone has the skills can be circumvented but someone with less skills would be left with an inferior model or even a tagged model. Building it outside the copyright zone may mean it wont be tagged but lower skills would mean it is still inferior.

Above is just an example my main point is that too many scripted systems puts restrictions on 1 side of gameplay that many players would enjoy.

  5. The universe is a hazardous place and without the right tools to survive on a somewhat inhospitable planet one is unlikely to do so. Here is what i propose as just a few.

Heat - Some planets/zones are just too hot to survive outside a ship without proper heat protection a player with high enough skills should be able to craft suits or shields so they can take advantage of this. Building a base there would require more energy to keep the base cool.

    Cold - Same as heat

Radiation - From a crashed ark ship/aliens perhaps or a planet with a large amount of radioactivity.

Poor Atmosphere - Kind of a combination of the above. I am sure there are more but I leave it open for discussion.

Advantages provides a more unique gameplay and opportunities to have rarer resources here but they will be more difficult to get.

Maintaining a base here will be more difficult and costly but if managed would mean it is more difficult to attack and raid successfully.

  6. On Vorengards point I have to agree but let's take this point....

Builder/Industrialist of say level 3 stats across the board produces a ship.

Builder/Industrialist of level 3 stats across the board buys the blueprint, He has the materials to reproduce the ship he has the skills in game why would he not be able to produce a ship of equal quality.

  7. I do have to disagree somewhat with this  yea sure you could have copyrighting but i disagree that it should be a scripted thing and if it is, It should have a cost.

The cost should be relative to it's size and number of resources needed to craft that ship. If you can afford to build a ship that can only be compared with Chuck Norris. You can probably afford to copyright it.

But like anything people with decent skills in building and industrialism should have a way of reverse engineering that copyright as well. Prime example Intel reverse engineered Hyper Threading from a project AMD was working on which allowed them to pull so far ahead in the processor market.

It's a single shard universe with multiple planets what about stealing a blueprint and taking it to another planet which may well be a different market (dev dependent of course) should the copyright still exist there I think not, especially as copyright law is somewhat country dependent.

  8. For possibly my "closing comments" on this thread if you wanna hang out with some people pre launch on Discord/TS and discuss the game and future plans.

If you enjoy the pirates life or even if you are a builder, an industrialist or a space pilot, come check us out here . We have some projects (wip like the game) in mind that you might enjoy and from my experience so far a pretty laid back group. If you want law, order and direction then perhaps we are not for you.

  9. Based on the radius of the sphere it has a circumference  of about 94km. Based on the UK example thats about the distance from York to Manchester. Or about 1 hour 20 minutes drive at 70MPH as the crow flys. Walking thats about 20 hours to walk all the way around.

Lets look at this another way if they all stand 6.3 meters apart they should be able to get all the way around the planets circumference.

From a beta perspective that's acceptable.

Lets say 100x more play on the games release date. yea it will be a little cramped and the 20km safezone will feel pretty small but it is still gonna take an individual 2.5 hours (based on the ark being the center) to get out of the safe zone by walking.

Edit: By unlocking vehicles you could get around to the other side in likely less than 30 minutes depending on their top speed.

  10. I know Boo was mentioned in this somewhere I recently joined boo myself, One of the reasons for that was there single rule of no griefing, We are all here to have fun so dont go out to ruin someone elses. Building a wall around someones base and charging him to get out if done once is somewhat funny doing it multiple times to the same player well i guess that might constitute griefing.
