  1. Beta is still very long time away though..... I have some but I don't want to give them to strangers who ask for free stuff. Gl finding someone
  2. Imho nothing should be sold for rl money (except maybe customizeable appearances). It is p2w if you can just buy a unit which helps you "defend" indefinitly by just hiding on some moon and bring all your stuff there which then cant be taken/Destroyed by anyone else. Also. Its only semantics so who cares xD
  3. Then please don't "beat" me up ingame with your market skills either. Cause That's pvp too and I can't defend myself. And it's not fun for me
  4. There are 0 sanctuary tiles on alioth. Also, buying them for RL money would go against their p2w ideology. STUs are used on MSA, not ASA
  5. I doubt you know what's fun for me or not, tyvm. Du isn't wow, it's more like eve in that regard. Some can't even hit a frigate there even though it's leveled too....and some hit it very well. Why? Because this kind of pvp isn't so much about player skill (hitting, doing dmg, all that stuff) but more about tactics and understanding mechanics to use them to get an edge. Everything else is leveled ofc, because it's only computed values. And skills or levels don't rly add that much to anyone char either. It's not wow, again. Skills give you an edge and an advantage, but never stop anyone from hitting you entirely. Non issue. If you don't want to train such skills, fine. But thats not an argument in any way. I for example won't have ANY building, mining, crafting skills (if I play DU At all that is). And plenty of ppl will have combat skills too because they want to experience stuff and not fall asleep from boredom (bam, thats my assumption xD)
  6. Omg run, a big eve knower here who outsmarted everyone here xD Circle jerking meanwhile, so I won't respond anymore even tho you'll see it as a "win"
  7. there are lots of EVE players here All we can say here: watch the videos about their server tech demo and the latest AMA (podcast). Everything else is NDA. CPU with AVX is the most important stuff you need and a good internet connection helps too ofc As in EVE - new orgs can ofc make it, even when founded later. The focus in DU is heavily on teamwork so an org is always a good idea your money, your choice. Won't give you any advice here. Just keep in mind that you can build everything
  8. After release, yes. In alpha you have to pay for it. Once there is beta, someone might give you a key to play the beta though
  9. Not really needed to do that when there are lots of resources in the ground - depends all on balancing that. I don't really like respawning resources either, doesn't help the game at all imho and only crashes prices, doesn't add any gameplay and only may increase botting.
  10. DU has a homemade server system as others already said - with such come some limitations ofc (only lock and fire, no simulated bullets, no "real" physics calculations - stuff might float if you just mine underneath it for example, and so on). But this allows for massive amounts of players - you can't have both imho. Millions of players with simulated bullets won't work well - see EVE for that. EVE did massive battles first with 5k + ppl shooting each other. It worked, but was slow af (TIDI). And this only worked 15years ago because it's lock and fire too with no simulated bullets. see EVE again - all player run too. I don't really see a problem if some players/orgs have a monopoly on something. That's just how it is in RL too.... It's WAY BETTER imho if everything is controlled by players and NPCs don't impact the market in any way - makes up for interesting gameplay (scamming, playing the markets, earning money with margin trading,....) the game doesn't and shouldn't deal with that. Don't like what someone builds? shoot it - talk to him - ignore it. Why should the game care if you like something or not. Do something about it yourself. This isn't something any game should do imho As I already pointed out, the server tech itself has limitations (thus allowing massive amounts of ppl). For example if you mine underneath a mountain it'll just float and not come crashing down. Same with ships - if you shoot a hole in a ship it's still one entity and even "detached" parts act as if it's still connected. But for flying physics it's a different story - watch the vids and have a look at the HUD there - there's drag, gravity, thrust, cross section,..... lots of variables to consider when building and flying a ship. In atmo or in space PVP (or combat) is one main pillar of DU. See https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2018/01/30/our-toughts-on-territory-protection-mechanics/ for more info about safezones and what they do. You can claim hexes of any planet by using Territory Control Units, thus enabling RDMS there for your org. If you manage to take more than one tile you may protect the central one with a shield too, so if others attack you, they first have to take out the surrounding TCUs. How this all works has to be seen later on, for now all we know is: CvC comes in january. The risks of doing PVP not only involves losses but also may include being excluded from player run markets, bounties on your head, ppl not selling you stuff, other large orgs (police orgs or w/e) hunting you and destroying your bases and so on. Players make the laws here - there is no game mechanic/law system besides the safe zone. It's all up to players
  11. https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2018/01/30/our-toughts-on-territory-protection-mechanics/ You can mine and trade in safezones but as always: risk vs reward. You won't find any high tier material inside safezones only the basic stuff
  12. Pointless topic rly with AvA pushed back to post release. Maybe better to come back to this in 2years
  13. If a prison ever was introduced I would jail everyone I see just for fun just to prove my point of how awful such a system would be. And believe me, I wouldn't be the only one to do that (others may even don't because they want those tears). Only because an org is big or has some reputation doesn't mean they should get access to unique mechanics. Either ALL ppl have access to something or NOONE. That's probably even a worse idea than a prison Very fun to imprison ppl and holding them off from playing for which they PAY MONEY. Kkthxbai
  14. I rly don't know where to start here. If I'm paying some company (xolla) and they don't resolve my issue after 3 days then I would call them and escalate it to someone who is in charge. If they don't do anything after some calls, then just retract the payment (call your bank). And just in case call my lawyer to be on the safe side.
  15. Sounds like all those boring, useless, random, unfun, Theme Park mmos out there. If du ever gets there, I'll burn all my accs for good and leave it for good. This is not what du is about and it's not what will be in the game (npcs) for a long time after release.
  16. That's why rdms is way better. In eve you can't even properly control rights for ppl living in a wh because there are only 4 roles and you don't want a random newb accessing your starbase fuel. DU is NOT eve and we get tools to make it easier. That's why eve sucks so hard and ppl get burn out, bevause the tools there suck And the following Wall of text. Read up on AMA and MSA zones. That's like 2000000000000% better than any sec status bs. And I always stated that for all I care the AMA/MSA can be a whole system for new ppl to test the game and see if they like it or not. The rest of your post is only about eve and really has no impact whatsoever on du because you're talking about different things here
  17. Only when the servers are up. There is no offline tool. You can check uptimes here https://www.dualthegame.com/en/server-status/
  18. They have had that in mind with their ks campaign, dunno if it's still a thing though. It would be very cool to have it but it's not something you can "just add" into the game. You need very different mechanics, UI, controld,... for VR
  19. It's not speed which impacts ramming the most, it's mass. So ppl could find a way to build somewhat fast ships which can't be shot that easily (no fps twitch combat, DU is based off of formulas which determine if you hit or not) and still do lots of damage via ramming. At some point in the game all resource requirements are no big deal. 1.000.000 quanta, ore or whatever might be a HUGE deal to get in the first years of DU, but won't neccessarily be "a lot of resources" after a year or 2. It's not that anything becomes cheaper but everything will be mire accessible. Edit" so simply stating "it can be balanced via tons of X" doesn't work that well once du runs for some time
  20. Not having ramming imgame isn't because of weapons of mass destruction but because you can kill large ships with cheap ones with nearly no effort, except manpower. Not having automated turrets and only a tuned down version (less dmg and less accuracy) isn't because of fast moving ships but because of balancing issues. If ppl can build bombs. They will do it. And at some point, no matter the initial cost, it'll be cheap so they will just throw them around.
  21. see RDMS - every market owner can restrict orgs/players/groups/alliances to trade there and get equipment they need. Yes there are alts. Yes it's hard to block a griefer 100%. But it makes his life harder nonetheless. And he will we red to anyone living there anyway. Don't rly know what's not to understand here. elaborate. What holes? RDMS is there so you CAN micromanage everything if you want to - standings are ALWAYS subject to change and need attention I come from EVE. 10k+ hours. Again, even if confined to one planet it's an arbitrary number which is superimposed on ppl just for playing the game. This system works in EVE because of sec status of systems, but will not work out that well in an open world, for reasons I stated. Sec status also doesn't protect anyone in EVE at any time. It's a bad system which gives the impression of doing smth good while in the end doesn't rly do anything at all. Yes NBSI/NPSI will be a common tactic - so what? RDMS -> set everyone to red -> done. Not much micromanaging involved... Depends on what you did or where you lived in EVE. I lived my whole career in a C5 with sC2/sC6 and we did police our whole chain. That's everyday business to bring stuff inside or sell. But mainly we did it for fun and shooting stuff. And this kind of thing won't be as prevailant in DU at first as it is in EVE too. Travel times are real. You can't fly from one planet to another one in minutes in the beginning. It takes hours. DU != eve in this regard and pvp will concentrate at certain points imho (like orbit, ground, later on at stargates and FTL-lane beacons) And it's the same in DU but for different reasons: griefing isn't easy around alioth imho and the griefer needs to work for it too. some certainly don't want them ingame but most players are fine with auto turrets as long as it's balanced and comes with drawbacks I still don't see any reason to implement such a system tbh - there is nothing to gain, but makes everything worse imho
  22. A fast ping isn't neccessarily needed since DU is not twitch based. A good internet connection with lots of mb/s is a nice to have since you need to load all player made constructs
  23. Yes you can look at other games and use good ideas from them - the rep system from eve clearly isn't one. Neither the rights system. I don't need to describe anything here how griefers will be blocked - because I already did that by saying: " markets are run by players, so they will naturally block griefers to access those " I don't see any micromanaging in "That org is bad, declare them as enemies". The RDMS is exactly there for micromanaging stuff if you wish. That's why it's SO MUCH MORE powerful than Eves system. An "automatic" system like the one you described wouldn't work in DU simply because there aren't any game-imposed sec stats like high/low/null. Why decrease a players sec status automatically if he's in pirate territory anyway? They WANT pvp to happen there so why punish players with an arbitrary number/system? Also: no one can prevent anyone from entering their turf in DU - even with a shield (although I admit that is still up for debate). You can walk anywhere you like, you can't dig, edit, build or shoot there though, depending on where you are (MSA/ASA, TCU of another org,...) To me, a MUCH simpler and better fitting system for DU is using the already planned RDMS for everything: Your Org/Alliance decides who may do stuff in your territory and who may open containers or mine on your turf. Everyone who isn't behaving can be flagged with RDMS. What you describe in your second point (or w/e) is exactly what RDMS does
  24. No pvp on a MSA (sanctuary moon), so no, noone can take it. If there may be some kind of quanta sinks like taxes to keep your STU running is unknown atm
