  1. DId you check in build mode if there are any collisions? Several of my ships where saying they had collisions. Which pretty much shut the entire ship down. I had to move them (and back to the same spot they where not colliding) before the ship would function.

So chances are, if your ship is handling like dog coming out of a mud hole holding a 10 foot stick. Its because a bunch of the elements are turned off because they are colliding with something.

  2. If you have a real life that keeps getting in the way don't mu alone.  Do it with a group of people.  We have ours setup where each mu is given a number. And each group is labeled in vr.  I group 1-10 is the first 10 mu, group 11-16 is the second group. Group 17-32 is the third group.

So when I realize I almost have 50 calibrates sitting around. I look at the list and see Bob did the last calibration on mu 12. So I vr on over to mu13 and start.

Now I might wait a day before I go and do it, depends how long ago some calibrated 13. Generally we try and get them done every 4 days.

However the biggest advantage to this system is  if you need some rl time, you can as the other guys pick up the slack.

I am sure we could manage more mu's, but having no pressure to perform is really nice.

My idea suggestion that you should be able to boost parts with accelerators that are generated using scrap parts (not scrap, ore, or refinement) was one solution.

you create a new item called accelerators or performance enhancers.  They are made using only crafted parts consumed in a recycler.  The enhancers basically improve parts like engines so they get modifiers for better performance.

Essentially they are garbage pits to reduce market flooding that everyone wants because they improve things like fuel performance, cargo total hold, weapons etc.

How I envision it (subject to change) is you take all those excess airplane parts and run them through the recycler, out churns enhancers that are like a fuel source.  Whenever a ship part is damaged/destroyed, it requires additional enhancers to get the same benefit.  The enhancer chips themselves can also be part dumps, with a chance every time you recycle into it that it goes up a tier in benefits.   Two fold dump mechanics - one for the fuel, one for the chips that insert into the parts and give a % benefit.

This helps circumvent the issue of +1 to speed, +2 to speed, etc flooding the market and making it impossible to navigate.  They're just basic enhancers and different tiers, that give different benefits depending on the part you put them into.

You could make it part specific if you wanted to go in depth - such as an engine enhancer requires engines to be recycled

And then 6 months down the line the market will be flooded with these things from mega factories. (although it would take allot of ore out of the world).

@OP. Setting an NPC buy order for every type of item. would not benefit new players. If the buy price is set higher then the max skill in ore to make that item. then mega factories will just buy up all the ore at a price less then these prices And that would become the new defacto price for ore.

And personally I find it false that a new player cannot get into industry. I mean maybe if they are trying to do it all themselves with no outside influence (IE paying someone to buff there factory). then sure a new player is going to take a loss in selling an element instead of selling the ore.  But this is a multiplayer game. and you can hire other players to help you get setup.

Players interested in industry also need to do allot of research. You cannot just decide, hey I am going to make XXX. Because some items sell for less then they are worth.  For instance Nitron Fuel. So many people make it, the profit margins on it are so slim, it would not be worth getting into. but some items sell for several times the ore value. Going to have to play around with allot of spreadsheets to figure out whats right for you. Because not only do you need to find a good item to sale, but you also need to find an item that you can get the ore to produce.

Another thing about industry in DU. You might not sell something for 2 months. But then you cannot keep it stocked fast enough for the next month. Remember DU is a long game, not so much for instant gratification.

A wipe will attract more players, the game needs more players to survive.

Thats all the justification that’s needed. Period.

New players that are attracted to the game only because it wiped will stay around for how long? DU is not a single purchase and NQ got its money from you and does not mater if you continue to play. NQ needs people to keep subscribing.

And if you want to use the argument that No one plays now. Then you cannot use the argument that these few players have such a huge advantage that that warrent a wipe.

But if you need honeycombs, you could produce them in your factories. And if you want a beautiful ship, you can make them easily by yourself or purchase them on DU-Creators.org.

Also, if that comes true, then players would simply add a block of honeycombs to their ship. No beautiful shapes, as no one with sense would invest time and design on a ship for PVP space. The best you may get is some thing like a basic frame of honeycombs, the worst would be above-said cube.

But I may be wrong with my interpretation of your wishes behind your suggestion. So please tell me, WHY you want honeycombs to be involved?

Your saying people would just build ugly ships if they made the change. I am saying people cannot build nice ships unless they make the change.

So many people seem to be blind to (or want to ignore) the fact that current numbers will not sustain this game, even double or triple current numbers will result in the servers being turned off within a year or so. Which is a de facto ultimate wipe.

This game needs 50k+ subscribers to keep the lights on. In order to do that NQ has to do a massive advertising push at launch, and needs to advertise launch as ‘the true start’, that’s their best shot. This requires a reasonably comprehensive wipe (at the minimum the removal of all quanta and all skill points.)

All you people saying ‘what’s the point’ need to realise that that’s what new joiners want, they don’t want to feel like they’re starting on the back foot.

I get that within a week or two the rich people will be rich again.

I get that knowledge of the game is worth more than everything else so it will never be a level playing field.

I get that it’s annoying that people will loose everything they’ve worked for.

I get that people have spent a bunch of money on this already.

None of this matters, the fact is, a wipe will pull in far far more people than dual universe will loose from beta leavers. And numbers are all that matters to give the game a chance of being persistent long term.

I hope they wipe everything except static structures (with elements removed) and BPs. That way they can advertise the game as being ‘wiped except for aesthetic structures’.

Players that join only if there is a wipe, wont be playing for long. These players will be the first to leave when what ever new game comes out.  And with a subscription based game, its not about that initial purchase but continued subscription.

Although I am not against catering to the play type of starting out.  Thats why I think every year, or every couple of months a new solar system (maybe just a single planet). gets added. Have it not reachable by helio's. Only way to play there is to start a new character there. Players in this new system must build a warpgate in able to join the playerbase in the helios system. This way everyone is happy.  Added advantage is if NQ ever decides that new solar system ever becomes under populated they could create the warpgate and create some sort of doomsday scenario where everyone has to evacuate that system before its destroyed for good.

  7. Loot is needed for the Victor. If everything is destroyed it takes some of the point out of pvp. I am not against destroyed items needing to be ground down to pure ores.

I am against tying shields to core size. Instead tie shield hp to ship mass.  This is becouse an L core ship can be the volume of an xs core ship. And an xs core ship can be larger then an L core ship.

Should be grandfathered in, especially considering they haven't launched yet.

What is this section 8 housing?  Granted you say this is not about money, its about them scamming you.

"As development has ramped up, we’ve come to realize that the original subscription price of  6.99 EUR/USD was based on optimistic server cost estimations. Now that we’ve been at this for a while, we have a much better handle on the real costs of providing the level of service we want to give our players. This means we need to adjust the price of the DU beta subscription while keeping the following in mind:

    • Staying true to our initial promise of a price of 6.99 EUR/USD per month, at least for the duration of the beta.
    • Keeping a competitive price versus other MMOs whose monthly charge is in the vicinity of 15 EUR/USD per month. "

So as you can see there, $6.99 price is still there. You just need to sub to 1 year instead of 3 months.  And as you say it is still a beta,

And you might want to get that price for a year while you can. Now that they have announced we are getting close to release. Expect that price to hit $15 at or shortly after release. I would not be surprised if we hit a monthly $25 or more per char as DU cost more then a traditional MMO does per player.

But as you say its not about the money for us as the players. As $6.99 is nothing. I spend more then that on (insert pretty much anything that you purchase weekly),  Hell I pay more for that then I do for 20 miles worth of gas I drive to work each day.  Then its about principle.  And if those fat cat DU investors where making bank off of DU I would agree. but they are not, infact we are currently playing the game on there dime as it is at a loss right now.

    Hi All,

I need some help. I have been playing DU for almost 2 years, with autopay to my credit card, no problems. All Information is the same, nothing has changed.  They (Novaquark/Xsolla) let my subscription expire with out a single message or email.  The ticket help desk said "Thank you for coming back, apparently there was an error on Xsolla's side. Could you please attempt to sub and let me know if you are getting any error messages? NQ-Rocketman".

By "sub" they want me to re-purchase the game at the increased rates (I was paying the $20.97USD, for every 3 month), a re-sub would increase this by $4.59USD per month to $34.74.  Money is not the issue, it is the fraudulent activity of this company, if this is, in fact what they are trying to do.  I have been emailing NQ-Rocketman for 5 days now, if I do not hear back from them on what they mean by "re-sub" and will not give me my old payment plan, I cast a vote of no confidence in this corporation, and will thusly walk away from a game I enjoyed.  This is not tolerable business practice; No warning, price hike, no customer assistance.  I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to everyone, and that you are not paying $45.90/month in December 2022. Please forward this to wherever.  I was enjoying this game, and will miss you all.

    Best of luck,

    Buford

ps. Yoarii/Fridaywitch, any advice here would be big, please ask around as to why this is happening.

They changed the price 3 months ago. Your last resub probably made it in just before this change. However to keep it from being as you view it a scam change in price. they make you resub at the new price.   That way they dont start charging you the new price without you agreeing to it.

Or do you feel you should be grandfathered in under the old price? I think there are very few things in life where your grandfathered in under an old set price.

  10. Sounds like a great idea. Every player, Ship, Station, Asteroid, Moon, Planet in rotation around Helios.

Until you think about what currently happens when your flying in your construct near another construct that is rubber banding around. Now picture whats going to happen when your flying around a planet that is rubberbanding.

  11. Core sizes are nothing more then different sized build box area's. If you want to limit cores to specific classes.  Then you need to create cores specifically for its purpose. IE a Military core, that would have increased resistance, Increased weapons damage, increased HP. An industrial core that would have weight reduction, lower fuel consumption, better lift.  A speed core, that accelerates faster with lower fuel consumption, better lift.

The loophole of using a larger core to gain more capacitor and thus be able to fit more elements is a risk which seems valid enough.

There is fairly simple ways to close that loophole though, one is to simply not allow using elements in a size class on a larger size core, which may be undesirable as these elements may be chosen for design reasons. Another would be to have a penalty in place like reducing effectiveness of said elements if placed on a core above their size class. This would not impact dessign option as in that case the elements are cosmetic in nature but would prevent what you describe.

Such options should really be very simple to implement.

You close that loophole and it limits things like puting a smaller engine on a ship going forward for reverse thrust,  or to the side, or up and down. or having one that is more responsive for quicker thrust (IE that XL engine is great on L ships, but somtimes you want an L engine for its response time. Even things like adjustors, 16 sm adustors take the same space as 1 large adjustor, provide the same thrust, but at half the weight.  Having Large wings on a small core can look nicer then having bunch of mediums. Not being able to put L engines on a small core would also harm allot of builds.

And closing that loophole solves nothing, as you can still build a L core ship with L and XL modules to be the size of a small core, with the cross section of an XS core.

  13. First I want to start off by saying, you dont have to be in PVP space if you dont want to. You can warp between planets and never be at risk. Currently only thing you need to be in PVP space for is high tier asteroids an Aphelia missions (next patch you can include high tier alien cores on that list). Basically players can do 95% of the game without ever steping foot inside the PVP zone.

Stassis weapons are very much needed for PVP. And I hope we get two types, once you mount on your ship and one you can deploy in space. This is something that actually allows players to catch other players in space. If two ships are going the same speed Its nearly impossible to catch the other player (There are a few methods, but generally require you to be in a pipe with the target). Stassis weapons are going to reduce the amount of time it takes to actually engage a target, and it will allow multiple ships to attack the same target. Most PVErs will never encounter this weapon.  I just hope they make the stassis weapon 1 voxel larger then a small ship.

Speed change to mass is a huge thing. And I dont think its a good thing. The biggest thing is its going to slow down group aphelia mission runners. It will slow down slow boaters who are trying to save a buck instead of warping. And it will slow down asteroid miners.  You dont have to worry about max speed in atmo, and you dont have to worry about max speed when warping. So the speed change is going to have little effect on most people.

This is also going to slow down large battleships. (like they are even a thing besides diehards). This change will be the final nail because why would you ever put two sets of guns on one ship, when it is going to have less shields, and go slower then two ships with 1 set of gun on each.  The single ships are going to have twice the shield HP and go faster.  Even so much so that the  two ship combat will be able to engage and disengage to recharge shields since they can move at a higher speed then the slower ship.  Basically this change is going to make ships even more nano then they are now.

Unfortunately now that they have announced these changes, I feel like we are going to get these changes. And very little can be done to change this.  However I do think there is a solution they can add in to fix the problem.  Give bonuses to ships that have multiple gunners seats in use.  Like a 50% bonus for each active gunner (people sitting in a gunners seat with weapons linked) seat. IE a ship with 1 set of weapons 0% bonus.  A ship with 2 seats of active weapons 150% (effectively 3 weapon sets), A ship with 3 seats of active weapons 200% (effetely 6 weapon sets), A ship with 4  seats of active weapons 250% (effectively 10 weapon sets), a ship with 5 seats of active weapons 300% (effectively 15 weapon sets) This would give a reason for a battleship to be ingame. Because under the current game mechanics and proposed game mechanics, they are out performed by nano's.

Just add a second solar system for new players, there they can start from 0 and build their own society.

At a later time, you can then build huge space gates through large community projects to connect these solar systems. Win-win for all.

A system like this is a win win for everyone.

New players get to have that New player experience.  Old players that want that new player experience can go have that new player experience. (NQ gets another sub from the old player).  Old players get to keep their stuff.  It creates an event in the game.

With the way it would work is Heleo's our current solar system, would get a schematic to build a stargateA. The new solar system would also get a schematic to build a stargateA.  Obviously these stargate schematics would cost allot of money. And take a long time to build (giving these new players alonger new player experience). And they would need to be built in PVP space, (so they can be destroyed, and players are each side can decide, na we dont want those players to join our system), They would also need to be fueled to maintain power.

An added NQ advantage to this setup is if at any time the new solar system ever becomes not financially viable, They can always create a supernova event where everyone needs to vacate that solar system And it gets destroyed and lost forever.

Basically it solves allot of problems for everyone, its a win win for everyone.
