Its an MMO. I like seeing lots of players at market. I also like to see ships coming and going. The only issue is all the stuff people leave there long term. Lots of good suggestions around. Ships left for more than 7 days could be impounded at some specific location (one of the planets poles). A fee is payable to retrieve the ship.

Amazing. This is one of the most well behaved a respectful game forums I have ever seen. We must have been playing different games.

Mine used to always stop whilst offline. I have not used it offline for a couple of months now so might have changed.

Thanks. All that time playing ED and I never noticed a system closer than 3 LY. I like your explanation of why the didnt do it.

not flying them is a limitation. I may have missed your point, but not, the point.- 14 replies

OK, I have not played for a while, I didnt think the distance to star measurement was accurate enough (as in not enough decimal points) to see a change without flying for several real time days.

I did ask them directly myself and got the opposite answer. That was a long time ago though. Fdev have been caught lying a few times so I was probably lied to.

example of a rule for a static construct? 1) You cant stick a pilot seat on it and fly 2) They dont automatically collapse- 14 replies

How did you measure the distance?

Pretty sure you can fly from one system to another in ED. It takes years though.

OK. I didnt say one was better than the other. Nor do I care. I was simply pointing out that suggesting one could travel further seamlessly in DU than ED was incorrect. With that said neither game is even close to a simulation. They are both science fiction. Which is fine by me as realism isnt always fun.

OK, I understand what you mean now. Space is continuous in ED though and it is possible to fly across the galaxy in real time (given enough fuel). So, you could say space is seamless. The different travel modes are not seamless though.

As far as I can tell, the movement in Elite Dangerous is just as actual (not my word) as it is in DU. Elite Dangerous is orders of magnitude larger and you can travel at much faster speeds. The difference as far as I can tell it that Elite renders your 1 ship where as DU renders the many parts of the ship.

When you say "should automatically collapse" do you mean because of real world physics or because you dont like them? If we are talking about real world physics then we probably need to take into account that this game is science fiction. In reality the ships would not fly, the hovers would not hover, the mined materials wouldnt be transported to our container 1 km away etc. I do find them a hazard when flying. Hopefully future optimisations will make them draw in a little sooner.- 14 replies

I originally thought it was so pirates could catch people but its probably as fra119 says. The game probably has issues accurately placing us in space if we go faster, which would also be an issue for weapon targeting, I guess.

Water hexes on Sanctuary have no ore deposits?
Underhook replied to Ambaire's topic in General Discussions
You can buy territory scanners although they are expensive for new players. They scan all the way down so they show all ore on a hex. Some higher tier ores are 800m to 1500m down -
My Xsolla recipt looked different from the ones I have seen posted and did not have any method for cancelling subscription. There was also no option to opt out of automatic recurring payments. Wether you think its shady or not might depend on the country you live in. I have not specifically checked but I'm pretty sure its illegal here in Australia. Anyway we can now unsubscribe on the DU website. Log into your account and select "My Products" You will see an unsubscribe button there. I have done this and I assume Xsolla wont take any money out on the 24th of Jan (my expiry date).

Territory Unit Question - cant find answer
Underhook replied to GarbageKnight's topic in General Discussions
As far as I know, we can pick up a territory unit seven days after we put it down. Maybe you put the other 2 down after midnight? I would be interested to find out what happens. -
I don't think so. Could it be that you have allocated you skill points a little differently this time?

If we click on the word "market", it will group the markets of each planet together, alternatively we can click on the word "distance" and it will show the planet we are currently on at the top. Probably not quite what you are asking for but its workable for now.
