  1. Thanks Revelcro. It is just a ship for me and my handbag. I didnt know we could keep the warp cells in the nano. I think I will go with the xs container for this build.
  2. I am building my 1st warp capable ship. It will be a shuttle and looks like its going to weigh 50t. I have fitted a xs container in which I can fit 40 cells. Will I be able to get far on 40 cells? Or is a S container a necessity? Any idea an cell usage for a 50t craft from Alioth to Ion?
  3. Yes Merry Xmas to all the Du players and staff at NQ
  4. I very much agree with your summation. I pretty much created the factories so I could build ships and space stations. I didnt actually care about quanta at all. I did mining exactly as you said. I think they had to, and have to make changes, which will be painful (hopefully temporary) and much more game play needs to be introduced. Fingers crossed.
  5. It is tough on new (especially solo) players. That said it was really tough on some established solo players. Imagine you mined, created multiples of every machine put every bit of quanta you made into making your factory bigger and bigger. 0.23 hits and you have a factory that does not work and no quanta. The stuff that you could sell is now worth 20% of what it was the day before, even then its not selling. A lot of players were in that position and I think some of them quit. A lot of them seemed to try and get the schematics to at least get part of their factory going again. When 0.23 hit, I took one look and said to myself. Industry is no longer viable for the solo player. So, I looked for something else to speck into that would be a feasible way to play. Now that they have reduced the schematic prices, some solo players might be able to eek out an existence but it will be tough. As I have said in other threads, the game is alpha. it might be worth having a break and coming back later. My subscription runs out in Jan, so I'm still thinking about it.
  6. Communication is an issue. The lift scenario means you generally have to monitor the in game support channel. If you have discord then you can monitor that too. people ask for help on a fairly regular basis. When 0.23 hit I has 5mil quanta 2 small factories (now gathering dust) and a few ships. I used the 5 mil to buy schematics and the only asset I used was my personal transport. I currently have around 3 mil quanta with another 40 or so currently on the market. An xs ship with 2 small atmo and one medium space engine (no warp, I slow boat). The ship I use could easily be made for less than the 150k daily allowance. A couple more days and the 300k could be used to start trading.
  7. Sounds fair. So, dont wipe now, wait til release?
  8. Currently I am making quanta by picking up schematics and transporting them to places where they are unavailable and selling them. I have just started an org (partly because I want the cores) to provide emergency services. Repair, refuel, core delivery, parts deliver, taxi, boosting services etc. Just have to be a bit creative. Every time you run into a problem in this game it is a potential job. For example today, I need more ships but dont have enough cores. I have decided to decommission my space station over Ion. But, I need to get my ships back and I'm not sure how I can do it. Now if somebody was offering a service to either drop me out there or better still, fly my ships back for me. I'd pay. If you look at DanelSHE's post above (might be a few above). There is somebody basically asking for a service. That player does not want to be going place to place getting schematics, machines etc. Market pick up service right there. Actually, just to prove a point. I paid for a taxi 2 days ago. Picked me up from my space station over Alioth and dropped me on Madis. 400,000 quanta.
  9. No, I didnt finish half way through my
  10. No offence to you, your post is well written. It just seems to me that everybody is suddenly an expert on economics. Economics itself is hardly a science and we rarely see economist agree in the real world. I'm just stating this because what you have said sounds great. Somebody else (even me) could argue the exact opposite and it would sound great too. The thing is we are trying to predict the future. The vast majority of predictions about the future are wrong.
  11. It seems pretty obvious that the schematics were not all done by the same person eg, silver pure, pure sulfur. It also seems that they were unable to attend meetings at the same time (maybe covid was to blame). Anyway once you get used to it its OK. Now, the real reason I'm posting here. It would be really nice if there was some visual difference between machines. Even if it was just colour coding. For example basic has the standard orange highlights, uncommon = green, advanced blue and so on. Should be not too much work?
  12. I did all the tutorials that didnt bug out before completion. I must have forgotten about waypoints and have never used them. I feel ashamed
  13. I have built quite a bit but would not be opposed to a wipe if the game will be better for it. The reason for all of this is that the game was sold as beta but its alpha. Now they might not really have had a choice but here we are. JC seems like a nice guy but he can be his own worst enemy. Because he is so open and reachable he makes statements that he must later back flip on. Sanctuary was going to be the only "sanctuary". I heard JC being interviewed by Markee Dragon. In that interview JC said they had not quite decided but were pretty sure that half of Alioth would be territory PvP but the half near the district would be safe. One week later its announced that not only is all of Alioth safe but that the entire multiplanet bubble will remain. I dont want DU to be a lifeless game with too few players. If they are clever enough fix it without a wipe (including org rebalance), then great. If not then wipe. It may end up they just have to risk it for the biscuit.
  14. If industry was your dream game then yes its not really a solo endeavour any more, which may have spoiled the game for you. Digging is not the only alterative though. I have done no mining since the 0.23 and the only industry I have is to make my own fuel and low level scrap. There are many other ways to make quanta. You can then use that quanta to buy completed stuff or parts to build your own. Whatever you decide, good luck to you.
  15. I am updating this, just in case some of you are interested. Last night I was slow boating from Ion to Alioth. I was travelling outside the shipping lane and about one third of the way there I logged off and went to bed. This morning I logged on and my ship was stationary. This is now the 2nd time its happened. Conclusion: It would seem that if we log off and back in again we lose 1500kmph from our speed (but we are still moving). However if we log off for a considerable time (hours?) our ship will be stationary upon log in. Why does it matter: NQ says that if our ship is seen (on radar I believe, so 2su) it will be moving. But if we are logged of for a long time, does it mean we wont be moving (siting duck). Also, its important to know for those who travel with minimal fuel reserves.
  16. I have since discovered there is a trade channel on discord for this sort of thing
  17. Thanks for posting back with your solution. For stuff like this its easiest to do it in game on the support channel. You should get help much more quickly
  18. Awesome job. I dont understand most of it but the bits I do understand seem useful
  19. Thank you. I cant believe in an MMO how difficult it is do get people to provide a service. Anyway, the game crashed and destroyed my ship. I'm currently waiting on Support to hopefully replace the ship
  20. My space station is about 1.24su above Alioth. Somebody else built a station below me at around 0.6su. I came close to hitting it a few times. Just the other day I saw a flash on my screen. I looked back at their station to see panels still spawning in. The lag saved me ...... I passed straight through at 3000kph
  21. Hi There, I'm looking for somebody to boost the engines on my personal shuttle (2 atmo and 1 space) I can boost containers in return. Container mass lvl5 and volume lvl 3
  22. LOL, thanks. Well, it does not work anyway. Currently its a very expensive decorative item
  23. The most traded commodity on planet earth is oil (energy) which hopefully will not be needed in the future (almost free renewables). The 2nd most traded commodity on earth is coffee I'm glad we dont have to eat in the game but its clear to me that food (food would be very expensive) production and transport would be huge in this future world with lots of citizens in a new solar system.
