  1. That seems like a silly reason to design the PVE missions that way. It literally has nothing to do with the PVE missions. It would just provide another random meeting point for PVP, the exact same thing Asteroids already provide. The game already has that. What the game doesn't have is a way for all those "cowards" to actually fire the weapons on their ship a few times, before going up against another player, and risking their ship. I think they can probably find a way to balance the risk vs reward of the PVE missions without randomly dumping people's ships in PVP space to entertain bored PVPers.
  2. You can already lose your ship in PVP though. And someone else gets to keep the ship if they catch you too, so it's not just gone. I think what DU is missing is a way for players to get their feet wet doing a bit of combat. Without such a steep cost. In other games replacing or repairing your ship is as easy as clicking a button and paying for it. Replacing a ship is a lot more time consuming in DU.
  3. I'm not so sure i like the idea of the ship being completely deleted from the game when someone loses. That seems harsh. The "cost" of replacing a ship completely is more than just Quanta. It takes time and effort to gather all the parts and transport them. And people develop an emotional bond with their ships (ok maybe that's just me😁) They would also have to purchase another BP if the ship was DRM protected. Which would increase the cost further. I sell ship Blueprints too, so that would benefit me. But i think people would be a lot less likely to bring a DRM protected ship into an instance, if they might lose it. I think it would feel a lot less frustrating to lose a PVE mission if you got your ship back when it's over. Even if it's a smoking pile of rubble. Cost should be in Quanta, not frustration.
  4. This is from LinkedIn? What do you think his intended audience is here, who is he speaking to? I can only assume it's not current or potential customers, because there are other better ways to communicate with either of those groups. So is it investors, or perspective employees? Honest question, i'm confused.
  5. I think instances could have a place in DU. For newer players it can be a punishing game, and being able to test things out in an environment where you won't lose anything if you crash or get blown up could be a good thing. The biggest issue for me with the flight challenges is that i can't use my own ship. And i can't use any of my piloting talents. This is a building game, and an RPG. So as a fan of both of those types of games, if i've spent the last week training skills, and building an awesome new ship, or saving up to buy one. When i play the game, i want to be able to use those things. A lot of other MMO's use instances successfully. But i think the key is that in a game that's about progress, you need to be able to bring your progress into the instance. Or it's just a separate mini game.
  6. You seem to think they are making decisions that you aren't happy with out of spite, or by mistake or something. These decisions aren't mistakes, they're stone-cold capitalism. The personnel at NQ are just trying to do their jobs. It's the people who are concerned with money and prestige who are cutting corners and funneling money into other projects.
  7. So, you honestly think that "personnel" are causing the company to lose money? You think upper management (and you) have this perfect plan. But there are just these darn unruly NQ employees who are doing whatever they want, and messing everything up? I'm sorry but that's just funny. The only prestige that NQ has is the work that's been done so far, by the people who work there. They've never done anything else, they've never made any other money to lose. It's not the people who work there's fault that the people in charge think they can just snap their fingers and produce a game like nothing that's ever been done before. And when they don't get it fast enough, they just start trying to sell whatever they have. They started making "professional business" decisions when they still needed to be making the game. You can't really judge the product or the people making it, when they haven't been allowed to finish it yet.
  8. It is definitely a joke. But all you need to do to have this "feature" is to only place standard square shaped voxels. The voxels have the ability to take on many shapes, allowing us to build incredible unique constructs. But you also have the option to just work with simple squares if you prefer that.
  9. If that was the reason for the wipe then they wouldn't have wiped talents. And again, even if that was the reason, the reason was still wrong, because it didn't fix anything. The economy isn't better, and the "level playing field" didn't bring back half as many players as it alienated. They promised not to wipe, unless a wipe was needed. The reason they wiped is because they thought it would bring back or bring in more players. It didn't do that. So, the wipe wasn't needed, was it?
  10. What was the "need" that was supposed to justify the wipe? Now that it's over and done, In hindsight, what exactly did it solve or fix or improve? They thought that wiping the game and launching it fresh on Steam would bring in more customers. That's not a need, it's a hope. They didn't need to wipe, they wanted to. And their reasoning was wrong. So whether we want to define it as a need or a want, it was a mistake either way. All it accomplished was diminishing the product that they had already sold, to the people who were the most interested in it.
  11. This is why i don't have an alt account anymore. It's just too complicated. I wouldn't mind having some of the benefits that come with a second account. And i wouldn't mind paying more for them. But it's not worth the added stress. I would be happy to pay extra for more construct slots, calibration charges, recruit -a-friend rewards ect. But not if i have to manage multiple passwords and reoccurring subscriptions just to get them.
  12. Did you get a notification when the Org failed the first Construct Check on March 4th? The notification you got on the 18th is for the end of a 14 day countdown. But there should be a notification when you fail the first Construct Check too. It would be nice if there was a notification every day that you have constructs in a countdown to being abandoned. We really need an in-game mail system for important stuff like this too. There's too much spam in the notifications tab.
  13. The thing is i was paying $10 a month in 1999 to play Everquest. At the time that was a huge expense for me. But i was willing to pay it because the game was new and there was nothing else like it. But i don't have any interest in playing any of those new triple A rated MMOs, at any cost. Even with all of its problems, DU is still a thousand times more interesting than any of those games. I'm not saying i would pay more for what we have now. I'm saying i would pay more if there was more to pay for.
  14. To me the concept of "Free to play" just doesn't fit here. This isn't a complete game yet, and it already costs way more money to operate then the older MMOs that have "gone FTP" in the past. I think DU's target audience is a bit older and can afford a monthly subscription. And i think people who are discovering the game, and then leaving, aren't leaving because the game costs too much. They're leaving because NQ hasn't spent enough money giving them a reason to stay. I think they would pay more, if there was more to pay for. NQ needs to stop worrying about how to get new players and focus on making the game as good as it sounds on paper. Whether the game is FTP or not i do think it needs more ways to spend money once you are already playing it. I would be more than happy to pay extra for things like new element skins, new honeycomb textures, extra core slots, more character customization etc. I would pay big money for more Honeycomb textures and element skins especially. More ship parts, and more decorative elements.
  15. Well at least it's not just me. I've reported several of those spam posts in the past. Including the one above and the other post from that same user that is still up too. And they never get taken down. So, either the report system is completely broken or intentionally disabled.
  16. I've never actually tested it now that i think about it. The option has been around for so long i just kind of assumed that it worked. That's unfortunate.
  17. You can opt to not apply construct rights to any individual element. Under set element rights when you right click the container.
  18. When i report a post on the forums the only option i have is "This comment is okay, but I want to tell a moderator about it" Do other people have more options then that? I'm wondering if i've had my ability to report a post restricted or something. I've been on these forums a while, and i've probably reported quite a few posts. Maybe too many? I don't know. But i think the majority of them have been people who've eventually been banned from the forums. Or malicious phishing posts like the one above. I stopped bothering to report these Phishing scams because "This comment is okay, but I want to tell a moderator about it" as the only option seems a bit condescending. I don't really "want" to report anything. I'm just trying to help keep the forums clean and safe for the people who use them.

  20. I think this is a great idea. I'd be happy to see the ore distribution change on future planets. There's no reason that it should be the same on every planet. Another thought i had was that the idea of randomized ore on planets could still be added to the game on top of the current system. Let's say any unclaimed territory on a planet had a random chance to receive a temporary bonus Ore Pool, separate from the permanent ore pools available on it. Only unclaimed territories would be eligible, so this would specifically benefit people who are actively looking for ore instead of people who already own territory. Call it a random asteroid strike or something like that. If you find one, then you claim the territory and mine it until the bonus runs out. It would give people a reason to continue scanning on planets that have already been completely scanned. And make scanning a more profitable activity all the time.
  21. How can you possibly know if something is unsustainable if you aren't even attempting to participate in it at all? You're claiming something is inaccessible to you, while at the same time admitting you haven't even tried to get it. There are three of you here on the forums that seem to share this opinion that there aren't any territories available for you to mine. Five people if we count the OP's two obvious alts that they felt the need to use to support their view, to make it appear that there are more of you. There are plenty of territories available for the three of you to mine in the game right now if you wanted to mine them. And NQ is already planning to add more. You keep bringing up the wipe, talking about how people were against it, and how there were all these new players who would enjoy the game if it wasn't for these big bad meanies that are stopping them by hoarding all the resources. Yet here we are after the wipe. And all you want to talk about is how bad the game is doing. So which is it? did the wipe solve all the games problems or not? Because honestly it doesn't seem like anything would make you happy. I was happy with the game and playing it every day before the wipe. (well, before they started teasing the idea of the wipe). And i am still playing the game now, and enjoying it, after the wipe. I think the game needs more, not less. I don't see any reason to remove parts of the game that are already providing gameplay and content for people who are already enjoying the game. Especially when there is plenty of room for the game to grow, if there's demand for it.
  22. It's a bit of an odd coincidence that after two full wipes you would still end up on the same side of this discussion. Given that you've been here the entire time. It kind of seems like you're choosing not to try at all. And instead, just sit here on the forums and whine for NQ to take other people's stuff away and give it to you. It's kind of hard to imagine that you wouldn't just end up back here again crying for a handout from NQ, instead of playing the game. Why would NQ fall for that again?
  23. The biggest problem with the terrain voxels is that they're designed to simplify terrain shapes like valleys and mountains at a lower LOD. They aren't designed to deal with more complicated shapes. Or being edited in any way really. So as soon as you touch the terrain with the terraforming tools, everything just looks like garbage from a distance. I would love it if NQ would give us more fine control over the terrain voxels. But i also wish they would work on helping us make the terrain look halfway decent, after we edit it. The tool that i would really like is a terrain healing tool, that would replace terrain voxels that have been deleted, and revert everything back to the way it was originally. I would also love it if there was a way to control the blending of terrain materials. For whatever reason, when we place them, they don't seem to blend at all. And a way to replace ground clutter too. A lot of the terrain materials have ground clutter built into them, like grass and small flowers ect. But when we place them, none of that is visible. And the larger terrain elements like trees and rocks. Even if we were just able to craft and deploy them as an element on a core. It would be great if we had access to all of those assets to build with.
  24. I don't have any illusions that they are working on the game full-steam. But someone is still working on the game. And while we might never see AvA combat, that doesn't mean we won't see Territorial Warfare. If we were to adjust our expectations as to what that might look like. At this point DU has drawn in thousands of customers and then churned them back out several times. They made all kinds of crazy promises and let people's imaginations run wild. And it's done nothing but hurt the game's reputation. But i love this game, as is. I play it almost every day. And i'd keep paying to play it for years if they keep up a reasonable trickle of new features and content. In my opinion if they had focused on the fact that it's an incredible building game, and slowly built up a good reputation, the game would be a lot more successful than it is now. I know the game isn't what a lot of people wanted, but it actually is the game that i wanted. I still think NQ has the golden goose here. They just need to stop fumbling around trying to make it something else, and give people a chance to appreciate it for what it is.
  25. Even with Territorial warfare there will still be a safe zone. It just doesn't make sense for NQ to be paying to host parking lots for people who aren't even playing the game anymore. And anyone who wants to put a more permanent mark on the game world, has an entire territory on Haven to build on. I hope eventually Haven ends up like a huge Art Gallery. And if Haven fills up they can add more starter planets too. I wouldn't be surprised if NQ put AvA on the back burner. I would rather see them focus their efforts on improving the parts of the game that make it unique. There are a million other games where you can be a guy with a gun shooting at another guy with a gun. But there are very few games where you can build your own ship and then take it into battle. Or build a base and defend it. I don't think the game needs AvA to have territorial warfare though. Something similar to the Alian Cores would work. Let's say NQ adds a new planet that's outside Aphelia's influence, so it's "contested". Instead of deploying a TCU, you deploy a base shield, and then you have to defend it. It wouldn't necessarily even require atmospheric combat. There could be weapons that can target a base shield from space and take it down.
