  1. if they really do want to do a full wipe, why not do it and let people keep core BP's and then only the amount of TP that accumulated from the time people started to pay for subs. it will give the game a rolling start. I'm out either way, i need to see the game has some kind of long term development plan. If it doesnt all of this wipe chat won't matter when the game closes in a year when everyone is over it again.
  2. You are still thinking too narrow...the game is broader than just hauling to sell . As I said...look at how the game is now...very few people bother with the outer worlds because of the cost...
  3. all of my radars in voxel are obstructed. how can NQ claim you can 'build anything you can imagine' and at the same time say 'but only some of it will work'. what a joke. as for repair crews... whats the point?? why have someone sat on your ship waiting for the shield to go down so they can fix stuff when they can just be in another ship adding dps... pvp in DU is a mess
  4. Its not about making profit. If you re-read the op its about connecting the game up properly... most of the outer worlds are relatively empty because of the cost of going there. Also for pvp, the cost of moving armoured ships around (which have been make redudant now with the radar changes) is prohibitive. Warp cells hold back the potential of the game space whilst adding very little if any benefit.
  5. The radar changes kill all armoured ships...it's like a knight going into battle with his manhood poking out...who would do that?? This is another example of NQ having no idea what they are doing..all of my ships pretty much now need a rework..and some are just not viable...I spent 2 years of long nights and broken sleep in this game, not doing it all over again...so I'm out. Good luck NQ, you are going to need it.
  6. From what NQ said in alpha....warp cells were a way to make warp very costly... so not everyone was doing it.... but i dont think the game has turned out in a way that supports that goal/vision..... i think making warp very cheap would let people spread out around the system more.. make trade between planets more doable and allow more people to travel and take part in pvp in a larger range of ships (big heavy ones are currenlty too expensive to keep warping around)..... maybe there could be no warp zones/nebulae that you need to navigate around....those areas could be where the alien cores were... or high value mission drop points etc.... make it so you can warp to a beacon.. then slowboat the rest of the way to your target... 20/30 mins.... i think it could make the game a lot lot better. Maybe then (possibly future change) we could deploy 'no-warp' bubbles that persist for x time... forcing people to drop out of warp.. so warp still has some unknown risk. It might be that warp ranges are less.. so you have to hop, cooldown, hop. that might land you in dangerous space... but you could use cells to remove the hops...so if you wanted to you could.. options.
  7. really appreciate the detailed reply. It sounds like pvp ships are destined to remain tiny little blobs with no design flexibility. My M core only has 45t of voxel and is already considered too heavy in athena. I feel like we have all this design freedom in DU but in pvp its squeezed into a thimble. I like that you appear to want 'some' honeycomb to be used. but as primarily a ship builder, building pvp ships at the moment is dead in the water. Venting should be a tool that gives arnoured ships an advantage because they can tank more damage but are easier to hit...but at the moment having armour is such a disadvantage (especially on m cores that become too easy to hit by exotic L weapons if they are armoured/bigger) that the benefit venting brings is insignificant. DU has miles to go to make pvp work imo and NQ are moving 1mm at a time.
  8. eve missions can be done in a nights play session.. they dont need you to afkl for 6 hours... EVE also has good npcs... so its a much more engaging game.
  9. but the point is having to fly in a straight line for hours isnt 'gameplay'. its terrible and stupid and just another example of a gameloop badly implemented.
  10. Most of what you wrote sounds terrible...you shouldn't need multiple accounts to enjoy mission running. That's how broken it is and why it needs revising. If the game is like you have written then it's dead.
  11. It looks like mission running is now dead? As the trips are too long and the payoffs not worth it anymore. (For the higher paying special ones) I would suggest adding space stations for mission drop offs (in addition to the planet and moon ones)...so there can be a trade/delivery network that people can run if they want to do that as a profession. Would also mean people could pick up player loads too as the routes would overlap, creating opportunities to buy and sell at different player markets around the system. That way the trips would be shorter and possible to do in a normal nights play instead of it being an afk profession. High value mission drops could be placed in stations, possibly asteroid bases, in the PvP zone. PvP zone markets could also sell higher tier (exotic) elements to encourage people to make those runs.. you might even get players trying to control space around those markets! More reasons for PVP. At the moment missions are not fun at all and limited to people that let them run on auto pilot over night. Just some ideas really, missions could be great!
  12. I agree mostly. I sometimes wonder why NQ appear to dismiss almost all of the suggestions people make. My fear is that they are not actually interested in making the game anymore but instead just need a way to get their money back. Thats why i think they are pushing for the new player experience over the existing players. They need the new players to commit to 12 months of subs whilst retaining as many old players as possible (but thats a secondary concern as existing players will have DAC to use up so still wont be paying for a while). I fear that once they have maximised the capital opportunity that a launch presents they already know there is not enough interest long term to make the game viable. Why would they spend time and money on these features with that in mind? New players wont be jaded like the old ones and everything will be shiny and new, it will take them 12 months to realise like we have that there is a massive lack of content in the game. It needs PVE/NPCs like EVE has. The player base plummeted during 'beta'. If people dont even want to play when the game was free, what makes NQ think there will be a larger player base when its 100% subscription?
  13. no. they wont be the same. we dont know what the ore yeilds are.. so even if you know what is in your tile now, you wont know what that actually means until the Demeter patch lands? i think?
  14. nobody knows whats on their hex until Demeter lands
  15. I like where they are going with mining, i feel like the optimisation bit is grind for the sake of grind. Maybe the mining units could be composed of elements and voxel and be player built constructs? ... it could have added some creativity... then maybe over time those elements could degrade and need replacing...... then maybe the elements could be different tier too.... but then maybe a fast drill head needed a faster CPU to run the calcs, maybe a fast head needs replacing more often... or a slow drill has lower output but more time between changes..... I feel like with a bit of creativity some of these game systems could be made to be more involving with relatively little work? its just stats isnt it?
  16. who are you refering to? just checking which post you are replying to
  17. thats true.. i did see that the boosts to M weapons was pretty good.. its not quite as much damage.. but its close enough as you say to compete. I've been looking at making some fast M core ships as interceptors
  18. they really need to give smaller ships more roles... like ewar.. if they make s cores or xs cores viable againts L cores from a gunner point of view, you risk making L cores redundant (since other than killing other ships L guns have no purpose yet, like attacking space stations etc) M cores should be viable against L cores... but you might need quite a few... then s and xs cores should be for stuff like weapon dampening. engine modifiers etc.. so they are a threat to larger ships from a non gun standpoint. I suspect its the backend thats the issue here... since you'd need the target ship to be fully loaded on your PC (which currently only happens when you are very close or in build mode?) before the module on a ship 50km away (for example) could modify its engine stats. Otherwise the server would have to do the changing of states ? which gives them a database cost issue. Im just guessing here of course, someone that understands it more than me might be able to help me understand.
  19. sure... if you get off on being that type of person then you have my pity. even on the internet..
  20. not really.. did you read anything of what i wrote? my comments are specifically around behaviour. i actually have no problem at all that boo turned up... that’s the nature of the game. but every person deserves to be treated with common decency.
  21. there is nothing for me to 'get over'. just because its 'the internet' doesn't give people licence to be sub-human. im simply making the point that however people try to excuse their behaviour 'because its the internet' it doesnt change the fact that some people get off on just pi55ing on peoples day.. and thats quite sad.. even on 'the internet'... I saw the comms that the organiser from boo sent out. he/she seemed to be quite an angry person... maybe finding it hard to cope with some mental issues who knows... because of that i try to give people on 'the internet' some slack.. you don't know what personal problems people are suffering from that makes them that way...
  22. yeah thats not on either. two wrongs dont make a right... the trashing of the event started a chain of unpleasant events. not a great thing for DU.
  23. not really.. i was on the discord at the time.... i saw them all come in and straight away trolling with memes... this thread is an after effect.
