  1. Thread lock inbound... in before the Pann ? Please join this thread already in progress on the topic. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/23577-clarifications-about-element-stacking-and-ares-maintenance/ ?????
  2. Well I would argue marketing is the primary issue, and an impossible game scope. 1. No game will/can every be everything to everyone. 2. A game can however, be a very a great thing to specific niche of players. GDC actually has a great video on this on Youtube you should watch some time... JC started us down a vision of one game to rule them all, a game for everyone, where everyone could do everything without limits. If you haven't noticed the leadership has changed since then, which has altered the scope of the game and the development path. It has also forced the developers to rebuilding the airplane while flying it... and by the amount of help requests for construct repairs in-game we all know how well that works ?. Last but not least, there are some very good reasons you don't typically expose your developers to the community for direct engagement, it usually goes very wrong both ways.
  3. Sorry though this would be off topic in here... reposting, since my thread is locked. I don't believe a player vs. NQ dynamic is productive. Despite the real player pain points that seem to get harder to swallow with changes like today, and things like the implementation of taxes which have caused some of us major loss, and as I see it balance issues to chores vs. fun. On NQ's side it is a communication issue that keeps flaring up the community. Understandable we as player in a vacuum of information will come up with our own assumptions for the reasons of changes, and it won't work to NQ's favor. That said, I believe NQ keeps hoping we will do something more positive than the threads of angst. Honestly though, we as a community are in a vacuum of actionable guidance. Without an option or path that feels productive layed out for us, I think people will default to the most basic, simple, direct thing, verbally take up arms and flame NQ on the threads, cause we have no other tools available to us other than protest to vent/process/respond to the pain of some of these updates... Viable reasons NQ did what they did... Staggering: Server strain, I can wait 3 additional days, this isn't worth getting fired up about. Pretty simple. HQ'ed Tiles: Avoid forcing players who have inactive subs to resub just to protect assets. Honestly, they are damned if they do here, damned if they don't. If they didn't do this they are the greedy company trying to force people to resub so they don't lose their stuff. If they do this they are liars that just want to rob us of fun and rights to loot and pillage... There isn't any information here to help me understand why they did this, I can only assume. I don't see a scenario here where NQ walks out of this without looking like NQ vs. Community. All that said, letting us know there are technical issues that could harm the server would be a good call. "Following last Tuesday's maintenance, we monitored the effect of territory upkeep as it was applied for the first time to the live server." - Pann HQ'ing 5 tiles and not providing any information, is exactly the type of thing breeding the mistrust between NQ and community... This is where NQ has the opportunity to improve in communication so it isn't a developer vs. player dynamic. When players are not given clear explanations, we as a community come up with our own answers, and our imaginations are far worse, and much more negative at this point than reality on any given change. @NQ-Pann @NQ-Deckard
  4. 100% on point in frustration. - Taxes are still unbalanced - HQ'ed tiles, are knee jerk solution to players being unable to return/rejoin. - Need more incentive to leave safe zone, take the risk honestly. - Game scope does seem to be reducing but necessary to secure games future. I am hoping they will take December to balance taxes, look at player proposed solutions first then move onto some of these other things.
  5. I think the 5 tile HQ'ing is a poor implementation of trying to keep the player from returning to nothing. I think they should have dynamic cores (which we can't claim anyway) magic bp'ed back to them... and lose the statics... so atleast they have a ship and a sanct tile to rebuild.
  6. I agree without better gameplay mechanics/incentives it will just be used a way to troll people you don't like lol.
  7. Can you read yourself? Should NQ point guns at our heads to play their game? - Joa First of all I think there is a language barrier of some sort or you can hopefully slow down and re-read vs. misunderstanding my statements, because your replies don't really match what I have written if you read them without jumping in for an attack. PS, you do not represent the community in anyway. - Joa 100%, I don't, I am commenting on a dynamic I am seeing in the forums right now, and saying that it can't feel good for the developers or help them do their job better if they feel they are getting slammed every day by us. update: I do represent my views as part of the community though and have the right to express them. I am not speaking for everyone, I am commenting on a bad dynamic that I see that we need to fix vs. continue to escalate. One I feel I am at fault for helping create or further. YOU ARE WRONG. The terms of use of this forum were accepted by you when you joined. You should not have joined in the 1st place if you did not agree with the terms. - Joa (Yesterday) Play your game, report your issues and STFU about what NQ should do with other player's assets. - Joa (today) No one needs to be telling anyone to STFU. It is a public forum, and we all have equal rights to post, regardless of if we dislike someone or not. You don't have to read my posts or respond if you don't like my views. If you are going to try to school me on terms/rules of the forums and tell me I need to leave, then you need to stop breaking those rules yourself. Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house. I think you are failing to see that I am making a dynamic change from my previous stance, and working to actually make things better vs. burn the forums down with angst. I want to see the game improve, I don't want a growing divide between NQ & the Community... Maybe go back and re-read Joa, and see if you still see my post the same way...
  8. Regarding NQ's communication, I made a post on this... I think this is probably the root issues even more than the changes themselves... how the changes are announced/communicated.

  10. Building a treadmill of restrictions to preserve what you have though is a stress inducer that kills creativity, especially if taken from this min/max approach to economics. Imagine you had legos, and first you have to earn the materials or buy your legos, then every week you had to pay for those legos over and over again, for every peace or in this case set of pieces. Why pay for legos every week when you can go play legos where you don't have do tedious chores with your limited time... Imagine minecraft in single player with weekly taxes per block... dead Imagine space engineers with weekly taxes per block... dead Imagine if Second Life taxed your inventory weekly based on number of items and then started deleting things out you paid real money for... dead Imagine having a treadmill where everything you have earned you now have weekly chores on top of paying RL money to do those chores... dead, dead, dead.... This model is simply too restrictive and punishing, and is a TERRIBLE idea. It is Demeter times 100 even worse... on a micro managing level of insanity. This is how you kill a game.
  11. To a builder there is a huge difference here between 100 tiles and 100 cores... Just like there is a huge difference between a builder and an economically focused player in earnings... you are basically double stacking against builders with this idea, and would 100% leave game with a system like this the day it is implemented, cause I would no longer be able to keep anything at all without slaving for the game... This would be MAGNITUDES worse than the current tax system for builders/creatives, and just can't be allowed to happen... period.
  12. I agree, 1 voxel wide towers shouldn't be a think. Technically, render issues are the true problem, but a harder problem to solve given all the various hardware configs people run. A building height cap would probably be the easiest solution.
  13. I do think we need to do something about build height. That is my feedback on this thread.
  14. Added a Resolution #4 & #5 based on ideas by Sostraphaios. Really want peoples feedback on if you feel these would be effective changes to Demeter, if there is anything you would want to change out for another idea etc...
  15. Sostraphaios good to see you make your first post on forums! ❤️ I am adding a modified version of some of your ideas to the document I am building for NQ to hopefully review for potential changes to Demeter... glad to have you on here, you are a solid guy. A lot of great ideas here. Also added your doubling T1 & T2 as resolution #5.
  16. I have yelled and screamed in forums and in general chat since Demeter update went live. I am just as angry as anyone, I love my community, loved the two year project I lost, and feel NQ definitely needs to make changes to prevent Demeter from punishing people for not being able to play all day every day, or not being purely economy gain focused. So you know when I make a post going to tell you what I think whether you like it or not, as I have for the past 236 posts in just about two weeks, I will always be honest about how I feel, and speak as unfiltered as I can without earning myself a ban from forums or game. I think feedback & criticism is one thing, toxic berating and constant posting of poison and salt all day doesn't help the devs be more effective at their jobs, isn't going to grow our community in-game. I am 100% guilty of this, like a lot of it, been very hot headed and ill tempered, so I am taking some public accountability by choice, cause that is what you do, when you realize you are wrong in how you are going about things. So I am saying this to myself as much to anyone who reads it. Not going to get into the details on the change of heart here, but will say looking back at the past two weeks, I haven't exactly been nice, kind, accurate, or the best contributor to this community. @NQ-Pann you didn't ask for it, but wanted to offer a public apology cause I was judgmental, and honestly more than just a bit $)(*@ towards you in my comments since the vlog. All this said, not kissing anyone's @!)(*# cause I simply refuse to do that, $)(*@ that, it ain't my style. Also I'm not helping anyone either by slamming NQ all day in forums either, just saying. Like it or not this is where I stand on the issue, as I know I have been encouraging a lot more negative on the forums than would have been here without me and my posts. So there it is, the rest I am sure will hash itself out, just wanted to let people know where my head and heart are at with things.
  17. Resolution #3 added as proposed by Warlander, document has been greatly reduced with links for greater detail if the dev's choose to deep dive. Document will be limited to only two pages to have the best chance possible to be reviewed by NQ. Looking for 2-3 more potential resolutions for Dementor changes.
  18. Your Rust system would be the death of every builder and shop owner and landing runway in the game. Structures are often multi core, specifically stores, any ideas of rental units etc. You would also be killing Freeport and Utopia as these taxes would be worse than tile taxes currently. That said I do agree with the 7 day tile calibration and have written a modified resolution into the Dementor Treaty.
  19. There is a game, just not the one you are used to... Right now it centers around Mining Asteroids and Mining Units for the most part, unless you want to afk fly a mission. This is why so many players are up in arms. Unfortunately, their frustrations are valid and legitimate, and it is hard for a lot of players. That said I think this thread is a step in the right direction, we have to work towards proposing solutions vs. just naming the problems.
  20. I would agree to doubling or tripling the volume of Ore... cause spatially you can't haul the weight of the volume you normally can without stacking tons of elements together in some super ugly fashion. Planet rotation would be terrible under current DU conditions...
  21. Initially I thought it was cause orgs could claim tiles at only 140k, but that was an unintended mechanic... now I just think it is another money sink.
  22. There is no how to make polls... cause the ability has been removed, lol.
  23. Though it isn't within the scope of this document, I would like to see exceptions made for dynamic constructs to run industry while in space... giving us something to do while we run our long multi-hour hauls.
  24. Where do I have the option to create polls in DU Discord?
