  1. The frequency of our updates will slow down, just like everything else now that the Kickstarter is over. Anyways, BOO is starting to branch off in to Battlefield 1, and we may be opening up a group in Eve here very shortly. If you're new to the community, and want to have some gaming fun with other swashbuckling nerds, then BOO is the place for you.

Once our sub-communities get some roots planted in those games, I'll be sure to provide all necessary info for you guys to know how to join them etc.

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

  2. Welcome Komplex to BOO.

With the kickstarter done, things have been slowing down around here. Fortunately we got them there vigi games to keep us occupied as a community of gamers. Currently we're playing a good amount of Minecraft and Ark, and Battlefield 1 may be added to that list here soon depending on the feedback from that game.

We've also got boobs, butts, and rum in our discord which automatically makes us better than everyone else. But BYOB (Bring Your Own Bacon).

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

  3. I always like logos that are very regular and will fit into a perfect circle. It makes for easier formatting especially. I very much like the octagonal one above this post, very well designed. Cinderfall's logo is rather symbolic (perhaps not so much as the Aether's) but keeping to a relatively minimal style at the same time:

*Also, @Cybrex I've always found the BOO logo somewhat difficult to see, especially on dark backgrounds - and the honeybadger is virtually invisible. A lighter and more contrasting color scheme would be helpful in visibility. Suggestions for the design team.
You're right, ive been meaning to get to it, but eh, we'll get around to it. :D
  4. I really like the futuristic style as well - your logo looks good : )

I designed a construct brand a while back:

    Ad_Astra_Logo_White.png

Very borderlands esque to me, I like it. Just slight suggestion though, I feel it would look "cleaner" if the bottoms of the "A" merged seamlessly with the circle.

Minimalism is becoming the popular with logos/brands these days. I think someone explained it to me like "debranding". Something to do with customers not trusting companies if their logo had a lot of stuff going on with their brand. To be fair though, it does look better. Less is more!

Anyways, this was done up by some guys in BOO. Feel free to use for inspiration.

  5. in such kind of games it's less a matter of mechanics but more the meta gaming.

politics will happen but mostly out of the game

This is what I have been saying since day one. Politics aren't going to function as most would seem to think it would in game. You can try to keep everything in character, but you'll fall short every time if you relegate yourself that much. The meta game/politics outside of the game itself are what wars and agreements will be made over. I'd be willing to bet money on that too.

And just to add more from my personal opinion, real world politics are a mess. Keep that shit out of Dual Universe. Just play the game, and adapt to the meta game as it progress'. Keep things simple and to the point.

  6. Lol, you're funny.  I will give you that.

You're one of those people who take snippets of a conversation and target that singular facet.

If you don't realize that having self destruct pre-loaded onto every single construct is broken, I am glad you aren't the head of development here.

The more time they waste on making a complex self destruct system, the less time they spend on actual important aspects of the game.  If you don't realize this, I'm glad you're not the head of development.

The more I read your posts, the more I see someone who refuses to see how things impact the bigger picture.

"I'm right, everyone else is wrong!  Because!"

    As an aside:

You constantly call me a pirate, yet I don't have plans to become a pirate?  Since when did you rule my life?

    As another aside:

Your point is instantly nullified the minute you start insulting people... which everyone who has a disagreeing viewpoint from you seems to receive that treatment.

It isn't even his final form.

    Welcome to the community.

  7. Welcome to BOO..

Also, alongside our Minecraft group, we'll also have a modded Ark: Survival Evolved server running by tonight. A few of us are already waiting to get started. Feel free to join us, and I'll post server info for both here when I get off work tonight.

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

  8. If you're looking for people to run with for Alpha/Beta and stick to doing your own thing - join Alpha Academy.

If you want to do your own thing, but also be involved in a community, then there are several to choose from on the Community Portal here - https://community.dualthegame.com/

All that said, take your time. There is no reason to rush head first in to a present community with where the games development currently is. We're in for a long, rocky road now that the Kickstarter is done and while we wait until Alpha. So choose who you want to interact with carefully. ;)

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

  9. For the record, I support self destruct and am glad it is a feature being implemented. Even in the event I am attempting to capture a ship, if they decide to self destruct before I board, then so be it.

But there should be methods an attacker can also use to counter that reaction. Whether that be through EMP methods or what have you.

Let's say someone engages their self destruct protocol. Have that send out a 1 minute timer warning to everyone in the immediate area, and also bring the ship to a complete and sudden stop, powering down essentially. This makes the target vulnerable for a fast response by an attacker to board, and disable the self destruct through a very brief hacking mini game. I won't get in to specifics, but it's just an idea.

I'm on board for anything so long as there is a proper counter to each action.

  10. Fellow Boobians,

I want to say thank you again for your participation in voting for your preferred “command structure”. I use that term lightly, as no one is truly in charge of you. This is just to make sure everyone in BOO is on board with the organization we have for our team leaders, and myself. Option 3 won the vote, and now I will explain in detail what this means.

Option 3 is really no different than from what we have been working with. (titles are just titles, but we stuck with this since we felt it fit our style better than the last.)

Pirate King – This is filled by myself, Cybrex. For all intents and purposes, my word is law so long as it abides by our new made Code. That said, you all know me by now to always look to you guys for advice or finalization on most topics. I am merely here to be your guide for this community, and provide direction where needed.

Pirate Overseer – This is filled by Blacksythe, whom you all voted in a short while ago. Sythe works very close with me on most things BOO. He coordinates our teams which are led by our Pirate Lords, and helps convey my intent to each team respectively. This has worked very well so far, and will not change.

Pirate Lords – Currently we have Anslem Vry, Tex007, and Kakakalaa filling the roles as Pirate Lord. I am looking for two more, so feel free to inquire about that.

And that’s it. The rest is all you. Short, sweet, and fair I think. I’ll be redoing our Discord to make it look nicer, and clean up the roles a bit.

In other news, we shared The Code with you all yesterday. I’ll post the link here so you guys can read over it if you want. I will be uploading it to its own section on our website, so it will be readily accessible from there – https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5q20pCCczJRS0UyRHJtMVludnM

Understand that this is merely the first iteration of our “Code”. It is there to act as guide lines for us, and I hope you can all learn to police each other to keep within the boundaries of The Code. I understand if you feel that this seems like a way for us to put shackles on you, but remember we are still a gaming community outside of Dual Universe. If you feel any of the Laws are unfair, then please bring it up with the staff.

    Thanks,

    Cybrex

I snagged that from our website, which you can view here - http://www.dualoutlaws.com/forums/topic/changes-to-our-foundation/

We'll be putting The Code up on our website in a few days, and I may see about incorporating it in to the OP on this thread, but we'll see. It's a handful of pictures, which by the way, thank you Blacksythe for putting those together.

    Thanks,

    Cybrex
