  1. The Battle of the New Year With the recent patch NQ added two space resource spots into the game. These resource spots can be mined for the most valuable resources in the game. The building blocks for powerful exotic elements, weapons, and even warp beacons. Each of these space resource spots is worth billions to the organization that owns them. In the current state of DU power struggle, there are only two real superpowers. Legion, a pvp alliance formed from the ashes of the beta alliance AC and Lodestar, a large coalition of multiple organizations bounded together to fight the threat that Legion poses. In the opening days of the patch there were some back-and-forth battles for control of the alien cores with Lodestar eventually claiming them and holding them for weeks. After constant harassment over the holiday season Legion was finally ready to make its move. Legion reinforced the alien cores which put the cores into invulnerability until a time chosen by the defending owner. The first of the cores coming out at 00:43 utc new years day. This Video is of this battle. The battle of the New year ended up being one of the best fleet fights I have ever been in. The back and forth and strategies both sides use were evolving and the skills of the pilots evolving even mid-battle led to an intense battle and one for the history books. Legion ended up retaking the alien cores for now. Good fight to Lodestar and I hope to have many more battles to come!
  2. Some of the most fun I have ever had in DU. Been waiting for something like that for years. GF to everybody involved hope we get a lot more like that
  3. Hello all, I thought I would take the time to write up a summary of the events that led to the creation of Legion. For those unaware, Legion is a new pvp alliance formed from a group of former Ascendancy member orgs and as far as i know, Legion is the largest alliance in DU at the moment in terms of character count and fleet size. The buildup to this mass exodus from AC was a long time coming. The first issue being an issue of many orgs in DU, afk leadership. AC was plagued with afk leaders and in a few cases entire organizations that had moved on to other games but did not step down from leadership or giving up their voting powers. These people would continue to vote on important issues and control the actions of the people who actually play the game. For example a vote was started in the AC to ban the shooting of ships in pvp space unless they shot first, effectively banning any control over space resources. This was voted on and decided by people who primarily didn’t play the game. After months of only a small subset of AC players actually helping and contributing to the growth of the Alliance the catalyst for the departure was the announcement of asteroids. ATOM attempted to pass a vote requiring all AC orgs to participate in the defense of space assets. This vote ended up failing with the majority of the votes cast by players who no longer played the game or who never participated in the alliance in general. Du has evolved from the beginning, while at first the only thing that mattered was the amount of people in your du community org, to building as a group because of a lack of a market, to single players being able to buy and build everything possible in the game. The game has changed from being a solo minecraft type game to a game where cooperation matters and more, specifically pvp Space matters. Having easy access to missions, the best way to make money in the game. To asteroids in space having the most valuable resources in the coming patch. Knowing who has your back, who will be there to help you without thinking, and who is in it only for themselves has become extremely important. Legion was founded on these ideas. Getting access to the best income and resources in the game through pvp. Creating the largest fleet to ensure the safety of this income. Generating content to keep people engaged and playing. And generally improving our skill and members standing in the universe. Signed, Mulligan Super legate of ATOM Executive of Legion
  4. Bye spicerub! Your reasons for leaving are all spot on and things we all worry about and struggle with. I hope you enjoy whatever game you move onto. I’ve always been a big fan of your ship building and will miss seeing your designs out there. obligatory can I have your stuff?
  5. One thing I would like to add to the discussion is that it’s a rather known issue that when a ship starts taking a lot of voxel damage the game lags for that person involved. Also note we out numbered boo by quite a lot and had a lot of ships/gunners in the fleet. When the ac fleet first was entering the pvp zone the very first ship in range was a HVC ship which most of the fleet started shooting at once as we flew by, 10 ish ships shooting at once on one target, the first reported bit of lag. Next when we started moving deeper in the pvp zone we ran into a second target, the blitz ship. We free engaged the few ships and after chasing HVC off the field we had 11? Ships shooting a single massive blitz gold ship at once. I believe the issue you guys experienced was just how many more ships we had all shooting just a few targets causing the lag. Sorry you guys had issues and ultimately I hope nq look into it. We were happy for the fight though regardless
  6. To be clear the reason ATOM was there was because the last public event BOO attempted to form and crash it but just couldn't get the numbers. The only being there because atom was narrative is a little weak. BOO has a real activity problem and can't seem to keep their members playing, their actual presence in space is very rare. They can field the numbers to put out a fleet every month or so. The real story here is how badly BOO got beaten without AC even having to form. half our fleet were starwars event ships and the non atom AC people were just participating in the event and reshipped once we saw BOO on grid. I hope the event encourages more BOO members to play and stop resorting to discord and forum shit posting. it would be nice have an enemy that's an actual threat.

  10. Reading through a lot of the responses I think one of the issues with du is that PvP is so new to DU. Being one of the last pillars to be introduced to the game a lot of the old vocal alpha players are strongly against pvp. It makes sense. For years the Kickstarter backers have been playing Minecraft in space and have built their own image of what the game should be in their heads. To me the biggest issue with DU is the lack of endgame content. Without a competitive advantage or side of the game there’s no point for emergent gameplay and it comes down to discord pvp. People resort to drama when they are bored. Every part of the game is important and there needs to be a blend of play styles in order for the game to succeed. As the game is right now you can get late game in a single day of playing and sit on a mega node chewing a hematite vein and make crazy amounts of money. So you are now 15 hours into this game you can afford anything you want, what do you do now? The builders will build, the miners will mine, the factory boys will factory. The pvpers have a lack of content and to me pvp is the “endgame” . pvp creates a need for builders a need for miners a need for industry a need for creatives and basically all pillars lead to the consumers which are the pvpers. some of what @blazemonger said is right pvpers need all the other pillars to work what @Anderson Williams Said is also right. pvp is fun in its current state and just need a tweak/more incentive to do it. There are too many armchair generals who haven’t even tried it As a leader of a small pvp org. NQ needs to give me a reason to go to war. Give me a reason to buy large quantities of items. Give me a reason to make allies and enemies. Give me a reason keep playing this game.
