i just opened another thread just before this Q/A was created...
Ok, usually i am not negative but the balance of Demeter on the PTS server has some severe problems.

    1. Territory costs of 1m per week:
this will lead to almost nobody claiming any tiles any more outside of the sanc moon unless the territory can produce some serious income. so all "player made content" will disappear after some time

    2. Scanning results do not get deleted and show l/h for mining units
this will lead to ALL really valuable tiles being claimed within the first 24h after demeter goes live, as it is really easy to identify  the most powerful tiles for mining units if you have containers full with scanner results.
so after day 1, the fun is over and the "mega tiles" will be claimed by those players/orgs that have all the existing scans.

NQ, as demeter is balanced on the PTS, it would kill the game if it goes to the live server

    - New players some days later would not have a chance to find income opportunities despite missions.
    - earning quanta will be a lot harder, so people would stop spending.. this would kill industrialists workflow.
    - the imbalance between experienced players/orgs and new players would get worse and even more players would demand a wipe or simply not enjoy the game

    please reconsider your decisions.

    From miners perspective:
Let's picture out how all would start when Demeter – Territory taxes and auto miners hit the fan.

    Day one:
First Taxes are due. You need to have Quanta reserves to pay taxes of all tiles you own. Or else they will be instantly confiscated.
Then you need to have Quanta reserves to buy Schemas to craft your first mining units. Or need to have Quanta reserves to buy mining units. For that you need to wait for first units to become available at markets. … tick tock tick tock, next date for due taxes is closing.. Prices will be astronomical, because if you are not able to craft your mining units yon NEED to buy them before your property is confiscated.
Then you need to place our mining units. Before that you may have change to reactivate those tiles which are past due of tax payments.
Then you just hope that market bots are not removed, and ore prices stay high enough that you can afford the new cost of ownership for tiles.
So, if you have more than one or two tiles total in universe, do you have enough quanta reserves to keep them before you are able to recreate your mining gameplay?

I am glad we are going to the auto miners but not sure why we had to add a mini game to do it. As for the taxes 1 mil per tile for a week is too much. maybe 250K a week would be better.

We have yet to hear what will happen after the tile is released if you don't pay. This would be a great salvage opportunity.

The rollout of the airbrakes should have also been a major note as this changes a lot of ships. And not something we find out after logging into the PTS.

As for killing the game, not sure about that. 0.23 did that pretty well. This does make the Sanctuary moon viable and maybe that is what NQ wants in the end. At least for now. The subtle way to do a wipe.

No, I want the ability to pay for the things I have, without having to play annoying mini-games, and own 36 auto-miners to run a simple factory.

I want a mission system that can't be exploited by having 20 alts AFKing and VRing into missions by limiting the number of mission packages a core can hold.

I want the players building the "civilization" to define the economy, not have it sucked away by an invisible entity with no gain.

I want the developers to listen to the majority of people who have said at the current rate of tax and ore collection, this is a bad idea and is going to lead to less people enjoying and playing the game. Rather than the two or three people that align with their idea of "We do what we want and you'll get over it".

I want a new player to be able to log in and not feel like they are stuck on Sanctuary surface mining, mindlessly clicking ores like it's Cookie Clicker and not Dual Universe, to be able to pay for the over-priced components to build decent ships, that don't look like works of art covered in brake stickers.

    That's what I want.

What do YOU want? Besides paying a useless tax.

That could still be achieved without a tax system that punishes the casual player. Likewise, 3 months is not enough for some- what about men/women in military service? Or heck, those that get sick and are unable to play for extended period of time? Even with low taxes with a years worth of time, it'd still allow a cleanup of the landscape of those that quit loooong ago.

The taxation system doesn't feel like much to the "whales" in this game I've talked to- but not everyone is loaded with quanta, nor plays every-day. Some people I know play once a week, and for many of them this system is largely a let-down with the combination of taxes and perceived low ore outputs of auto-miners.

Remove the territory tax and link the property to a subscription. As soon as the sub expires plus 4 weeks of error tolerance, the territory and everything on it becomes accessible for all to loot. if an active subscription is running, your own things are secured. So the players can keep everything and NQ gets support through the sub. Win-win and nobody cries.

    Dear NQ,

If you are trying to fix the problem of too many players buying tiles and then leaving the game with all of their territory still claimed, taxes can be the answer. I even like the idea of taxes for this very reason but I think tax pricing is very wrong. Any amount of taxes even an insignificant amount of taxes would acomplish the goal.

If all I had to do was pay 1000 quanta a month taxes per tile that would fix it. I'm not saying it should be that low either but as long as there is something I need to pay every month or I will lose my territories it will accomplish the goal of getting rid of abandoned players' territories.  It needs to be a very small amount, and to prevent players owning 2000 territories easily, it should go up in price when buying a territory, like it currently does.

Now lets talk about the economy. The economy will fail if more money is being removed from the economy than being put in. The way I see it right now the only money going into the economy is the 150k a day for each players daily login and the few players doing missions from the market. Your proposed taxes will subtract far more than this amount of money every day eventually causing an economic collapse in the game. Economics 101.  If most of the player money gets subtracted from the game by taxes how does money reenter the game or get put back in the system? Missions and 150k a day? Hell no, do not force me to play your unfun and low profit missions.

This is supposed to be a game about freedom and playing the way you want but after these changes I will be forced to spend many hours a week just to keep owning the tiles that I spent a lot of time earning money to own already.  I don’t want to pay a monthly fee for that.

I hope for the future of this game that the taxes will be adjusted to be much more reasonable.

Greetings, my name is Selena and I’m so excited about Dual Universe. What makes this game unique is it being completely player driven. Every aspect of the universe is determined by the players. This makes the scope and opportunities limitless.
