So skill points...what's the plan?

You didn't pay attention to my original post. This isn't about complaining or changing the system. This is about how the existing system will treat future players down the line, which can easily be tweeked. Regardless of what others have said about time to train to a reasonable level of skill, there is absolutely no catch-up method for new players. I'm an alpha backer and even I can't get behind having a leg up for the rest of this game just because I got here first.

yes - and why should there be a catch up? Why no catch up for quanta? or ships? or bases? or anything?

I tell you why: because you CAN catch up

Looking at one "old" char it's ofc a huge difference. That one can not only fly perfectly with lvl 5s and has every gun skill on 5 too plus on top of it all he even has industry and building maxxed out too, because heck - why not when he doesn't know what to skill next.

A "new" char has nothing and can't compete with that - true. And from this perspective it looks like he needs to "catch up"

BUT

This should be an MMO and ppl should specialize. In an org, such "huge" advantages aren't huge anymore but merely a nice bonus to such old chars - they're more versatile and can hop in if some other guy is missing or if someone quickly needs a boost in their build. But other than that it doesn't matter - a big enough and well organised noobgroup can do the same thing as vets in about 1 or 2 months.

Release in 11 months??  I really doubt that.  I think it will be pushed back a few times.  Lots of things need fixing, and PVP is going to be released.  That will require balancing and fixing within itself.  I really don't see 11months.

That's what NQ says - End of 21 is release. And JC even goes so far to say "there are no red flags indicating that we need to delay". I don't believe a single word of that, but that's what they officially state so I go with that, true or not.

JC, when asked, said he sees no red flags that make him think that NQ will not be able to deliver the game as they intended (including all features mentioned and bugfixed, optimized and polished) on time end of 2021.

That means the game needs to be done in about 8 months tops, with final polish taking a month or so.

Again, here's a list of what NQ says they will have done, ready for release in the next few months: (I'd say that 8 months is a few in this context)

People are not doing PvP because it is a place holder you can easily avoid.

Interesting that you see this game as such a competition, I supposed that is the difference in our attitudes.  Can you explain what this 'advantage' is please?  I am building a civilisation, I am not in competition with anyone. My org is a team of two players and we sell ships, we trade goods, are making a racing team, building a casino.  Not sure any BIG ORG has 'played with me' and they will certainly never 'tax', infact all the big orgs I know (and i know many) have been very friendly and helpful.  Prehaps this is the problem, you are talking about what you think big orgs are, rather than having any actually interaction with them.

If you see this game as everyone is in competition with each other (which they are not), then your concerns are valid but, as with civilisation, we are not actually all against each other, just living in the same place.

you: "Can you explain what this 'advantage' is please?"

-On one stream, of one guy, belonging to one big corporation, he showed and explained how he made 450,000,000 quanta the day after 0.23 was dropped.  He said it was planned and others in his corporation, and all the big corporations were doing it.  The first and second blueprint fiasco were also planned for the big corporations.  I'm sure some lucky people got rich too, but they were lucky.

you:  "I am building a civilisation, I am not in competition with anyone. My org is a team of two players and we sell ships, we trade goods, are making a racing team"

-You are NOT in competition?  selling ships is competition, trading goods is competition, you are making a racing team to do what exactly... compete?????  Dude, you can't say you're not in competition, and then list the things you are competing in...

you: "infact all the big orgs I know (and i know many) have been very friendly and helpful"

-I predict that your statement will not age well.

you: "If you see this game as everyone is in competition with each other (which they are not)"

me:  "If you're just going to build for yourself then the points do not matter.  If you are going to do anything competitive (industry, market, pvp, ect) then your fucked."

-The important word here is 'IF'.  How, HOW?, are you interpreting my statement as saying EVERYONE is in competition with each other?  I didn't compete with anyone, I build for myself.  When I have extra of something and I want to get rid of it, I undercut everyone on the AH by a good amount. I know this is at a loss, but I am not interested in COMPETING on the AH.

The problem here is that your posts suggests that you are living in the 'now'.  My post is talking about the 'later'. And maybe it wasn't made as clear as it should have been for some readers.

The game, in its current form, doesn't allow for the big corporations to through their weight around.  But when surface PVP comes out, they absolutely will.  Plus the pirates, and griefers will be in full swing having a field day with players outside the safe area.  This will make higher tier ore harder to get, and outrageously expensive to buy.  I predict that this will force players to the safe zone, and force some players out of the game.  I also predict that most new players will see the game for what it is and stop playing shortly after, causing sustainability to take a big hit.

So, if you are a new player and thinking about getting your friends to play.  Be carful, the current game is 'safe', but it is not intended to be 'safe'.  I suggest you wait until surface PVP comes out before you dedicate time and money into a game that is, currently, not indicative to what the game is going to be.

"The trick is to never let the new players, or the players having 'fun', catch on to what the game really is.  A corporation game, where the corporations have a gross advantage over everyone else so they can take advantage of everyone else."
