It does not matter where you are from, but often, we have or had members from the places shown above, with a focus on but not restricted to European heritages. We're dynamic and next to qualified motivated employees, we also look for contractors and partners. You are interested in working with us? Simply contact us - while our promotional hubs listed above offer more information and serve as central spectrum presence and hub for us, we prefer to actively engage in conversation with potential future employees, contractors and partners. This is the best way to find your place here and to ask any questions before submitting an application! But why consider signing up? With our new strategic goals provided by the board, we first and foremost look for potential leadership and management material to establish a working foundation for the Corporation. While we wouldn't say no to fitting specialists who focus on specific tasks, in the long run we need a competent number of managing staff that help shape the style and direction of the Corporation. You should therefore apply with this in mind. How can you apply? The first step here is simple: Contact us via »private message to find out if and how we can move forward together. While we currently overhaul and generally offer an application system, at this time we prefer the direct interaction with potential applicants. ⚠ So what is Vulture Corporation in a nutshell? Vulture Corporation is a small but slowly growing player organization, formerly in Star Citizen and now Dual Universe. Most current members are from European timezones but it should not be a deterrent for others as we want to recruit internationally for a broader coverage and experience - we did this before after all in a Minecraft server community years ago where we were very successful, with members from the US to Europe and Russia. Dual Universe could be the perfect "reboot" for us in terms of sandbox roots. We want to highlight the fact that we want to support and engage in roughly moderate levels of RP and have an immersive experience. After all, this group was created by roleplayers initially. Initial members had broad RP experiences with both elements of active and passive RP so today we strive for "immersion". An immersive experience is vital for us and can contain active and passive RP alike. We want to bridge worlds where people that are not fully and those that are fully into RP can get along just fine and enjoy what is to come in Dual Universe. While I consider myself as modest person I think the best example of how we feel about RP and what effort we want to invest is our multimedia such as promotional videos or AI contact videos. Feedback so far seems to tell us that we're on a good path regarding that. There is a lot of interesting and even great groups and multimedia out there but I did not see the same style elsewhere so far, so I think we're somewhat unique in that area. We currently have a few members in reserve and do not specifically focus on Dual Universe at this time - obviously, given the lack of content or accessibility yet, but we always look for alternatives. In between members can play what they have together, for example we recently dipped into "7 days to die" where a member provided a small dedicated server. Perhaps you can bring a new addition on the table as we wait for DU or you assist us with multimedia and specifying company lore more. To stress it, however, our "primary games" we wait for are still being developed, we have no hard alternatives. We so far have a flat hierarchy on an OOC basis and prefer a healthy inner social climate where de-escalation is key to preventing notable conflicts in the first place. Chances are you're ultimately not interested or part of a group already and simply taking a look, but in either case we're happy about feedback. What should change? What is right just the way it is? Let us know. You might just get it back later when it matters to you. I believe this should suffice for a more or less solid overview so far. If something is unclear, simply ask. We don't bite, and with that said, I thank you for your attention. - Subject to change -

I'm looking forward to this game very much, and instead of picturing myself flying around killing things in a fighter ship, I imagine myself working solo or freelance for other trading groups. I'm concerned with how payment will be reinforced in this game, whether it be used with currency or other trade goods. Let's say I've dropped off some rare minerals and the other party refuses to pay, how would I prevent this? Would I need the support of an organisation that provides security? Is there a contract system in place, and how flexible is it? Should I make the buyer pay a bit first, then collect the rest upon arrival? Can I sue them in-game or place a bounty? I've looked at some other posts related to this, but nothing looks guaranteed so far. I'd like to hear your thoughts, thanks.

- This is a placeholder image for now; the name is subject to change - As previously mentioned in the corporate thread we hereby initiate the 'next phase' of this project. STATUS WORK IN PROGRESS - LONG TERM ASSETS AND UNITSAirwatch (Reserved, ground component -> urban / rural patrol, traffic management duties and highway / speedway patrol) (Reserved, riot component) (Reserved, tactical component) (Reserved, corrections component) CORE INTENTION Vulture Corporation tries to spearhead and / or support a police force for long-term stability of moderate to major urban centres. With low size focus may be on one or two. Focus can include training, tactics and equipment such as vehicles (possibly incl. design) and less-than-lethal and lethal weaponry. Units are deployed after sufficient law and tactical training to work under the regulations and laws set by VPOL and / or any city, faction or alliance officials that have sufficient influence in the according city. There is currently and for the foreseeable future no intention to portray an intergalactic police force - for any security contracting needs we refer to corporations or contractors. As independent player nations and states will likely try to run their own security or police forces, we look for those interested in bolstering their (future) city or larger settlements with a dedicated police force. This means that this project is so far aiming at partners and joint city projects where several parties share tasks and responsibilities. Of course, given demand it is also possible that existing entities bolster their own forces. In a nutshell, picture a dedicated police unit "for hire" without any cliché downsides such as tiered insurance levels per city dweller. CORE VALUES VPOL will so far be inspired and guided by a set of tweaked principles of a constitutional state or a state under the rule of law. German users could surely relate to the word "Rechtsstaat" - details would depend on the other party (the city civil authorities, nation or alliance) but a general approach of de-escalation is favored and encouraged. These will find some specification in basic regulations and guidelines. In a nutshell we don't look for an authoritarian mindset. Q & A (add your own via thread or PM) - Specifics will follow - CAREER - Specifics will follow - We are glad for anyone interested in this project - while this project is initiated and supported by Vulture Corporation, you don't have to become a member of said entity - you can so far become a VPOL member while being part of an existing organization or alliance as long as no conflict of interest with the respective city authorities that we back arises. A clean slate is to be expected, however. LINKS - Specifics will follow - FEEDBACK Your feedback, ideas and support help. Let us know what you think so we can adapt - or consider it, at least. mercenary Vanguard Mercenaries -- Recruiting
DarkTemplar posted a topic in Org Updates & Announcements
Vanguard ~~~ Founded: 1st Feb 2017 Founders: Dark, Sketch, Owe166 Classification: Mercenary Seriously Casual Recruitment: Open ~~~ ~~~ What is Vanguard? Vanguard is a private mercenary corporation that holds diversity, community, and teamwork in the highest regard. Unlike simple soldiers or bodyguards who are designed to follow orders, members of Vanguard are recognized and treated as individuals working in teams. No member is simply an asset, each is unique in their desires and aspirations. While Vanguard the corporation accepts contracting requests, whether or not most requests are accepted is determined by the Vanguard teams and their members. Organizational Structure: The ranking system of Vanguard was designed with simplicity in mind. This was part of a conscious effort to eliminate possible confusion regarding power and status within the company. At the highest level, a Platoon Leader and their assistant(s) oversee four different Squads. Each Squad has a squad leader and assistant squad leader overseeing the members. Typically, a vanguard member comes to see their squad members as their family within Dual Universe. Is Vanguard for You? With members spread globally, the Vanguard maintains a constant presence within the universe. As a part of this ubiquitous Vanguard, you will never be truly alone. You will always have a home, and a respectable amount of freedom to pursue your interests while not on an active mission. Individuals who share our ideals, are willing to take on a wide range of assignments, and be a part of a larger family are highly encouraged to apply to Vanguard. Base of Operations: Vanguard plans on operating out of a battle carrier named the Invictus. We aim for her to be a testament to our ability and a beacon of strength for the Vanguard. Apart from the Invictus, another separate, grounded home base will exist for members to carry out their own personal projects in safety and peace. ~~~ Recruitment We are always looking for brave and able men and women to join us! After applying on https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/vanguard-mercenaries, you will be asked a couple of questions asked by a leading member. This is simply an effort to get to know you better, and determine the best placement based on your talents. Want to get to know us first? Join our discord: https://discord.gg/4J5qDqd While there are no requirements to join, but owning a mic is highly recommended due to the prevalence of team-based activity in Vanguard. CHROMION INDUSTRIAL Credit to Aetherios/Infinity for the artwork above During the late pre-Arkship era, an organization rose up to challenge the UN's selection process for the Arkship Program. This organization is known as the Cinderfall Syndicate. Within the Syndicate, there were a few members who branched off into another direction: Industry. With a new goal, these men and women founded Chromion Industrial in hopes of advancing human technology. A SUMMARY Chromion Industrial is a Corporation with an emphasis on Mining and Engineering. We recognize the importance of freedom and creativity, and are looking for creative minds who think outside the box. It should be noted that we are members of Cinderfall Syndicate, and we will respect their authority on political matters. The only requirement to join is that you must be polite. STRUCTURE This corporation has one leader, the Head Director, and below that person, it is structured into three Divisions: MINING DIVISION The Mining Division is in charge of acquiring, refining, and distributing raw materials. This will be led by a Mining Director and two Assistant Mining Directors. The lower command structure of this Division will be determined in the near future. Mining Director- This person is responsible for handling all mining, refining, and distribution of raw materials Assistant Mining Directors- These persons are responsible for the individual aspects of the Mining Division (Mining, Refining, and Distributing) RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION The R&D Division is in charge of manufacturing and producing parts and ships, as well as researching new technologies. This Division will be led by three area directors; The Director of Production, The Director of Research, and The Director of Special Projects; the lower command structure of the individual branches will be completed in the near future. Director of Production- This person's job is to handle the mass production of Chromion Industrial's ships, vehicles, and parts. Director of Research- This person's job is to handle the research of new technologies within Chromion Industrial Director or Special Projects- This person's job is to handle any special orders from specific Organizations, and the research regarding them, should it not already be complete. CHROMION INDUSTRIAL NAVY (CIN) Chromion Industrial offers a place for those who would like to spend their time fighting as well. The Chromion Industrial Navy will be tasked with protecting the members of Chromion Industrial and hunting down any who would attack us. Commander- Leader of all Chromion Industrial Navy (CIN) forces Lieutenant Commander- assists the Commander in his or her duties SHIPBUILDING Chromion Industrial sponsors it's members ship building efforts. What does that mean? Any ship that a Chromion Industrial member designed will be featured in Chromion Industrial markets, if that member wants them to be featured. In exchange for being featured, Chromion will enact a 60/40 profit ratio: Chromion keeping 40% of the profit, the designer keeping 60% There will be a line/brand of ships that are Chromion Industrial make, meaning they are designs created and produced specifically as Chromion Industrial ships, and not designed by a second party, i.e. Individual Members of Chromion Industrial. Every month or so, the R&D department as a collective will be given the task of designing such ships. Occasionally, CI might petition one of it's members to add one of their ship designs to this line, basically buying the design from said member. FUNDS There is no base salary as of yet, however every member of Chromion Industrial will receive a weekly salary. The Directors of each Division will be paid by the Head Director. Each Division will receive a budgeted amount of credits every week, and it is the responsibility of the Directors to distribute some of these funds to each member of their Division at the beginning of each week as their salary. In addition to your base salary, certain accomplishments within the organization will grant you pay bonuses. If a player remains with Chromion Industrial for a particular amount of time, they will be eligible for a raise to their base salary. They will also be eligible for discounts on ships and items produced by Chromion Industrial. Hello explorers, I see more and more communities and organizations setting up authentication based on Dual Universe account in order to identify players on Discords, websites or other places outside the game. However, it's not a simple process and there are lots of potential security breaches (I've seen and reported a few). Thus, I decided to write this post where I describe good security practices and point some common attack scenarios. While this post is mostly directed towards developers and webmasters, I think it's also a good and interested read for all players. How authentication works Currently, Novaquark doesn't provide any way for third party applications to identify a player (they have other priorities like creating the game for now). So, how to do it then ? Usually, we rely on authenticating a player on the third party application via standard login/password authentication and then give to the player a random token he must show on his/her profile. In other words, the authentication process works using the following steps: The player create an account on the third party application. The third party application generates and gives a token to the player (ex: "my-app-auth:396943934983749839"). The player logs into his Dual Universe account and updates his profile, appending the token. The player tells the application that token is uploaded on his profile (specifying his/her profile name or URL). The application browses the profile, read the player name and public information (organizations, titles, etc.). It also double-check that the token is present and correct. The application then "links" the local account to the player profile and may autorise access to restricted content. When security fails This list is not exhaustive, but contains most problems I've seen or can think about. For easier reading, I put in red the attack scenario and in green the good practices you should use/see. 1) Token randomness A secret must be random! Else, someone could just predict or guess the token and use it on his/her own profile. Standard random() functions provided by languages are actually not random and may present collisions: you can predict their output (see https://medium.com/@betable/tifu-by-using-math-random-f1c308c4fd9d if you don't trust me). Thus, it is important to use strong random generators like: java.security.secureRandom() for Java random_bytes() or openssl_random_pseudo_bytes() in PHP crypto.randomBytes() for NodeJS secrets.token_bytes() (or secrets.token_hex()) in Python Etc. 2) Your token is actually public! Yes, the token is public: you put it on your public profile as the application needs to read it. A hacker could read it when you update your profile and authenticates at your place before you get the time to do it yourself. If you think that it is too hard to watch all forums accounts for a new posted secret and authenticate before the player, note that there is a RSS feed which gives in real time all profiles changes. How to prevent the attack ? Make sure to bind the token to the third party account. This way, if someone else tries to authenticate with the token, the local account won't match. As a good practice, also send the token in private and not in a public channel. 3) Weak or lack of verification Some applications may forget to actually verify the token (don't laugh, a bug is always possible). So make sure to test it after each code update. Another important point: the forums user feed also contains data from the posts liked or messages posted. If the verification function just looks for the token anywhere in the page, a hacker could create a post with his token in the title and this secret will appear in the feed of whoever likes or answers it. So make sure to only check in profile updates. 4) Validating the wrong profile If the player enters the URL of his profile (on the forum, this is nearly mandatory as there is no easy way to know the profile URL based only on the player name), it is possible to host a webpage on another website with a copy of your profile with modified information about your pledge, title or organizations. Thus, it is important to double-check when validating the token and gathering player information that the URL domain is actually correct! Hint: it should be something like *.dualthegame.com (make sure to test against URLs like "*.dualthegame.com.hacker.com" or "hacker.com/*.dualthegame.com"). 5) Luring someone else to edit his/her own profile This one is a bit tricky. Let me break it down into a detailed scenario: I start authenticating on Achilles' Discord which requests me to put the "123456" token in my forums profile. I don't do it right now and instead setup my own application with authentication. I share my application with Hector who tries to authenticate there. He is requested to put the same "123456" token on his profile. Hector put the token on his profile (and finishes authentication on my application for what matters). I finalize authentication on Achilles' Discord indicating that I'm "Hector". And now, Achilles' Discord thinks that I'm Hector. Tricky. A quick and easy recommendation is to generate a token which is clearly related to your application. So, for example, Achilles' Discord could have generated a token like `Code for authenticating with Achilles' Discord (don't use this code if it was not given to you by the "Achilles' Bot"): 123456`. As Hector is a smart guy, he would probably not put this token for authenticating with an application which is not named "Achilles' Discord". It is not perfect as a player who is not paying attention can blindly copy/paste the code. 6) Quits and bans Last but not least: players may quit an organization, be kicked from ATV or lose their backer title for whatever reasons. Thus, if a third party application records groups and roles only once during authentication, the player rights may become outdated in the future. It is important to regularly check the player organisations, titles and rights and update them accordingly (ideally before any request, but realistically a check every hour or day is ok-ish). I hope this post will help. Feel free to ask questions or repost it anywhere. Regards, Shadow

Since Dual Universe is partially about building, what about giving us a tool to replay our building sessions to make cool timelapses like with the replay mod in MC? Another solution would be to let people use bots that they host themselves and that record from a certain point everything happening in one or more core units the bot has been given the "viewing access" to. This last solution could be also used for security cameras but might be used as an exploit (e.g. seeing through the ground like with an x-ray "hack")

Hello! I am limoriden, the head-counsel member of the the Horizon Institute Of Technological Advancement https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/horizon-institue#tab-description The Horizon Institute Of Technological Advancement Is a group dedicated to the advancement of technology throughout the universe, We try to encourage research in every subject. Research Projects done by the institute are loosely supervised, we monitor the projects to make sure they do not get out of hand, besides that, you are free to do what you like. While Horizon does focus in scientific research, we also require a Security detail/corps to protect assets and scientists within the institute. And then there is the head counsel, Horizon will be controlled by 5 people, a decision can only be reached when the majority have the vote, We will make the dealings, hand out payments, and hire the workers. Research Corps The research corps is the main sector within The Institute, they focus on projects of their own. the only thing is though, when someone finishes a project they must turn it into the Horizon Counsel, they will review it and give the approval for the project. As long as your project isn't hurting people, illegal...ish, or killing people, your project will always be accepted, Security Corps They defend the area were the scientists work, since we will most likely be in a city, we do not need a full on military, the security corpse will defend the lab with the scientists if we become under attack. Security corpse will be payed the same as scientists, price is negotiable. Thank you for reading and considering, and always, Look Towards the Horizon. (This group was inspired by The Institute From Fallout 4)

I'm thinking of a wide variety of specialized and fully upgradable equipment that are easy to set up but require skills to updrade. Depending on the system's complexity, such system can be used to monitor a small ship,or even a large city. They can also be an important asset in the Secret Intelligence Warefare. Set up hidden cameras or microphone bugs on the enemy faction, listen in on their conversations or steal personal passwords. Monitor your small ship or even your large city from the safety of your own personal CCTV security room. Add voice and facial recognition and have the database automatically inform you of potential threats. With the use of a Radio Frequency Infiltraton Device, listen in or highjack on other people's radio frequencies. Set up a sattelite and make your own Gps Triagulation Device (GTD) ,with the right skills you can find anyone, anytime. Use the satelite's bird's eye view to spy on your enemies or just observe your citizens for the glory of Arstotzka! Make use of sensor devices tied to trigger an alarm or possibly clever desinged traps and secuity turrets on your property. The possibilities are endless, imo if they are implemented correctly they can enhance gameplay immensly!

Hey, I'm PurpleAnt. I own the UDF(Universal Defensive Force). The UDF is partnered with the JSDF(Joint Syndicate Defense Force), the JSDF is the military branch of the Cinderfall Syndicate, the 4th biggest organization in the game so far. And we are working to expand our partnerships to other organizations such as SilverLight Ind. But what you might be asking is "What is the UDF?" The UDF is the SWAT of Dual Universe. Unlike branches of big organizations such as the JSDF or the TUSC(Terran Union Strike Command), the UDF ventures across the universe protecting client's ships/constructs and leaves behind claimed territory. The UDF is not an empire, and we do not have and do not take territory for ourselves, though if a client hires us to take territory, then that is what we will do. We will also fight in wars if the pay is high enough. Basically, the UDF is an army-for-hire. We also go on bounty hunts and hunt down known threats if there are no jobs open. Join, and find more info here

Greetings, the game concept is very interesting, nevertheless you should take a lesson from EVE online on the mentality of the players that the developers as authorized. Allow total control players can be a mistake. It suffices a big organization decided to take control of your game to rot it. The purpose is not to restrict certain activities, but to monitor any malicious and extremely repetitive behavior. - Controler territories, yes. But being careful that this is not an organization that controls 70% of a universe. - Piracy, Yes. But the fight against the same players of preventing them from harassment to thrive in the universe. - Influencing the economy, yes. But do not allow players to completely controlling the economy. - Specialization in skills, yes. But prevent yourself a hierarchical system timed skills (EVE Online). Because it would allow players to the first time to take much in advance. And players arriving several months later would be late and would suffer heavy losses due to lack of skills. The purpose of a game is to have fun, not to annoy a community and make anti-play. Already we see enough in real life. Sorry for my engligh.
