  1. What drives you to think you got to do everything in the game, and right away? Thats what leads most people to leave games, and far sooner than 6 months. Sure if you end up playing 5+ years you have time to dabble in a little of everything, like people do in eve. But that seems like a you issue.
  2. Oh god no please. At least not if its anything resembling eve. ECM was broken for years, still is. And an over-all terrible experience.
  3. Ya, i mean if things get that bad and the good of the game/economy is at stake yes. My original point was the Devs are trying NOT to wipe, but we also do realize it could be a reality if things get fucked, which they may be or not be I have no idea from my personal point of view.
  4. If thats the case, maybe NQ can wipe only them. And possibly worse sanctions for exploiting issues, instead of finding them, and reporting them. Who knows tho Im not a Dev just going off what ive heard.
  5. They aren't planning on wiping. There are talks of a terrain wipe, but you will be compensated the mats to do a one time free re-deploy of your base. You will keep all your inventory, dynamic cores, talents, quanta, etc. That is there intention anyway, and said would only have to wipe if something crazy happens.
  6. Unfortunately you won't find many fan boi's here. I'm guessing you werent here during Alpha. Even the most diehard people of DU who love it, have been the most critical of it. But compared to other games *cough* scam citizen *cough* its such a low investment on a potential big reward, that we are willing to wait and give NQ some time. A large portion of alpha backers only paid $60. That means by release, they will have played DU probably around 2 full years (with some obvious downtimes during alpha as servers werent up 100%). So sorry, those of us "defending" aren't fanboi's as even we have stated there is a certain expectation NQ has to meet or even we too will abandon the game. Its just for $60 most of us are willing to give NQ at least 6 months of beta to show improvements. Like I said, very little investment for possible big returns. I'm gonna let me money ride and hope things improve. If we are having these same conversations 6 months from now, even I will be playing other games than DU.
  7. I mean, that sucks you dealt with one tool shed. But come on man, I literally here this about every game out there. Person runs into one shitty person and then its "this community is so toxic!". You are literally taking 1 isolated experience, and anecdotal evidence to paint a broad picture of a large group of people. Anyone who has been around for awhile, especially 2+ years during alpha knows the there are tons of people out there willing to help people, and help people learn the game. If anything tensions are just a bit high because a lot of new subs cant get in the game, server crashes, etc because its the first week of beta launch, and server has been hitting more logins then it ever has. The actual reality of it is, there are just shitty people in this world, and even I can be a shitty person at times. Its not isolated to one game, or games in general, or any one thing.
  8. Most likely, but keep in mind, the smaller core you have, the less room, and its hard to make a ship that can "do it all" with smaller build sizes. Like go in atmo, in space, shoot, accelerate fast enough, brake fast enough, etc. So in a sense bigger will always be "Better" in my opinion, but only to a small scale degree. And there is always the factor if the person you are fighting has poor skills or built a poor ship, haha. Which is very good in my opinion. The more variables you throw in for someone to win fights, the better. Not knowing if you are gonna win a pvp fight going in should be the case a decent amount of the time, and randomess leads to more replayability and fun imo.
  9. Yes, there is nothing tying them to a core. But a L gun needs a L radar, and L gunner seat, and takes up more space, and is heavier, etc. So you have freedom, but doesn't mean will be optimal.
  10. I just mean get your skills in queue IF you can, some people can get in game, but run into other problems. Some cant get in at all, and im not dismissing that frustration at all. But we have to go out on a Limb, and say that the devs are trying, and trying hard. There is no other income, at least that I know about, in the short term then subs. Even after release its mainly subs, but maybe some cosmetics. So ya the devs will get paid regardless in the SHORT term, if NQ wants log term prosperity, they gotta get that Sub money, which in turn kind of forces them...to you know....make the game work. Thats all im saying. Its one week into beta, lets give them a little time. I'm not talking years, but 3-6 months seems reasonable to see some viable improvements in performance and other areas. And I really do hope you or those of you havent got in, can get in the game and play soon, because when the servers not too fucky, im having a blast. No other game does it for me so yes i desperately want other people to enjoy it too, because we need people to populate this world and make a cool living, breathing virtual universe to play in.
  11. Agree 100%. And its like, you know the Devs are trying. They literally HAVE to make the game and servers work, or they dont get money. This isn't Scam Citizen, people will just unsub. So its one week into beta, give them a break, and take the free month. I'm not saying absolve them of everything, but lets give NQ a chance. They are only asking for $7 a month, and with that $7 are trying to put EVERYONE in the same universe on as a level playing field as they can. I do understand the frustration, but if it is really bad and you are a new sub to beta, id say just chill for the next month, try to get your skills in queue, and then apply for your free month.
  12. Every planet is riddled with this crap. Now, before I get started, I do think it should be that way on Sanc Moon, and to a decent degree on alioth. But on moons and other planets, maybe scale it way back. Maybe it doesn't cause extra stress on the server, as I wouldn't know, but at the very least they also cause an eye sore on otherwise beautiful looking planets. One thing to also keep in mind, even the super newbies, once they pass a certain point no one surface harvests. If you have the capability to travel to an outer planet, set up industry, build a space ship, etc etc, the last thing you do is Waste valuable gaming time picking up 20L at a time on the surface. So scale them wayyyyyyyyyyy back on other planets.
  13. But from what ive heard, if they do revamp, they will give people with ground constructs a 1 time free magic BP to redeploy. And dynamic constructs wont be wiped, quanta wont be wiped, and talents wont be wiped. So it wont be much of a "wipe" lol.
  14. I guess these days, it depends on who you ask. But Beta is still a point in game development with many bugs, constantly being optimized for better performace, and some new content released. So to me even tho the game has had lots of disconnects, etc, thats par for the course as far as any Beta game has gone.
  15. In a time when people are trying to make orgs, the same thing from eve rings true "the orgs that say they do everything end up good at nothing". Come specialize in making money from salvaging downed craft. The garage man can! Garbage business has proven to always be recession proof. One mans failed and wrecked speeder is another mans payday!
  16. No, you would have access to the server until official release, and then would have to sub your account monthly. Keep in mind that at the current stage of development the servers are not up 100% of the time, and often are offline for days at a time.
  17. My best guess is, $15 for a sub. You can also buy a DAC for $20 from NQ that becomes an ingame tradable item, that when activated gives 30 day game time to that account.
  18. Everything lethys had said here is 100% spot on. It would behoove you to actually listen to him.
  19. I just want to point out, titans are not 16 years old. It was actually a relatively short time frame for titans to be everywhere and accessible to the people that wanted them. Especially in a game that wants people to possibly play for decades, a couple of years is nothing. Balancing something solely on cost is terrible and never works.
  20. Not a good idea. The rights system will take care of things. Too many exploits with security status. And there is no "empire" space. Leaving out bullshit status and letting players decide things thru the rights management is way more emergant gameplay...and that's the way this game was originally pitched.
  21. That seems like a lot of development time spent, when you don't need all that. If an organization needs some Quanta, or ore to get off the ground. Just come talk to me. I give loans at 5 points a week. Way easier than making some complicated system.
  22. I like the possibility of some survival aspects. I also REALLY like the idea of Drugs, with buffs, and DeBuffs for over use. Could really enhance possible gameplay. If you take too much of a drug, when you are not on it, you get negative stats or something to that effect, cause you became addicted to it. So there would be a balance with it, and choices on when to use, or not to use.
