Why?  Either you lose the ship or you get dumped in PvP space and your location is broadcast.  If you don't want to PvP you just force respawn and lose the ship, which is what would have happened anyway.  Or if you feel lucky you can try to get back to safety and perhaps save something you would otherwise lose.  Either way the PvP groups can go to the location and fight each other for the ship or just because they saw each other in space and wanted to shoot somebody.  Seems like everybody wins.

I mean, some people are suggesting you should get to keep the ship anyway after losing at PvE, but if they're that risk averse why are they playing a combat game at all?  Where's the fun in not risking anything?  Perhaps the lower tiers could have small rewards and be for the cowards while anyone willing to risk their ship gets to do higher tiers and get better rewards?

You call people cowards at the same time saying you want the ability to run out and attack a broken and defenseless ship

  2. --------{ We’re changing the tracking formula that runs hit or miss calculations, especially the impact of ship cross-sections on the formula. We expect this to shift the meta away from lighter ships with small cross-sections by removing the protection they currently enjoy from the low probability of being hit by medium and large guns. } ------------

Not sure I agree with this, I think a better solution would be to tie the targeting between the size of the gun and the size of the cross section of the ship it is targeting. A large ship is not going to use its largest guns against a smaller ship. They would have point defense batteries with smaller guns or specialized ammo to defend against smaller ships ( fighters )

I think it would be better to add more flavor to the combat than to just dumb down the targeting. Give fighters limited special weapons or ammo to attack larger ships. Give larger ships Special weapons and or ammo to defend against the smaller targets. Its always the simpler solution ( IMO ) to to want to nerf something that may seem overpowered, but if you really want to add diversity and flavor to a game, Instead of weakening something, give the other things defenses or abilities to counter the overpowered abilities. This pushes players to Improve and adds more strategy to the playing field.

If you are not willing to participate in PVP, then:

    Do

    Not

    Enter

    The

    Zone

    Simple as that.

I like this, you are absolutely right. But by the same token. If you are flagged as a known pirate maybe you should be banned from the safe zones and markets. If you wish to be a marauder and pirate you should have to live like one. There should be consequences/risks for your piracy the same way you say there should be consequences/risks for entering a PVP zone. I would even take it a step further and say that as known pirate you should be K.O.S. ANYWHERE even in the safe zones. Lets be real. Pirates werent rolling into Boston Harbor or pulling up at the pier in London to run into the bar have an ale or two.

I keep hearing PVPers use the word "challenge" then when I see them in the PVP zones they are either  firing on a ship that gives them ZERO profit for the cost they are accruing, or they are ganging up 10 to 1 on another ship.  Then they talk about risk versus reward. They spend 10s of millions of quanta in ammo and repairs to take a ship that sold as a token for 1 million quanta. Be honest at least. It's not about risk versus reward, Its about stroking a pathetic ego in most cases. Or pounding on their chest on Twitch and Youtube.

PVP should have serious consequences too.

  4. The only realistic way to make XS and S core ships viable for PVP  is to give them specialized weapons. IE: Torpedoes and Bombs. They should have to carry them as a heavy payload. They should be limited to small numbers of ammunition. This does 2 things. It gives the smaller core ships SOME value in PVP Combat. It forces larger core ships to equip some smaller weapons more capable of hitting the smaller ships.

Not every person interested in PVP wants a battleship.
