  1. I do not think PVP was "tagged on" in that it is an afterthought. I do think NQ could have done a better job of accommodating for PVP in the core code in advance which seems to not really be the case. The biggest issue here I see is that NQ never clearly set correct expectations for combat and instead basically tried to create an image for it which borders on what they could ever achieve while as closely as possible links in with expectatiosn from the community. NQ shoudl have been much more direct and clear about the role combat plays in the game, which is not the role many seem to want/expect at all. That, after 7 years of development, the other pillars for the game have pretty much all underdelivered, have been reduced in functionality for cost reasons or are still entirely absent does not help in this matter either .
  2. The problem is that NQ has changed the game in such a way that you are basically forced to bring out the calculator or a spreadsheet to see how much you need to make to pay your taxes and see what's left after tthat to do anything else. And so far, it seems most will just need to go back and make more money to get ready for the next tax bill.
  3. LOL.. surface ore is certainly expected to "respawn" .. that was the whole point of it, make mining "more accessible" /s
  4. Well said @Xennial Many of us get this, some don't NQ seems to be one of the same unfortunately as they keep making it harder and harder for new players to get a foothold in the game. Currently, unless new players get a massive amount of help from existing players or orgs, they are simply stuck for a few months before they really get anywhere. They have to invest millions upon millions of quanta to even stay alive, never mind progress. And NQ seems to deliberately design the game this way which simply baffles me.
  5. This imay be one of those long standing bugs.. try using the smooth tool on the ground and the surface harvestables may pop in..
  6. I'm still amazed the talent queue is actually not a simple list using style formatting but what appears to be a row of buttons.. I mean, how do you not make a simple thing sluggish and inflexible. Ever noticed how you do not actually insert a talent between to others, you wither place it below one or above the one underneath it..
  7. I do not agree that an empty single voxel high XS core square dynamic construct righ on top of the market is OK.. You may think it is, but from my perspective it is both an unnneeded risk and somthing NQ should actively discourage. Anything that does not move on a market tile for 24 hours should be impounded and available to collect from the Aphelia Impound Office at the ARK ship for a fee which increases over time and will get higher the more frequent you have to come collect your ship there. Simple solution using allready available in game systems, keeps things clean and would be cheap in dev cost especially when you consider the impact it would have.
  8. look slik ethe latest in a series of uninformed attempts to keep markets clean is working well still /s
  9. Well, you could have just shared that info, there really is no need for the rest here. Besides that though, I'm not throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks, my only unknown was whether you have to pay the 1M tax right away. And it really does not changes that much actually, the only difference is you are out of a TU for a week and 500K Quanta just to find out if a tile is worth the effort. Without investing the upfront amount of several millions for a scanner and a ship capable of flying it around, you will easily spend many millions before you find a tile that is worth mining on. and have TU scattered all over the place as you can only pick them back uip after a week. My original point IMO remains valid, this is something NQ has entirely overlooked in their design and it especially affects new players who get stuck in a loop trying to find a way to make money instead of growing into the game, enjoying themselves and finding it worth their money to resub. Woudl be interesting to hear from @NQ-Deckard on this..
  10. That is becaue NQ is not working to make the game fun anymore. They are doing what they can to keep the lights on. They worked themselves into the situation they are in becasue they never had an actual plan and never tried to change course unless they allready smashesd into the wall, even when many of us kept signallingthem of the waall they were about to hit. After al lthese years, they still seem to think they can build their sandbox and tens of thousands of players wil lmagincally show up and start building content for them. They still keep making the same mistakes and the same bugs keep showing up.. Several small but annoying issues, especially in the UI/UX have been around for many, many months, shoudl be easy enough to fix but are ignored. Case in point.. they once again broke entering Lua parameters in Demeter.
  11. Where is this 1,050,000 free quanta per week coming from on top of the 150K login bonus? I'm sorry, but you seem to be missing a few "details" a HQ tile is not free, is costs the exact same amount compared to a regular tile to obtain and operate. the ONLY difference is that is you do not pay taxes you do not lose ownershipo, but the tile still goes inactive. 5 HQ tiles still cost you 5 million a week to keep running I did see prices for T scanners has come down again, but you still need to spend about 4 million upfront and have 1.5 million at hand if you want to make sure a tile you claim is worth the effort to claim. BTW.. From the parts list you posted, it seems your idea of what is needed to move around a scanner is a tad overengineerd..
  12. Taxing will not work there; it will just be an expense for some in order to take up space and advertise their stuff. After the last set of big words from NQ about keeping markets clean and limiting what could be parked where, that has long since fallen by the wayside (which was entirely expected and predicted) as NQ does not have the resources to enforce a manual system. It's beyond ridiculous they have yet to take their responsibility serious in this and design a simple system where anything parked for more than 24 hours gets impounded and can be collected for a running fee from the ARK ship location where you can pull your construct from impound as a magic blueprint. They have ALL the systems to do this but simple choose to not do it because they really do not care for it...
  13. Actually, it's a 3.5M hole to fill as you wil need to pay at least three weeks of taxes before you even have a chance to claim the construct(s). and you have a good chance the original owner may show up last second and you will be out of that money
  14. You are not getting the point In order to bring a scanner you must bring a ship as you can't carry one around in your inventory. So for a new player, they really have no chance to ensure they start spending millions on securing a tile that is worth the money unless they invest a _lot_ of money upfront. A territory scanner A ship able to transport it A Territory Unit a XS static core at least somevoxel material 5 basic L mining units 1.5M Quanta to secure a tile and pay first week of taxes That's probbaly a good 12-14 million at least before you ever even make a cent EDIT: more like 4-5 million currently.. does not really change the point though
  15. Once more.. there is no promise of a "no wipe". Why do people keep trying to bring that up while it's something that never happened and is not a thing. In all the public statements and conversations NQ has had, expecially since JC was kicked out, they have very clearly left the possibility of a wipe on the table. And JC never, ever said there would not be a further wipe followingthe one a week before bett started. I am convinced NQ already has made the call and from what Sesch said in Discord will make the statement in January.
  16. Of course you do.. Territory scanner does not fit in your pocket. It also needs at least a M container to store as far as I recall
  17. I woudl think, removing a running Mining unit would have been tested no? Then again, how did NQ not prevent an active mining unit from being removed, much like you can't remove a tank which has fuel in it.. I'd agree this is a massive QA fail
  18. I get what you are saying @Atmosph3rik when you say they made these primises to sell subs. I do not think so though. I think NQ, or better JC, was naive and blind enough to actually believe they woudl be able to keep such promises and just fix whatever cam etheir way. As those of us who were there at the first day of play after they wiped the game, it took less then a day for several groups to amass a serious amount of gear and money well beyond what woudl justify an immediate second wipe and fix of the cause of the exploits. NQ allowed this to continue for another couple of days and then pretty much made their fist major mistake by not wiping again and instead covering things up. And we were talking 3 days after the post wipe game running the initial "beta" patch where several groups were already warping around, mass scanning and claiming tiles. The official beta launch had not even happened yet.
  19. A territory scanner by itself is pretty pointless, you can't carry it in inventory and need a decent ship to fly it around. That said, it would not be beyond the way NQ reasons to just make the scanner fit or "introduce a portable sscanner" to not resolve the issue they create, but sweep it under the rug with the rest of them..
  20. Many of us are certain NQ has plans to accomodate for that which do not require a new Sanctuary moon for new players coming in at launch.
  21. Established players will generally not have this problem. New players will be hit escessively by this. And NQ needs new player,, lots of them ..
  22. Without a territory scanner it is impossible to know if a tile is worth investing in and paying 1.5 million to find out is really the only option if you do not (yet) fly around with one. Mining requires a static construct, which in turn requires a claimed tile. To claim a tile and start mining you need to pay 1.5 million. Money which you may find is a waste as the tile does not have the resources to pay for taxes. Unless I am mistakes, a new tile must have it's cost of 500K and the taxes for the week at 1M quanta paid in advance before you can even place a mining unit. So add a ship capable of carrying a territory scanner to the list of prerequisites to find a tile worth paying for..
  23. The initial statements by NQ which had this part, were based on the need for a wipe for technical reasons only, very quiclythough, and consistently over the past 18 or so months, NQ found that a lot of the damage is caused by exploits and mistakes they choose to ignore and/or let players get away with. The last time we heard that (from JC) was a little over a year ago. Inthe end, this is NQ's call to make and as far as I understand Sesch did say they plan on making this statement next month, I could see that being as part of the 2022 roadmap which wi also think will have arelease timeframe fo rnext year. We'l need to wait and see
