  1. I do not wat to speculate too much but I am pretty sure there is some more surprises coming..
  2. I'd like to tell this person to get a life..
  3. This is a fair point to a level. There was always going to be upkeep and as it stands, NQ just choose the easiest way out for them and decided to do it now for some reason instead of working out a mechanic like power management and use that to solve this in a more gameplay focussed way later.
  4. No one ever said that. There is no guarantee you will not need to start over, with blueprints of your constructs and possibly talentpoints returned to the TP pool. That is the "Not lose your stuff" thath JC has always talked about and as he is now gone, NQ woud really not have an obligation to honor that, even if I expect they will when they wipe, which they will at least once sometime between now and release I am sure. Frankly, Demeter was possibly their best opportunity so far to wipe. At the same time I am fairly sure they will have some more Demeter sized surprises for us over the course of the next year. pretty much, yes.. and this is where goldsellers will come in..
  5. NQ, history and it's almost a given that Demeter will come either tomorrow or next week Thursday (which is the day NQ has so far patched pretty much always)
  6. Keep an eye out for an announcement of extended maintenance for tomorrow. If it comes later today. I'd say it is likely NQ will roll out Demeter tomorrow.. I would not be surprised if they do..
  7. Try the transscript I provided here and check your facts @Saedow .. Many are crying becasue they full well understood the loophole NQ was creating by not removing scans and started preparing for this by scanning as much as they could. While the existing distribution and volumes would no longer be valid, they would have an instant/remote view of the availability and volume of the actual ore in the tile without even going there. You could have been scanning tiles which are currently occupied and if they turn out to be valuable, wait it out to see if the owner does not pay their taxes. The level of possible exploits in leaving the scans in the game is insane and NQ really had no choice but to remove them. They intially did not realize this it seems but now do, so they made the correct call and changed their minds. Fair enough, throughout this their communication was terrible but they always said current ore distribution would change.
  8. NQ started work on the sever tech end of 2014, so overall the game is in development for 7 years now. For a game this scale 7 years is really not long at all, it is entirely normal for a game this scale to still be Alpha. Alpha really is the biggest chunk of development, beta would be relatively short, maybe a year at most. And 10 years development time for a game like this to get to release is really not out of the ordinary and never has been. So if we're going to year 8 now, another year of Alpha and then beta for release end of 2023 would be perfectly normal.. Provided you as a devloper have the funding to follow that path.
  9. You do realize that from your perspective the scans would be useless post Demeter anyway right? You do realize that his was announced as such weeka ago right? You did watch the VLOG where NQ explained that ore distribution will change and what you see now wil no longer be there right? You do understand that many now crying over this actually have other reasons to do so right? Right?
  10. This, very much. It's something NQ does not yet seem to realize. also, the new mechnic is not just passive income, it is fairly easy to script and automate to the point where all you do is jump in a ship once a week and drop/dump ore on the markets. High volume passive ore generation sold at cut throat prices will still yield a good bit of quanta which can then be sold through RMT for well beyond the cost of the account and using free GFN accounts so not even needing to invest in expensive hardware to run the game. This mechanic wil be end up being much much like EVE SP farms EZ money.. Goldsellers Assemble..
  11. Certainly, it would be good for NQ if they could. In Alpha staghe they have way more leeway to make changes and experiment. Obviously, they are doing that anyway but with the game labelled as "Beta" while it really is knee deep in Alpha still, they are pretty much painting themselves in a corner and setting entirely incorrect expectations. It would take guts and a thick skin to do it and I do not think that NQ feels they can, even when they might want to. Personally, I'd go further and close the game down again, allowing those who have access to continue playing but putting a stop to selling subscriptions. That would be massively better, would not require a new NDA as that ship certainly sailed by now and would allow them to be far more drastic and aggressive in their development. But I do not think NQ has the resources to go that route and it may jeopardize the relationship with the investors, no matter how much better it would be for them as far as developing the game and actually do it faster.
  12. The comments about being screwed whatever they do were in relation to a wipe, not regarding scans. so no, those comments do not have any relevance here. you can't pick and choose what was said out of context to suit your narrative here. It is very clear that things changed in the internal discussion between VLOG1 (which was actually recorded prior to th Ares release) and VLOG2 and you can't connect the two or try and spin some middle ground from that. This change of heart is, for me at least, a first signal that there may be a shift in attitude within NQ as I mentioned earlier, they seems to have actually picked up on some of the arguments and realized the (potential) problems not removing the scans would have and frankly, by the sheer number of people who apparently started exploiting this loophole, they were clearly right. Yes, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't, but here, because they did, they won points in my book and I hope to see more of this new attitude as I firmly believe that it will be better for the game, and that is exactly what I have always been saying. We're not there yet, but it is a start.
  13. All of this really just exposes that DU is still very much in Alpha, if not pre-Alpha. People crying about compensation is just silly tbh. You (should have) understood this was really an exploit in the making and so started scanning like mad to know where to speed run and claim territory on launch of the patch and take advantage. You probably even scanned claimed tiles because you might just be able to stake out the claim and pick it up as it seems abandoned. NQ finally listened for once, realized there is an issue here and showed they do have a spine as they corrected course. They did the right thing for the game; you took a chance on what you should have known was not a good thing for the game and an exploit and so you lost out. Tough luck.
  14. If that is the argument then I would certainly say that removing the scans was the correct call by NQ. I could see some not being happy with them eventually coming to their senses but that is the case. The mechanic has changed drastically, previous results are no longer valid and having access to what pretty much is a new start woudl at least be uinfair and IMO really be an exploit. The context of the part of the VLOG in the transcript should really expose that as such and the fact that a good many went out to take advantage of this in advance should in itself be a clear sign of it being an exploit and finally a move by NQ which shows some spine in protecting the integrity of the game. That people qho took advantage of this are upset with the eventual outcome I can understand but I do not agree that this is either justified or shows a sense of realism in what's good for the game. Now, if we could see NQ stay on this path and make more of thise correct decisions, there may be a chance of this game getting somewhere yet.
  15. How's your French these days? Sorry, but I could not resist.. Hope you are doing good .. In all fairness to some of the old guard who since have left and not been seen for a very long time, they saw this coming for a very long time. They were not wrong and they were frequently berated by NQ and laughed at by a number of Alpha backers who now seem to come to this very realisation even when it's not being said out loud..
  16. What this implies is that values on the scan you make now wil be irrelevant once Demeter arrives. Now, If current scans magically show the new L/H values after demeter without a rescan, besides being a very bad thing and if so, in itself a prime reason to remove the scans as it would IMO be an exploit. As I said, the wording NQ uses is really terrible and they really are not clean and clear in their messaging as per the usual, that much I would never dispute. But regardless of this, the eventual decision to remove pre-Demeter scans when it arrives is sensible and correct.
  17. I've been rather amazed by the outrage over the fact NQ correctly decided to remove scans with Demeter. It means that many actually have not been paying attention and have been scanning like madmen and women for no reason at all as the scans you make now would not have any value with Demeter to start off with. I can see how this, in part was caused by the overall very bad communication by NQ, no surprise there, and the lack of clarity in the now release BLOG post (again no surprise). HERE is the important bit of the LATEST VLOG, anything before that is really irrelevant. It quite clearly shows Deckard explaining that existing scans HAVE NO VALUE IN DEMETER, in fact both him and Sesch very directly hint as a new seed for ore with Demeter and so previous scans become inaccurate at best and as presented they become obsolete.. Removing them is the correct decision for once, the delivery and explanation of that decision is the usual disaster.
  18. True, had NQ come out with: "From the beta launch we feel it was our mistake to set pricing as low as we did, while based on the stat eof the game currently asking the generally going price of around $15/months for MMO subscriptions woudl not be fair as we continure to develop the game. Thus we believe a monthly fee of $9.99, chich you can reduce by subscribing for more time in advance is fair and represents the correct value fo rthe game. As we woudl ike to keep our initial price promise during beta at least, existing subscribers wil keep paying the same price as long as they continue to subscribe at their current tier." I would have said fair, correct and sensible. Would also keep the door open for a $15 subscriptions price at launch. For me there is no need to pay a cent for 4+ years or so after release and still, would like to know how NQ will compensate the now 30% devaluation of my backer packs. But it's a start.
  19. How? Becasue a large org has more poeple? Following the last VLOG, pre-Demeter scans really have no value anyway so wiping the scans is the right thing to do for once and as I understand it (I no longer visit Discord), NQ wanted to keep them, then changed their minds and I can only applaud them for it. Next I hope they will decide to actually make up their minds on a game wipe overall and their policy on this. If they were to mak ethe right choice there too who knows, I may just come back in and start over with my blueprints as Talent point back in the pool.. I'd be absolutely fine with it and so wil many others.
  20. If the same driver is used across all hardware for GFN then sure, but do not get access to this hardware unless you pay the top tier, so in that respect, nothing has changes for the free and $9.99 tiers and DU shoudl run fine there.
  21. It's likely that XSolla is the cause of this as they may well do the conversion an dpay NQ in one currency.. There is ways to pay sub outside of XSolla.. in USD through Markeedragon's store, so go there and buy gamecodes from him
  22. As you referenced, NQ actually discussed this on the latest VLOG where it was specifically mentioned that T4-T5 ore was moving more to the outer planets and woudl be more sparse. While true nothing specific was said on T1-T3 ores, I highly doubt NQ will nerf availablity of T2-T3 in the safezone. The point is that even IF T3 ores are harder to find, once they are a supply will be availbale indefinite and with the arrival of HQ tiles, such a stock woudl be available to mine only when needed on a week to week basis with taxes paid only when mining is planned and no risk of losing the tile claim otherwise. And t4/T5 ores really do not play much of a part in the game outside of the look of some voxel materials if you for amoment exclude PVP from the argument And just so this does not get misunderstood, I am not saying PVP is not important or irrelevant here.. I'm saying that for a relative large group of remaining players, it's less of a focus so for them , the need to even consider leaving the safe zone is pretty much removed as is the need to go look for asteroids.
  23. I have certainly connected with a number of people through DU who I still communicate with, some frequently, now that I pretty much left the game for the time being. Funny enough, all people I brought in to DU from other communities, quite a few from EVE, I pretty much lost contact with.
  24. "Can I haz your stuff" is pretty much a standard meme seen across most MMO style games when someone posts about leaving the game. Should really not be taken too seriously..
