Kuritho reacted to Gerald_Deemer in Mineing to create underground cities
Underground building, terraforming, underwater building, big size mining.
All these ideas would be impressive to see and a lot more awesome to do in game. But I think even the best modern sandbox game has it´s technical limits.
I mean everyone could see what happens when the project becomes too ambitious (Star Citizen)
The costs are exploding and the players have to wait for decades for the final product.
I don´t know much about the occupied voxel system which will be used by Novaquark but I hope it can meet all the high expectaions.
No need to mention the last mmo which could not do so... (Everquest next)

"Pa, is that a shooting star?"
"No son, a moron tried to enter the atmosphere at a 90 degrees angle."

I'd actually opt for the BigBangBatteries. (BBB)
They have twice the power at a fraction of the cost.

If that is the case good sir, I know what kind of robot I'll be making. The kind of one yelling "EXTERMINATE, EXTERRRRMINAAAATE!"{ xD

Kuritho reacted to CosmicDragon in Magrathean Society (Planet Building)
To step it up a bit, the no build limits has me thinking of planet building. Now I know that the way that the Magrathean's did it was pulling matter though white holes, and I have seen nothing so far on spacial anomalies, (and for this to be a thing you will probably need the ability to create them) so this is way out there. But limitless should mean limitless, although it depends on how the core and internals of the planet are going to be handled, and the way the movie depicts it at least it is a bit ridiculous (I don't remember how it was described in the book). But the logistics and raw scale of the ships involved is fun to think about. Of course it doesn't have to be an industry, it could like a throne of sorts for a mighty ruler of an alliance of organizations. Just a very out in the almost complete emptiness of space idea.
I should also point out, Magrathean's are from the book Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and they build planets.

I could just imagine it. Making people pay rent for a private lodge...

Kuritho got a reaction from Wilbobaggins in Indigenous Populations
Id love to see an infestation type enemy that slowly grows (Warframe's Infested, The Flood from Halo) and takes over player made buildings that are either overrun or abandoned. I'd love to see a colony desperately fighting to defend itself from waves of organic enemies.
Would be fun to cleanse a completely overrun planet as well.

We could look at Stargates more as wormhole generators, and if they ran out of power, the wormholes could continue to exist for a period of time before shrinking and eventually closing. Kind of how it would look if this funnel got pinched off:

Kuritho reacted to Calitar in Indigenous Populations
Forgive me if this has been suggested already. I scanned the idea forum and no title jumped out at me as a duplicate.
I think it would be awesome that as we, the players, are discovering planets we can run into indigenous populations with varying intelligence/tech levels. This would add for an interesting wrinkle where you as the discovering player have to decide if you are going to ignore, trade, conquer, or any combination therein with the population you find.
Do you decide to trade them higher tech than they have and give them spaceflight? Do you decide they are sitting on something really shiny that you want and it's best to kill them off to get it? Do you decide to place a protection on them and guarantee no one else can come along and harm them? The scenarios are nearly endless.
I think this could also introduce the concept of computer generated quests. I know that PvP is a large part of this game, and I also know how much I dislike the general MMO idea of quest hubs, but I think that if done correctly this could be another aspect of gameplay that players could enjoy. I envision quests to be more along the lines of Civ V city-state requests, i.e. "destroy the neighboring tribe", "establish a trade route", "give us your technology". The decisions that are made about what requests to do for what price would allow for different sectors of the galaxy to have more variation and diversity.
This could also be a mechanism for NQ to distribute new "alien technology" or other features in a more seamless feeling so that it doesn't seem like a new technology or feature suddenly appears. It also allows for some developer oversight or control over an area to help guide the game in a healthy direction if it suddenly starts going off the rails by driving how aggressive in pursuing their objectives the indigenous population is.

Something living on the planets beyond the odd deer would be nice, on top of all the natural threats.
I'm thinking:
Some kind of man eating bug like infestation common on a few planets (think a scaled back starship troopers) Some ancient drones protecting those alien ruins the devs mentioned Booby-trapped wrecks from battles gone by -

Then, people who want to mine could have hire factions to protect them, of course for a price.
