  1. No problem, This is an idea topic, so feel free to post. Some of the other posters disagree on a more friendly scale then others. Some also already think they know all and own the place so dont worry and post all ideas. even the in your eyes stupid ones.  And feel free to disagree with everyone, freedom isnt free, politeness and friendliness is.

  2. You got the idea, indeed in DU we need to let go our definition of things, think above what we see. A sub is nothing more than a space ship under water and a car or hover have the same idea, land transport. So its not the name but the idea that counts and only border is the lack of creativity or rules of NQ.

    Probably any name and share register will be prohibited by NQ as this is normally prohibited in any MMO so probably the accountability should be something creative, but im interested in this, i tend to block any poisenous person in a game, so if there is gone be a list i will surely use it. And then the accountability part will be that those players will be on alot of block lists and trade etc will be probably harder for them.

    Well in this i'm just going browncoat, once a browncoat always one but i do like the thought you put into this! and it will make my game also more interesting as i then have something to rebel against or use in my own interest, anything for the browncoat Cause.

  7. So with that posted, some feedback:

     

    If you want this to work, find a way to deal with trolls and ego.

    And with the people who really dont want any dealings with this stuff during their playtime like me but are not going to actively sabotage it aslong as you leave them be.

     

    One method is make another org, but well thats just what you dont want, the other way is to just pronounce "rules"and hope people follow them and forget about the police force.

    But in the end, if anyone wants to mine a big hole right under your base in unprotected territory, they can.

     

    so figure out how to deal with that and you have a plan :)

    And to be clear, i hereby declare myself neutral and independent of any form of general centralized government that will be imposed in DU and will see any form of involvement of this "government" in my actions as an act of violence and will act accordant.

  9. I vote anarchy. No reason provided, because....anarchy doesnt need a reason, just all be free, rules? Where we are going we dont need rules.

     

    Organizations, thats something different. When you enter those, they have rules and you should follow those rules, but outside the organization? No rules unless there are rules in the org that state behaviour outside the org.

    You have a point, i somehow had the idea this was base or ship bound and not something you can launch.

    Indeed, It could be sort of Specific EMP pulse kinda thingy, not real emp as that doesnt specify what to take out, but a more syfy solution of a pulse  lets call it FIP, Frequenty inhibitor Pulse that only allows electronics of people given rights to be active. Giving it a certain tech also includes the possibility to hack it, here the frequency used in the pulse could be hacked to match yours

  12. Frankly i rather have something like satellites then, or deep space probes with a special UI tab so you can open the report page or something. That way people on the planet also have the possibility to take out that satellite if its not so defended.

     

    So as alternative suggestion i would propose satellites destroy-able with a ui interface

Probably any city build will resemble the starwars idea, small blobs around a trading and mercenary post resembling a bar where you can post work/bounties with a big slab to land and some safety towers and alot of debris of failed landings. But nothing wrong with that, it needs to start somewhere. We must not focus on what will be build in the first month, think about what will still be there after a year and that shows what will be effective in DU so any presumptions now are useless. 

    Probably the city we will see first will have no incentive but only lets see what we can really build here. And that depends on the ease of building and gathering. If concrete is easely made with some basic mining, and simple doors and windows too then we will see large concrete buildings with landing slaps on them or something. But if the requirements are to high only small borgcube like pvpdefence hubs will spawn so atleast you can keep your stuff somewhat safe without grinding for basic materials.

     

    So what will the first city look like? We can only tell that after we know more about mining and crafting basics for home building.

  14. Sure your human?  I still think we are all living in a gigantic supercomputermatrix system with daily maintenance for about 4 to 6 hours. But i may be mistaken. But i may be mistaken. But i maymaymaymaymaymaymay.............Rebooth Live2.0 implementing new patch.........be mistaken. There is just something going on that i cant really put a finger on. Welcome in DU!!!!     Sorry to say, But in this internet time, Cities in real life are also Not needed for social interaction, or shopping. Thats also why somany shops are going down right now, well in the netherlands that is, smaller towns already have dead centers and the larger ones follow. So there is no reason for alot of people to build and live in a city in DU or in Real life. Maybe the only reason is: I have to live somewhere And this feels safe? That would mean that in the end safety is the best incentive. But the other points you name are good points! I just was looking how to add more things that a city might hold if it was done properly.

    With us saying No we dont need this or that anyone that is thinking about making a city will be discouraged. Lets try to avoid that.

    This, i do not agree with. Any MMO i have played, even with voice chat has a need for social intereaction, people want to show their skins and emotes, and some more things in that field. Simply because being alone on the chat without seeing another avatar can get boring, feels more lonely then when you goof around between more players, and thats where the social factor will be present in any MMO. Build it And they will come. Why else is there already a few topics of people that want to be able to wave in game ;)

    Cheaper compared to? If you mean DAC, Ofc they are more expensive, buying a newspaper or having a subscription on it is also different in pricing, but its normal in any MMO to have a sort of veteran reward, or add friends reward and it would certainly fit with DU And make it interesting to have it, What is wrong with rewarding people who show commitment? Buying a DAC to trade it ingame so someone can play for free isnt commitment, its trade. Having a subscription for a longer term commits you to DU by regular payments. 

    Why would anyone have a problem with free gifts based on commitment?

    exactly that.

    I do think that for the people that take a subscription in stead of DAC a "veteran reward" Would be a nice feature. Nothing overly fancy just a token of appreciation. Maybe every month something small like a health and food pack and on intervals like, 1,3,6,12,18,24, etc something bigger, skins, pet, fireworks, special "stamps/logos" for constructs. Somethingsomething

  19. We can always try to incorporate many. Just not the need to go to the bathroom and stuff, not looking for a Sims in space ;)

     

    But social interaction is possibly a good thing to start, add a pub or club to the city where they really sell food and drinks and that can act as social platform, maybe linked to a discord channel so the people in that bar are all on the same discord channel, stuff like that will help to make the game more fun. I hope crafting involves cosmetics/clothes then there is a possibility too to make a sort of shop for those, and so on. The more is added as craftable, the more will be in a city, An ikea kinda shop for decorative/usable design items. A media shop for electronics, A construct shop for materials and craft components, stuff like that. privat hover shop, privat flyer shop, etc. Why not

  20. ><  Once upon a time there was a forum filled with Trolls. They used to live in a mountain range in sephirox prime but that planet got Nuked by Empy.

    The EMP that followed digitized the trolls that went into slumbernation until the reached a hub and entered a forum.  Many adventures and firewals passed before they could express their live but then it happened on March 27. That was the day The bird got shot.......
