Now that the 30 day peak player count on steam is approaching a number that would round down to zero, are there any plans to delist from Steam or other action(s) that may go unnoticed?

..or should I sing Silent Night? Kinda quiet on the forums.

I seem to recall reading several discussions about fuel burn rate in the Beta and possibly Alpha forums. NQ may or may not have the resources to properly document everything but I'd be willing to bet if they trained their own LLM FAQ-bot it would be even better than standard documentation with a far smaller labor cost to implement.
-
I haven't come across those settings yet. As for the fuel, it would be relatively easy to change the recipes to use Oxygen and/or Hydrogen and be nano-craftable.
-
It would be nice but they've clearly stated they do not want to put myDU on steam. I suspect they don't want to split the money nor support Linux.
-
The containers configuration are similar to other cloud based services. The WSL2 layer on windows is the extra step to run the server locally.
-
The Linux files can be downloaded with commands in the installer documentation.

In theory you could allow him to use your card for the purchase, but the account it is associated with needs to be his.
-
I would hope it gets priority since the same setting will impact myDU. @NQ-Nyota
-
Confirmed, the outpost appears to be the cause of the error. NQ may want to exclude that one or fix the glitch.
-
So the best looking outpost is a glitch trap? I will test on the demo server later. Thanks for the help.
-
In theory we have the ability to do this without NQ being involved, but each server having the ability to adjust scarcity of resources would be problematic.
-
The missing planets are included with the server files but will require some work to make them available. They have previously stated that the myDU client will require authentication through NQ's account service. All other activity can potentially be LAN only.

I finally took the time to scroll back through the Discord channel to see what is being discussed. There will be a wide variety of ways to modify your server the way you want within the Back Office tool. From the sound of it there is not likely to be a category on sites like Nexus Mods, but there will be online communities sharing knowledge. Some of the variations being discussed make it sound like there may be a few groups to figure out how to make PvP work all the way to the planet surface and I know you can disable it entirely if that is your preference. It also sounds relatively simple to clone a planet (as it would be at fresh start) and place as many copies around the solar system as you want. There is also talk of getting a Discord channel specific to myDU questions set up. so it could be worth your time to hop on there for more.

So far it seems most of the complaints about the retail MMO will be open to tuning to the private server owner's taste. Will myDU be an MMO, technically speaking? Judging by forum activity alone there seems to be a renewed interest tempered with a healthy(ish) side of skepticism. I haven't given up hope that a Linux Proton client might be able to get a functional experience from myDU that currently does not work in the centralized Demo server (not paying a sub to test Live). After a few hours testing various game play aspects the engine did not seem to have any obvious errors other than dynamic constructs being completely absent.
-
/facepalm Yeah, it appears to be a Linux issue. I turned on auto-sprint and put a weight on the space bar (only 4 manual interventions from the N pole to Mkt 6). No dynamic constructs in sight, so I headed over to the shuttle but it wasn't there either. I hopped through a few teleporters, but still no shuttles. I did a quick sprint through the Institute and I could see all of the individual elements. Then I ran through a UEF store and even inside of there I could not see any dynamic constructs at all (even on minimap there were no dynamics). With the exception of a newer GPU this is the same hardware I was playing on before.

To add a bit more detail, upon logging in I get the initial landing cinematics and am frozen in space. I can interact with menus and so-on but when I open the map it instantly sends me to Alioth N pole. If the map defaulted to another location I imagine it would send me there. (Edit: upon opening the map in space my environment switches to Alioth but still stuck until /unstuck is used, error message "invalid or missing parameter") That's DU life. /sigh I'll try getting to my plot on Haven to see if I can trigger the end of the initial landing sequence. (Edit: I don't expect NQ to patch this, it is for the community benefit with myDU)
-
I loaded the demo server to refresh my memory before myDU drops and verify it runs on Linux BUT I got stuck in the initial landing sequence without a drop pod. I couldn't move or force respawn so I used /unstuck. It placed me at Alioth N pole and I ran to Mkt 15 but couldn't access the market with a timer. When I logged back in I am stuck at Alioth N pole. I can't turn or walk again and still an hour before market accessible. It isn't worth running 0.57su to a market with transportation. Or is this a Linux problem?

Since myDU will not be connecting to the MMO server, will it run without anticheat software? I returned to Windows explicitly to play DU but have since reinstalled exclusive Linux. I dare not ask for Linux support, just that myDU will not require anticheat software.
-
DU without single shard is pretty Minecraft. Still better than giving Micro-$oft money though.

Let us know what you think about it once you get the hang of it. Fair warning, there is a steep learning curve with limitless building possibilities. -
I played WoW for many years so the subscription model was and still is not what keeps me away. The steam numbers tell a similar story. The naked treadmill and tiny community (compared to just about any other MMO) hurt DU. I still haven't found any other game (or non-game) that scratches the building itch as well but that alone isn't enough. The factory aspect wasn't my thing but it pushed me to try a few factory building games; DU fell short. As much as I yearn to return I can't with the game lacking active development. I sincerely hope it gets sold to a team that can breathe life back into the dream.
-
I'm wondering if there was a Discord announcement or something I missed? Steam connections earlier were at 2 with a 24 hour peak of 13. Maybe it's too late for the coffee button?

Haven't played since the wipe. How is the game going these days?

There were layers of problems that prevented either feature from working reliably and JC had time enough to address it before his departure. Even with significant churn at each major update many still had worsening performance and/or enjoyment with each iteration. The reduction in dev manpower became plainly obvious shortly after launch. So no, just adding those features would not have "saved" DU.
