  1. devblog says p2p with 2 to 4 week free trial. blog goes into why they chose. im still thinking the monthly will be between 5 and 10
  2. makes me think of my days in WOW. only reason id eat food during raids and dungeons was for the different stat boosts lol
  3. i dont know how viable the import is for probably different reasons that is beyond me honestly. But if NQ had different pre existing elements that you could work with to make a banner and a logo for the suits then it would be very easy to accomplish the same goal
  4. id like to think that the turrets would need more energy and because of a higher energy consumption that they would do more damage. this would also lend to what i said and make the missiles more for hitting a capital ship or cruiser over hitting another fighter. not that you couldnt lock on to another fighter but if they use missiles in the game and they are limited then it make more sense to use on a capital to open it up for boarding. OR! bombers i like bombers too lol
  5. this is true. depending on how the rn works. you are either snatching a body from another parallel universe or your "soul" is being sent to a very very very similar parallel universe. I believe the second is the case. other wise you could just find your spaced body and retrieve your stuff. im not sure on the paradox taking affect with your dead body though. I know there is a doctor who episode that shows what happens when you cross your own timeline which would be basically the same as what would happen if you saved yourself
  6. I think the developers need to walk a fine line of ultra realism and practical. if its not practical to have a food system then they shouldn't have it. but I think it would be a wonderful immersion device but again if its found to be impractical or off putting to to many people then they shouldn't have it. Its similar to the issue of is there going to be gravity in the ships. one could say much like gallo is saying that we are in the future and a lot of issues today are gone at this point. both sides are valid. Im honestly neutral on it.
  7. it is my ongoing belief that there will be a basic nav system. but that we the players will need to script new ai's for more advanced ones. just based on the screenshots we can see some kind of nav system on the small personal vessels as well as what seems to be a large map on the capital ship
  8. it wasn't my intent to come at you in a combative manner, if infact my actions were taken as such I will apologize. I have no desire from putting off a potential fellow ark traveler with perceived negativity of a growing community. I only tried to answer your questions the best I could with logic with what limited knowledge there is currently. your location says France so im wondering if there isn't some language issues between the native English speakers and yourself.
  9. im no scientist but it may not be a stretch to build something for the suit itself. when you sleep you naturally burn less energy. iv gone days in real life of eating only one meal an entire day while sleeping for 12+ hrs. id say that if you are not online for long periods of time have a temporary debuff to skills that goes away after you eat. not instantly but you eat a real meal and over 15 to 30 mins your skills go back to what they should be. maybe for every 24hrs you are offline a random skill is debuffed by like 2 points (if using a point system, im thinking runescape skills sorry lol) and every 2 points of a skill takes 1 mins after eating to regain with a min of 15 and a max of 30 mins.
  10. first I had no idea this thread would take off like this. went to sleep and woke up to 2 full pages lol second I agree that the offline part needs to be addressed. it be a cop out to say you don't need to eat while offline. but id like to think that your cockpit has a built in semi cyro sleep system that puts your body in a sleep state that you burn less energy therefore needing less food. it would also be interesting if not somewhat disgusting to build a component for your suit/ship that recycles liquid waste back into useable water. I think the best way to tackle the food part is to have an automatic delivery system like what was mentioned before. (astronaut food) and then have a minor bonus for cooking food yourself. boost to health or a skill perhaps that last x time depending on cooking skill if that is something that is in game. for all we know this might not be in game edit: I couldn't help but think of the new star wars after posting this and the quarter portions lol
  11. possible lol but im not a fan of star citizen only because it has a lot of negative press surrounding its crowdfunding. but I don't go around trollin it. I just take a wait and see approach.
  12. nyzaltar took care of it lol. but I agree yamamushi. I wont quote the proverb as some may find it offense but I agree lol
  13. id like to see a fps style combat even for craft combat (thinking land space and air) with fighters maybe have it more of a fixed crosshair in front of the ship that you have to line up like in a real fighter plane back in the days of ww1 and ww2 but with some kind of missile system as well that you can lock onto a target and let loose a missile/torpedo. but having ships only have x amount of missiles to fire off while a near unlimited supply of laser burst fire. with capital ships and large cruisers and such id like to see each gun being controlled by a person. or a cluster of guns being controlled by a person that lines up shots unless an auto targeting ai is built for it. but id like to see something other than tab targeting for immersion
  14. on a side note im done feeding the troll and im going to take some advice from an Irish proverb and see myself out from this argument
  15. there is a difference between using an outside blueprint and having it built using the blueprints which we still don't know how those work exactly but I believe that if you build form blueprint that your character basically goes in auto pilot and builds it. if they imported the blueprint and had it build inside the engine then it was constructed ingame. they aren't claiming that its their own original design. and like it was previous stated. this was thrown together at the last minute. no where near time enough to go in and independently make each ship and building with out using some sort of pre existing blueprint or autopiliot build mode edited for typo
  16. completely unrelated but as I am excited for NMS I feel like I need to chime in and say that hello games said that while NMS is an online game they don't say that it is a multiplayer game. its there intent to make it so you don't run into anyone. I suppose its possible with a lot of coordination with another player but it wouldn't be worth while imo. NMS is more of a solo survival game. more space minecraft.
  17. I skimmed through the vid. and honestly the most realistic answer is that they are using blueprints. from my understanding the blueprints allows you to instantly or almost instantly recreate a ship. Honestly all those ships will not be in the end game. NQ has said they will provide a variety of blueprints to start with in the game and that they want players to create new things from their own minds while also improving upon existing blueprints. The point of saying that it was created in game was that the develops started up the game and had the blueprints run and create the ships. doesn't say they are original creations or anything of the like. Simply that they didn't use a rendering program to create them outside the game and then upload the code
  18. My thought was that it will discourage pvping to some degree. but not in a negative way. You would have to plan the logistics of long warfare for a large force or plan and build an agricultural ship that can supply the fleet. Which just adds another target during wars. gotta take out the agriculture ship as well as the one with the RN on it. But I see this as just another reason that people wont aimlessly start wars and such which i think people who are not interested in the pvp side may actually like. My thought on the mechanics on your surroundings is that the suit would house a kind of camel back with water and it depletes at a certain rate at idle and while doing different types of actives it would deplete at a faster rates. The food part im not sure how that would be taken care of. i would assume that you would have to store food in your pack unless its processed into a paste that you drink through a straw in your suit. which honestly doesn't sound great lol edited for a typo i saw
  19. i did see on another thread where they were talking about parasites that ate at the ship. and i had a devious though of capturing and breeding these creatures for the sole purpose of sabotage.
  20. While posting on another thread i realized that im not certain how the game will take into effect that we are humans and that we would need to eat and drink to survive. I think somewhere in another thread or devblog something was mentioned about going out and hunting after we leave the ark ship. But i just wanted to get everyone's opinion on if they believe this should be a mechanic in the game or not. Personally id like to see it as it adds a very intriguing level of immersion into the game. especially for long space flights and wars far from your home system
  21. id rather see wmd like the death star over something like an atomic bomb. far as chemical and biological weapons, i dont see them being viable if we are in space suits. even radiation would have no actual effect on us. if we however need to eat to sustain ourselves or we would starve to death (an interesting mechanic in game) then bio and chem warfare would work in that it destroys our food source on a planet. but id like to see some truly scifi wmds
  22. We have synthesized a bit all the things that were taken into account, but you have here all the main reasons why we are aiming toward a Pay to Play model. In a nutshell, here’s what we have planned: Free Trial period: between 2 and 4 weeks. Monthly subscription (optional with a PLEX-like system) Possible (cosmetic only) Cash Shop. If deployed, we will make it in order that every month, players who have paid a subscription will be able to get some cash shop items for free. stolen from the devblog. this is the current plan set in motion by NQ and i think it will work. 2 to 4 weeks is alot of time in my opinion to test a game out. id like to see the 4 weeks over the 2 weeks, unless the 2 weeks is like a fixed time of play. though 2 weeks of game play unless they consider a day of game play 8hrs is alot of time. however id hate to only pay for game time played for only because im a weird gamer. there are times where i may play a game for 15+ hrs in one sitting or day. to me paying for time only may come out to me paying more money than the 10 to 15 dollars a month. if this game only needs cash floor to run a server with minimal updates the price point should be around 5 dollars a month depending on the estimated player base. if they plan to basically release the game in a late stage beta and go back regularly and tweak it and add stuff they didnt add before the release because of meeting a deadline. id be happy to pay more than 5 to 10. if they plan to add massive updates then ill be happy to pay upwards of 15 (i dont know of any game that is over 15 a month). the money we pay for this game regardless of the source is paying for server maintenance and customer support first and foremost, past that it goes towards i hope improvements to the game ps. i know im in these sub threads alot, and i hope that i offer new information and point of view each time with out sounding like a broken record. i just feel strongly that if a game is to survive it needs to be p2p atleast at first much like a elder scrolls model
