  1. hehe, I am actually working on my end on creating a site (already) for a guild/fleet type community for DU... And I am still on the process of digesting and understanding precisely the way organizations work on DU based on the Dev Blog... Will have to read the one coming tomorrow for more info... But I'm already in the works... hehe.. .hopefully I can post about it soon... But since im going out of topic... I'm interested in hearing your Idea/story about formation of "The Formics" ReadyForTheGame.

That is also reminds me of the game "Tribes: Accend" It uses the same mechanic to quickly cast a recorded voice command to the team: Such as "Capture Point A" - "Protecting Point A" - "Infiltrating Enemy Base" - "Requesting Backup" etc Yeah, that would make a good addition to that thread Astrov... Good Idea there Saffi...

Hehe, that Nano name reminds me pet/creature from STO It is such an ugly thing... ~ Edit: I forgot to mention that purple alien thing is called a "Nanov" hence why the NanoMaid reminded me of it. Maybe someone can start a concept/idea thread on the "Making of pets?" put some chemicals together and walla you have a pet... for the NanoMaid, im digging the line especially the: "Trash like you is lucky to have me, after all, I'm your' only friend.", that just had laughing... I do have one question for the OP... Does the NanoMaid come in easy payments of $99.99/month for 12 months? And If I order one in the next few mins will I get a 2nd one completely free for a friend?
  4. Oh hey... I just posted on the "guild concept" thread, something along the lines... hehe, sorry I think I might've took your idea unintentionally... I like the idea. This allows players to choose the route they want to pursue, good or evil... One the side of being denied "certain" services, maybe adding the options to gain some other services for going evil... I don't know... I do like the idea... That's all I can really say...
  5. Ok I am going to come from 2 ends here, one end will be STO and the other will be SWTOR. But first, I don't believe the concept of guilds, is dying. What I do believe is dying is the "will" to help make a guild "fun and social" In most cases, people just want to join X guild that is Y level so they can receive Z bonuses of the back, with out the effort of being social and/or engaging. I have personally come across this many times while working with my Fleet and Community over in STO... Now, coming from the 2 ends I mentioned... Dual Universe sets a good background for social(ism) - the sense of being social/engaging with other people, one must work together to thrive and succeed in the new world. Now for the mechanics of how this is implemented and the overall resulting in the life of guilds/communities is very important. From one end, limiting people on what they can do in a guild because the owner is F2P, really kills it. (in F2P models) From the other end, allowing people to do what they want and receive bonuses can be better step, but again leads to the problem that I mentioned... Lack of engagements... and an easy way out. If I read Astrophil idea correctly, an "Honor" system does work imo... I think... The more support you give to your guild, the more honor you get more benefits you get. As for solo players, having the same honor type system can be implemented in 2 ways. Via getting Honor from NPC (AI) or doing 'Jobs' for guilds/corps/organizations. I don't know if I explained that correctly or if it makes sense. More thinking will need to be done, that's for sure... hehe But on the topic of is the guild concept dying... I say yes and no... It really all depends on how the guild concept is implemented. If it's implemented correctly, it will lead to players interacting with on another, while not feeling left out if choosing the route to go solo. If implemented wrong, players will look for the quick access door. But then again, aint that real life, we all look for the quick access door, that leads to less work and more profit... Just some quick thoughts on the topic and concept.
  6. This idea does follow the same concept Eve Online took. While it is a good idea, from my personal experience, the avatar displays on the chat... weren't all that, important, for lack of better word... however, something along the lines of displaying the character's look or face when opening a "View Character Stats" would be much better imo. This however doesn't necessarily follow the "in game avatar on chat" but it does follow the same concept. This also draws my attention to "bounties" on players, I'm sure that in Dual Universe will greatly implement this, being able to see a players avatar on the 'Bounty' HUD or Viewscreen of a ship, can add a layer of realism... Anyways, I feel like I'm going off topic... but to cap, avatars on chat box (from my experience in Eve) isn't all that... intriguing. Maybe clicking on the character name and brining that "character stat" window I mentioned earlier. Let's just see how that goes after launch...

  8. hehe, seem like the spambot doesn't want to go away. If I may suggest a couple things to alleviate the problem. (Can't remember if this is on already) Turn on Email Verification - send a code to the email which the user MUST use to log in into the forums (if possible) I've seen a couple of "Guest" profiles. Turn that ability off Have multiple user groups, by this I mean, after the user has verify the email address he/she is moved to a group (human verification group) Add some Q&A verification process (I've seen some forums do this) don't allow users to start new threads until they've reached X days registered, verify email, have X posts or don't allow posting after X amount of days or user has verified email. Block the ability for users to start threads in the "Rules and Announcement" area or block thread starting for users in sections in which NQ staff will only be starting threads. For the current registered spambots. Re-force user email verification If all spambot accounts are using the same IP address, (might not resolve the issue) but block the IP address\ Move all current "Spamming" accounts to a "Quarantine" group that removes posting abilities. Don't delete account as they can be use to find the proper IP address of the spam bot. If the spam accounts are using a same domain email address block that domain Lastly, ban the accounts Might also want to close registration for the time being. Hopefully this can help get rid of the spambot.

  11. This has more to with the forums rather than the game itself. Seeing that most gaming communities have volunteer moderation to keep the community healthy. My question to Nyzaltar is, how is this going to be tackled in the DU forums?
  12. The 2nd question is an interesting one. I am not a programmer m self but it would make sense, at least I think it would, to be able move around with in a planet, using a vehicle of some sort, that was programmed to do so by the player. I think one of the devblogs has mentioned this before, might have been the Alpha blog. But yes, in another post Nyzaltar mentioned that there won't be anything preventing you building a "robotic pony." I'd imagine this is true for other constructions, such as land units...

Actually my original thought of it was 1st directed to "actual" communications between players, but I had a low IQ moment when I didn't realize about 3rd party comms, like Klatu mentioned, And thus, thinking a bit on what Astrov, mentioned... but you elaborated more on this... Comms. Disruption can be used with commands coming from the "commander" to the "drone ships" and thus being interrupted... Thanks Kongu!

Hey Astrov, another idea that could be thrown into that list is the following: Communications Disruptor - a space ship modification, this device allows for a blockage of all voice communications within x kilometers radious of the ship outfitted with it. Or something along those lines. I would imagine it would come in handy in space battles.
  16. This brings to mind a question in regards to multiplayer crew ships. What happens when, let say "left bank weaponry" specialist is not in game? Would such person be replaced with an AI? Or would the ship be with out a critical specialist? This question might've been answered before, just can't find it, hehe. Thanks!

Hello Everyone, Comrademoco here, just wanted to stop-by and introduce myself, give a little background on who I am, maybe about my gaming community/guild and how I came across Dual Universe, might be a long intro... lol sorry! About Me My gaming life started around when I was about 6 or somewhere around there, back when the PS2 was the thing and GTA: San Andreas was the thing as well. From there on, my gaming life grew and grew, until the point where I found myself gaming, not only in my PS2 but in an old Computer. Couple years later I moved into creating my own Personal Gaming Computer, which I've grown to love and care for, and after 3 years of using it, it still works like a charm!!! Now I got into many mmos, under different names and what not. Soon I realized that I needed my own gaming name, and thus, the gaming tag "Comrademoco" came about. Years have passed and I still run about that name. Now I play several, not a lot, but several MMO's like; STO, SWTOR, LoL, War Thunder, EvE Online amongst others, but this also includes single non-mmo games like Civilization and Rome Total War. ~Information no longer relevant ~ My Gaming Community I am a big player of STO, this led me to create a fleet with-in the universe of players like me, who shared the goal of; "Having fun in a safe gaming environment" During the years there, such fleet grew and grew to the point of becoming a large and possibly one of the Primary fleets within STO... however, this did not satisfy the part of the goal "gaming environment" thus leading me to the foundation of "Borg Defiants Gaming" an international gaming community that currently spands between several games, and is currently looking to expand to more games... I currently serve as the Content Manager and Community Manager for all communities under "Borg Defiants Gaming" ~Information no longer relevant ~ Dual Universe I came across Dual Universe, when I was in the mists of getting bored with some of the games I play, at that time it was "STO" that I was playing... I just totally got bored, and decided to look for games that met this criteria: 1. Space 2. TRUE exploration 3. TRUE sandbox/single shard 4. Ability to create own ships With those goals in mind, I set for a course to the never ending land of.... Google.... Hehe and after a few hours, I came across a list of some "Top 10 upcoming space MMOs" I clicked on the link, and I read on the author's ramblings, sorting through the games, non of which appealed to me what so ever, but alas, I came across number 10.... Dual Universe. I read the info on the game, and its drew my attention. (To which this day I don't understand why it was number 10) And so I came to the website. Long story short... I read every... single... blog the devs have put up, and every single area of the website, this.... led me to, as one of my comments in one of the blogs... "Drool" over the game... Overall I look forward to the games development and full launch and hope I can become part of it, via supporting it and playing it!!!
