  1. As long as I can have stealth tech on my pirate/smuggler/bountyhunter spaceship, I am good. I think the idea of having the toon still exist in game when logged out can be a fun one, but a player should also be allowed to rest in a safe haven or neutral zone or something. If the player makes the effort to ensure they log back in with their goods, they should be allowed to keep it. I think in a world of hard core gaming, perma death or losing good when logged out is fine but in todays game environment there has to be a balance to cater to hard core and casuals.

    Aliens?

It's not actually human skin. Its a nanotech synthetic adaptive polymer. It allows for more than one form (not simultaneously) and allows for deep infiltration into the ranks of....ohh dear I have said too much. If you have any weird dreams of abduction or red marks on your arm, ankle, legs or neck after you wake tonight...it was not me.
  3. I don't really have too much of offer in the way of guilds, except that in the past 6 years of wow, SWTOR, GW2 and even now in landmark, the only guilds I belonged to were my guild and most of the time it was just me, max of 3 to 5 people. I like peace and immersion and what I really dislike about guilds is the incessant banter I always see in guild chat. Same reason I stay out of /general or /trade etc. I would almost like to see..tiers of guilds (I may not accurately describe what I see in my head here). What I mean by that is think of society. We belong to a country (large guild), a state or province (large, but smaller guild), a town (still large but much smaller), a family (3-5 person unit). I almost think to some degree your "guild" should happen automatically, for example what planet you take residence on and as it filters smaller and smaller becomes more of a choice. I guess in most MMO's this would be the faction you align with at the start of the game and then what guild you choose based on people you like playing with. I also feel that guilds should be more organic in a way. For example. I make a pirate space ship and recruit 7 players. We would all be a "guild" for that ship or crew...almost like if you are not active within that organization, you are no longer part of it. What I fear is large guilds that really serve no purpose but to glorify the guild leaders or officers, unless that is what the player chooses to do...which could very well be the case in an RP sense. I don't think I am conveying what I am thinking very well. ITs kinda hard to describe. I just don't like when I see a giant guild umbrella, with pockets of banded players inside of it. Also. I feel very very strongly about the RP aspect of guild names (and player names). In World of Warcraft I chose RP servers, not becaues I wanted to RP all day long or really had much interest in it, but because I could not stand names like "Lolkill", "Boogerbutt", "Strangedeath", "DaMan" etc etc. In Wow, you could report bad player names like that and force the player to rename to the RP naming conventions. I know this is labor for a customer service agent, but could be player controlled if flagged by other players with a message asking to please name accordingly. I know this might put some people off, but imo the people put off by not being able to use a stupid name are usually the ones causing trouble anyway. A world where corporations, fleets, armies, merchants, pirates etc have names that adhere to some form of RP element within that universe are generally far more immersive and simply "feel" better or feel more serious which to me has connotations of being legitimate. Crummy names for guilds or players often leaves me feeling like everything around me is a joke. Anyway, kinda went off on a rant. But uhh...I might revisit my ideas here when I am better able to express them.

    Aliens?

FYI...the only thing being subjugated and exploited as labor, will be you humans.
  5. I like this idea, but how does this work with intellectual property? Is (insert favorite artist) going to be ok with us streaming their music in a setting they are unfamiliar with? If there is a potential for DU to get into trouble with allowing the use of others IP, I would say no to this feature. I know radio stations broadcast music, but that is usually allowed by the record company.
  6. Thank you Nyzaltar. It makes sense to me. I would have to see the voxel size in relation to a character to fully appreciate the 25 centimeter size (my calculations show that your size is barely larger than LM). But regardless, as you pointed out, we will get to fly these and that adds a ton of playability vs a spaceship that can't move. The planet size works for me.
  7. Has D.U. come up with an approximate voxel size in relation to characters? For example in Landmark I think voxels are roughly 9.6 inches or 24.384 centimeters. From what I understand there is a direct relation to voxel size and performance. Smaller voxels allow for greater visual fidelity, but decrease performance where as larger voxels decrease performance less but also limit visual fidelity when building.
  8. Thank you for the introduction. I am sure in the days to come we will have suggestions or ideas that may help better flesh out the forums. Right now I think most of us are just excited to see them launch. This is the beginning of great things to come.
  9. Exactly. Landmark is nice, but building something always leaves me feeling empty because it serves no purpose. This is where Dual Universe takes the ball and will make touchdown after touchdown (note: I really have no interest in sports). I can't wait to be a part of this exciting community. I love the art DU is producing and happy to see another sci fi voxel game.
  10. Actually I am interested in Dual Universe, landmark is just there to pass the time.
  11. I found Dual Universe by a retweet of a friend. I am a designer irl and dabble in art, and photography. I currently play another voxel based game in early development and build sci fi exclusively (but there is no movement to the voxel creations). I love to make spaceships and spaceships and then more spaceships. I am extremely excited about a single shard sandbox sci fi game where players can craft and pilot their own ships and or space stations. I look forward to meeting you all in the future.
