  1. The original creator could be protected. We have a chance to build a player run Crime, Law and Punishment system from the ground up. Strangling a simulation from the beginning just limits creativity and puts artificial and immersion breaking limits on Suspended Disbelief.
  2. At least give and explanation why, so that we can have a conversation. A pithy comment does nothing.
  3. But... it should be possible to counterfeit blueprints. I'd want it be skill based and very much frowned on, but possible.
  4. Most of us have passed a ferrari dealership and then looked down at or Kia keys mournfully. So blueprints will be made and sold. What if i buy a blueprint and decide to copy it and undercut the cost? Perhaps use the name, perhaps use lower spec parts? What if I script the ship to ail so it becomes more of a rental thing... ? You want revenge but all you can afford is a brick with a catapult attached? What about renting a Deathstar from me? Naturally any damage would have to be paid for and it will revert to brickiness if you run away (or will ignore you and fly back to my shipyard of unfortunate death? Because imaginary fraud is fun!

  6. Since we will be flying in spaaaace, will joystick functionality be a thing?
  7. Not entirely sure why a failed stretch goal means no con v con combat. From my lofty perch of no coding experience whatsoever, wouldn't weapons just be a modified builder tool with the parameters set to minus? Set the area effect to big and random for bombs and small and focussed for projectiles? All criticism is meant to improve, not destroy.
  8. You should be able to steal things. Otherwise it's a strangled simulation. Naturally, there should be attempts to protect property. Even more naturally, there should be an arms race between property owner (and law bodies) and future property owners of dubious morality..
  9. There will be safe and unsafe zones. I hope there will be some risk/reward system to encourage people to risk 'the dark'.
  10. Perhaps 'stealth skills' will allow you to hide name tags from unfriends (higher levels from even alles?) at will?
  11. Skills should be limited to game skills and not outworld things like 'diplomacy' or 'leadership'. Let politics be a thing of art and genius, not rng rolls or stat comparison.
  12. I like this system You have skills with points you allocate in and skills with no points. The skills with points in are what you are good at to begin with (the 'what role i think i want skills in'). The 0 skills can still be learnt, but the practice time between 0 and 1 is a long one, just like in real life, but then it gets easier until later knowledge. It would be good, also, if skills could be linked to the scripts for the ai so that it doesnt become a two speed game (like space engineers) for coders and technoanderthals.
  13. As long as the increase is natural and ungrindy. "You have chopped 10 000 trees. Trees to chop until level 2 lumberjack: 300 000". Edit: i hope there are no 'Leadership' skills. " You can't run this organization! You don't have 'People Skills' or 'Diplomacy' at level 10, you big jerk!"
  14. I've always thought misdirection is something missing from game design. What do I mean? Most of the time we get information about a ship before we see it in space. I'd like some of that information to be false. This can be for good reasons, such as giving your fat slow trader the transponder of a battleship or for nefarious reasons, such as fake distress calls. Of course, their should be counter technology available. False Flag signalling should be expensive, highly illegal and 'a shoot on sight'. Counter technology should be an expensive, heavy, luxury that is also difficult to get hold of. Otherwise, what's the point?
  15. What you call griefing I may call warfare or piracy. I should, in a sandbox, be able to play the bad guy. Having said that, I would hope that there are safer zones (not entirely safe zones that are narratively dead), but consequences for bad actions just as my piracy should be the consequence of carelessness or greed. In short, a proper sec system like EVE's where over here all bets are off, but over there the police are 'fierce'.
  16. As long as my Pirate Crew from Elite Dangerous, The Code*, can terrorise you for fun and profit, I really don't mind. *Not C.O.D.E from Eve, in Eve we're Pirata Codex.
  17. I understand that in space you can design a ship like a can opener and it will fly. But if you build on planets will it have to be aerodynamic?
