  1. Totally agree, Space Engineers has jump drives and i don't like the fact i can't just fly towards the planet and land... i have to jump...jump...jump... ect.. to get there... I want to fly to it and land on it then fly to the next place....
  2. They aren't pre-mapped, you have to build them and i assume map them yourself.. If you want to explore you will have to do the flying manually at first and maybe still as the game goes on if you can't access a stargate, you will have to get there using FTL/Jump drives.. I think there was something said about the odd one or two stargates being already build, but now thinking that might have been arksites..
  3. To be fair... he's not wrong.
  4. I don't like this, what's stopping me buying your ship instead of stealing it and taking it to a shipyard and copying the design and then selling it on? This would negate all the reason for having a creator tag on it, as you can remove it. I think there should be only 2 systems here: A Master BP that you can keep, change, edit, and spawn infinite creations from forever.. You can trade this, sell it, maybe lose it on death , but this is the master and the only way to spawn a copy BP of the creation. Masters can be put into a build mode where you can change anything about it if you own the BP Then you have copies of the master, this would be a single use item, you use it it disappears, gone forever, but you have 1 exact copy of whatever BP it came from, this would also be up for trade or selling or even stealing, but remains a single use item, you would never own it or be able to alter it in any way, this would be a one off... lose it or have it destroyed and you need to buy another one... Obviously a way to repair them would be nice. Copies would never have the ability to be put into a build mode, preventing the option of stealing the design and making your own BP from it. Anything other than this is think is just over complicating what should be a simple system.
  5. I was just wondering there and decided to post it... Can we attached thrusters to a planet or a asteroid and change it's location potentially taking celestial bodies as a spaceship ? It came to me when i was looking through my steam library and saw planetary annihilation, where you can attach thrusters to moons and asteroids and send them flying into your enemies bases. I know the idea of moving a planet might be to much for the game, but what about the small things like asteroids/comets ect ?.. small moons maybe ?.. In my head i want to think this is possible because 'everything is voxels' and we already know we can apply thrusters to creations we've made, but about other things?..
  6. Nah, Eve is single shard too, but has 'limits' to player amounts on system, so even though it was single shard it still had a form of restriction on players being in the same location. DU you can basically have as many players in one place as you want..
  7. 40 Minutes from system to system... I certainly hope not.. You are forgetting that the universe is supposedly going to be 'infinite'... I hope it takes 5-10mins at full FTL or less to get from system to system, having to much time required to get from place to place would kill alot of the enjoyment of the game for me. I want to be able to explore.. but i don't want to have to fly for 10hours just to get somewhere new.. Infinite universe and you can have 10 planets / systems all right on your door step... Think if this goes to something like NMS size (or very big)... you could spend weeks just getting a little bit across the universe and then if you need to get back too.. (as stargates are supposed to be expensive).. it would be double... I hope the systems are accessible and not require pointless flight time to get anywhere...
  8. Not sure if it's in this post as I'd need to reread it to make sure, but this certainly has something in you might be interested in reading... https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/12/04/from-barter-to-market-economy/ EDIT (Realy can't believe i did this): You know what it is, I'm obviously more tired than i think i am... Someone has already posted this... So just ignore this ><

    jetpacks

What about if the jetpacks just function horrendously when you are planet based or within a atmosphere? It would serve the purpose of having a space jetpack and keep the single purpose use (while still being usable) while on the planet... But you're thinking more of traditional jetpacks, what about a jetpack that has ion-propulsion or some form of thrusters that are only in DU and can work both in and out of the atmosphere?...
  10. I like this idea, but i fear for how long it would last and how it would be policed given that the game could have thousands of people... if even a fraction of them join the same TS it could be very hard to prevent and wrong doing... and you'd always need a active mod/admin to keep the peace. Nice idea, but I'd prefer more resources being put into Voip before an DU TS...
  11. There is a post somewhere that mentions trading stations that can be setup on user lands, I think, and it's supposed to act like a mini-market where you sell of your own items.. not sure if price is fixed or selectable or if you can trade items for items.. But there is a topic somewhere telling about a trade station... I'll see if i can find the post..
  12. I'm going to have to throw up the 'Team Effort' badge on this statement... I would like to think I played a role in it somewhere... however small What would be your thoughts if the music wasn't automatic and optional?... If there was simply a 'play' button that you could click to listen to DU ingame music (or website specific music) while your browsing that requires you to click play everytime you come to the forums... Would that be better?.. wouldn't cause any problems for people who are at work or need to remain quite as it would be down to the user to choose to listen or not....
  13. To be honest, I'd just leave all the threads that are for recruitment where they are scattered around the forums as many may not even return when the games out (maybe) and you can always re-post your thread in the recruitment thread when its live. I just think for how small the group is that's on the forums actively a specific place for recruitment would split the conversations and cause a rift between some of the people here or people to come... I wouldn't want to put a post in someone else's alliance recruitment thread if I didn't have the intention of joining, even if the post was not 100% on topic. it would just feel slightly odd and in turn that's one post down that may have been put elsewhere... since alot of the recruitment so far has been done through normal posts and offers and spawned a whole conversation from them i still think for the time being we should remain as we are, and keep all conversation and topic open and free from restrictions.... Of course when the forums become more popular or it's closer to release and there is enough people to require the separation I'm all for it.. but i think it's too soon....
  14. I'm going to be honest, I read all of that and got lost during it twice. I'm not sure what your point was 100%... Was it that DU should be 1000th the scale of real life ? reducing all the distances and radius by a factor of a thousand or that we should split the initial player base into 1000 groups and deploy them to different planets? I'm not sure what they are doing but one of the questions I've been planning to ask myself is what the shape of the universe will be and the distances they are going to spread everything out by. Because to be honest, i've not read anything yet (or took it in) that states the game will follow realistic solar systems and galaxy layouts, they could have some 'new' shape for their systems. We don't even know if planets will orbit or be stationary (I think, haven't seen it)... If you could maybe give a more direct question I could offer some more constructive feedback... other may not need this, but I'm lost as to what you're asking.

    jetpacks

I certainly hope so.. Otherwise building space stations is going to be a very interesting thing to do indeed...
  16. Don't you mean resurrection nodes... https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/07/06/quantum-immortality/
  17. I'm sure I read something somewhere that describes friendly fire being a core part of massive battles because it adds to the 'counter-balance' of fights where if you have the bigger numbers you also have the bigger chance of destroying your own fleet and what knot... Something about firing shots will 'travel' to the target and can be intercepted by any other ship so this gives friendly fire a possibility... But that's from a old old post or a DevBlog or something so I wouldn't be able to say anything about its current accuracy..
  18. See.. I wasn't looking for anything particular and you've already given a little background story to yourself and cinderfall.. My intentions is still just 'anything' if you think it's interesting that people might not know.. Post more
  19. Hi and welcome .. I'm interested in what your ideas are now, I've seen the SOA you speak of and enjoyed it, and understand the concept of life and death and the emotions they play and how they could play in the game. Note on that though, I don't like losing everything in games when you die, I don't mind losing 'things' but the character and the skills I gained or stats I got i want to keep. Then you pay a price for dieing but don't lose the momentum and character you spent the whole time making.. But yeah, this is your post so I'll not steal it... Welcome, can't wait for your other posts EDIT: Was looking around the DevBlogs again and thought you might like this https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/07/06/quantum-immortality/
  20. Oh I wasn't on about any hidden parts of the forums, just parts that might be from, say, the very first posts that many haven't read all the way through. Unfortunately i'm not one of the Alpha Team Members, so this alpha section that might happen i won't have access too i think, . I'm still reading everything, but i'm quickly running low on supplies....
  21. Mechs I hope that they do, I read something about how you could construct anything, maybe if there is a way to manipulate sections of the voxels with mechanical components like hinges, pistons rotators ect. then maybe we could create these by hand
  22. +1 for that... Background music would Increase the ambient feel of the website but don't put any resources needed for DU into doing it... or make it so that the website suffered because of it... But the actual ingame music for the game to be able to play on the website would be nice
  23. How long would this take me to learn about if I wanted to do it myself?.. I only ask because I have all the access to the website I want and if he doesn't 'feel' like it I could stab at it myself
  24. I'm curious if anyone has any knowledge of DU that everyone else possibly doesn't know about or is hidden deep down in the forums that it's unlikely to surface again. Basically I'm starting to run out of things to read and I'm 'afk' today (on phone)... wouldn't mind having more information in my belt either So anything YOU think is interesting and mostly unknown, throw it in here..
  25. Don't see why you couldn't just post it now anyway?, Don't need a specialised forum place to post that. I'm kind of interested in what it would say now...
