  1. So I am not even allowed to post in your threads now? Sorry but my points are legitimate and I will make them. So how about you just stick to making your points, and I will make mine? Rather than telling me where i can and cant post. Tough for me to "stop following you" when you literally make every forum post, which is the same thing, over and over and over. Mining units have been added to give a semi passive income, you can still do other thing to make more money whilst you earn that income, so your point "My question to you my friends is are you happy to be taxed at nearly 25% - 50% of everything you earn from you gameplay time?" - IS FALSE. AS it is not EVERYTHING you earn, unless you do nothing else to earn money in game. Added to that you only have to pay taxes on tiles if you have more than 5 that you are using for mining or industry. So if you are just building stuff on 5 tiles you dont need to pay ANY taxes anyway. For what it is worth, I actually think the taxes are too high, I would probably half them. Is red underlined your really angry font?
  2. Do you just stand there and watch your auto miners for the whole time you are in game? This is your PASSIVE income (pretty much), you can be earning that whilst you mine roids, or run missions, or sell ship, or salvage abandoned stuff. Your example would be correct if it was the ONLY way to earn quanta in the game but it isnt. Also, if you take that T1 ore and turn it into T1 elements, you make more money. I have NEVER sold a single kl of T1 in the game, ever. ...... Waits some rant that doesnt counter any of my points.
  3. But it is up to you to decide that because I enjoy the game I am a 'white knight'.... get over yourself.
  4. Ahhh so anyone who enjoys the game is a white knight...... ok then. I think I will leave you and your bulging neck veins to it and go watch Money Heist. Life is far too short to be crying over pixels.
  5. You find a SINGLE one of my posts that is 'white knighting hard' just one. Just because I am reasonably happy with the game, does not make me a white knight, just makes me someone who enjoys different stuff to you. Think you need to take a deep breath, you seem to be getting a bit tilted. The only bitter vets I want to discount, are those that havent even played the game in several months and those who make statements as if they are FACT, when actually they are opinions. I have no issue with players disliking DU, there is a lot I dislike about it, I do have an issue with people acting like it is only THEIR gameplay choices that count. If I buy a game, and dont like it I leave, I dont sit in the forum for the next six months trying to ensure the game fails just so I can say "I told you so", that IS NOT directed at you btw, I actually get the feeling to are a pretty hardcore also. To be honest, the bitter vet comment wasnt either. Also, technically as you chose to include zero in the poll (odd choice), there are 3 people who are undecided
  6. Judging by the vote you posted up, not sure everyone agrees with you.
  7. I have been here since it was all fields, was in early alpha, was at the 30k stress test and many other early events. I am also well aware of what development costs, I work in the industry (condescension seems to be a common trait on here). So lets do some maths 25m for the first 6+ years = about 4m running cost per year. Which means that the 4.5m they 'recently acquired' should mean they will be running for at least another 12 months. Taking into account, the initial costs would have been lowered but they have been very open about saving being made in the last 6 months or so and they have been getting some income from subs. In my experience, most independent development companies live hand to mouth, that is the way of the world. The fact the game hasnt been dumped onto Steam for me is a good sign that they are not desperate for money, as that would be the first thing I would do as a cash grab if they were. I totally agree that launch is what will define whether the project lives or dies, they need to get key additional features finished and then send a good few months polishing the game before they let the masses in. Would be interesting to know what level of subs they need to break even.
  8. I went 10, it is actually a 7/8 but I knew all the bitter vets that dont play the game but haunt the forums would drop zeros so thought i would add some balance. Generally happy with the direction of the game, even if I am only playing casually now. Moving this weekend, once that is out of the way, might actually go a bit more hardcore, now I can buy ore again.
  9. So it is a guess then..... you have no actual idea. I have been hearing that NQ were out of money for ages but they seem to keep on going? So not going to pay any heed to further speculation. Also if they did RECENTLY get 4.5m and they had 20m for the first 6 years, basic maths says they should still have some money in the bank. Unless they have had a massive increase in overheads.
  10. Just wondering how you know NQ's financial position. People have been claiming NQ were broke for over 6 months on this forum, when JC left the whole company was going to be sold off according to the sages. Has anyone ever thought that they might have the money to get to launch regardless of player count and subs?
  11. Please define 'everyone'....... I dont play like that, I know LOADS of people in game, I have bought my ore from the start, I go to racing nights and casinos. My game is not defined by how much I have made per hour or the ore I can mine. I made all my money (and I have a LOT) from selling mainly T1 stuff, both on the market but also via shopping locations. I just wish NQ made it far easier for me to do so. I wish NQ never helped people fix ship but instead promoted player made services. The people I play with, one has literally only ever mined about 200kl of ore since alpha, and instead he sells ships, which means he spends loads of time talking to loads of people in the community on Discord. He has made BILLIONS that way. The interesting thing is, the majority of people I know who are 'happy' with the game, play the way we do. Dont get me wrong, there is still a long way to go.
  12. Interesting video but also goes to highlights the massive differences in people priorities. I would HATE survival elements to be added to the game, or NPCs and have zero issues with the lack of physics or the nebula (I actually prefer it). The thing that really annoys me is the lack of community based elements in game, players markets, the ability to advertise locations and services etc. I should be able to search for race tracks, entertainment venues, security and rescue services within the game interface. That is what I would have focused on to build 'a civilisation' improving the way players and orgs could interact with each other. The stuff you want, means zero to me, infact would make the game worse. The fact that you have been telling NQ what you want since alpha, does not make you right, it is your opinion. Also the lack of territory warfare gets my goat, not because I want to attack people but because i want the risk of being attacked. Oh and energy, that balances the whole game. Actually, if they added territory warfare, energy, player markets and some sort of player directory, I would be a very happy bunny. Not sure that is happening by launch though.
  13. Only solutions is full wipe with DACS compo for people who have payed (full wipe - meaning everything but BPs) No way you can keep the game as it is, I havent played properly in 6 months but have more stuff than a new player could get in two years in the current climate. That said, I will still be light years ahead on most 2 weeks in, my opening strategy from beta launch is pretty much unaffected. evil laugh
  14. The other amusing thing is you dont seem to have any idea the REAL reason why the ore price has shit the bed is. Several MAJOR ore whales that have been hoarding ore for many months and artificially holding the price high, mainly to ensure products like warp cells retain high value, have all started dumping ore before they lost a TON of quanta (as they have been buying at high prices for some time). I know this, because I have dealt with them since early alpha. To quote one "it was fun whilst it lasted" Couple that with the MASSES of additional ore mined by players clearing out mega nodes before the patch, which was also dumped. THESE are the reasons why it has plummeted. The people worrying about paying taxes lol, they have ZERO effect on the market. The players who effect the market, could stop playing for six months and still not worry about taxes. You people......lol, some of us know more than you think.
  15. I would still love to see that, no THAT is going to trigger some people on here, I will need mega popcorn when that arrives,
  16. You people? What people, please explain. You are a quite patronising, do you realise that? You could have just said, "no I dont do roids, so actually have no idea whether there is a time limit to their viability." Instead you make another long winded post, of no relevance to deflect from my original question. Are you a politician?
  17. Assuming they do nothing else to make any income, they just log in, do miners and log out.......
  18. Crashing back to ...... still twice the price everything was 3 months ago??? Not sure people selling some of the stuff they have been hoarding is a bad thing. Have you ever mined roids? Serious question, you seem to talk about it a lot but dont really seem to know much about it. I went out this morning (Wednesday) and got 20M very quickly? You do seem to like causing a panic......
  19. Or you could just get a few tiles, plonk some miners down and head into space and do proper mining on roids??? Not sure why people think autominers should replace ground mining. Really not sure that is the intention.
  20. Why do you think it would give such savings? This should be interesting.
  21. Not sure they want auto miners to be the main source of ore / income?
  22. Take racing for example, ANYONE can start a racing team with one of the current events that goes on. It costs next to nothing. OK, I have no doubt it is harder to start a track but that is where the community comes in. Venue owners as well, taxes dont effect them at all actually, you HQ the venue and then no problem. Ship builders, again no problem..... I still think NQ could do a huge amount more to improve community cohesion though, it is probably the area which could have the most effect with limited development time, just allowing players to find out what other players are doing and integrate, for me, that is civilisation.
