Q: Why does NQ always want to hand all your hard work over to other people?

NQ calls people's builds and hard work trash which is kinda insulting on its face but like anything else why do they not simply just turn it into a golden blueprint that can only be placed on their territory so players do not just respawn it back onto the pad or treat the pads like a dockable construct in which once the construct has been turned into a golden blueprint cannot land on the market pad it was compacted from?

Or just compact it into a golden blueprint and impound the construct via a script that does this automatically with a repo vendor or screen near the market keosks that charges rent via number of days?

NQ has done quite a lot of damage to the game and some people might be playing other games since they could be waiting for progress and why does NQ not have a system to notify people when patches like demeter or panacea drop where you are potentially going to lose your base or constructs via en email or text? Kinda bogus if you ask me?

Q: Why does NQ always go with the free candy approach to salvaging?

If NQ spent as much time with systems like salvaging as they do routinely trying to cut people's airbrakes, obstruct them, or nerf PvP into oblivion it might be a decent system, but as it stands it seems like they are just handing out jackpots of ore, elements, or bidding wars for ships which again compounds the problems of wrecking the economy even faster by doing so.

Nq again just seems to want to hand out free lunch as a bait and switch to just bait people into PvP and why make them wrecks instead of making players fight somekind of rudimentary PvP script that will fire on players that come to check it out and force the player to risk something to get the rewards and reward based on how much danger since NQ can break their own rules and create a wall of railguns with a huge jackpot of ore if they wanted or make armadas you have to actually "wreck" to loot them.

Its kinda dumb that NQ does everything they can to not introduce NPCs or rudimentary NPC scripts for PvP, Travel, etc to make this work and there are so many scripts they could use that requires nothing more than making the actors or flags to make their scripts persistant vs 1km and have ships, weapons platforms, space stations, ship fleets you have to fight in order to just cash in your jackpot lotto ticket rather than just handing over "Free Loot" because it sounds cool and NQ thinks we need free candy or a cookie.

If NQ put as much thought into things like this as they do for cutting peoples airbrakes every chance they get, Obstructing people forno reason, or nerfing PvP this might actually be a fun game.

    I don’t think a
player who has spent months or years gathering supplies should lose everything because they stop playing for a bit it should be packed up and put in a special inventory they can be reclaimed when they start playing again as far as salivate it sounds like a good idea but if I’m required two fly all over looking
i think fuel consumption needs two be reduced fuel use is Riley bad in this game in my opinion

    OK that's an argument.

But I also have an idea for that you could do underground mining in your own instance. So you have to place an element in your territory which gives you access to your own underground area, e.g. in a 1km depth.

This item could be an elevator, teleporter to its mine shaft.

So this does not have to be calculated for anyone else and thus the world itself is relieved and there are still ores underground.

I love the idea of this but I think the timers are a bit harsh. As with taxes it isn't about the design concept it is just about tweaking the numbers.

One thing that may help mitigate this is having some sort to of "impound" mechanic. This may be a down the line thing but having an element that allowed you or a service provider to store a ship essentially giving the ability to compactify any dynamic into a specialized element. There would have to be some cost associated with  each compactification and could only be unpacked in range of the impound element. This would avoid world clutter/data cost but also not take away player progress. A player could run this as a parking garage type of service.

I am also so happy about the salvage and shipwrecks coming in! I love that you have to manually go out and find them with a radar. Please though make them somewhat plentiful as the last version of land based shipwrecks were so few and far between it was barely more than a fleeting novelty. We want more ways to play consistently. I would love it if someone could use  salvage and shipwrecks as their core gameplay loop.

One thing that may help with this is bringing in the Upvote Website feature of Recyclers being able to recycle elements and honeycomb for pure or parts (only partial values put into making the original item). With this you could also bring back environmental damage to elements taking away element "lives".  I say this as a major issue with the game right now is there are almost no elements being taken out of the game thus no one has the need to buy new things. If you have fully "Broken" items popping up on shipwrecks and on markets then a salvage player (with high recycler talents) could get high yields out of things that normally would just be deleted. This takes resources out of the game slowly but also adds a new way to play outside of mining or manufacturing.

I do not have a full degree in game design so obviously take what I say with a grain of salt. I also really hate to being so prescriptive in this post but at this point I just want to be as direct as possible with feedback.

I agree with Taekessel, all these many thousands of tunnels and caves increased the data tremendously to levels where it became a problem for server and data transfer to the player computer.

But I would suggest that only when armed wth the haresting tol, the rocks show their ore-type indicating glow colors. Otherwise they should look like regular rocks. This suggestion may come halfway towards your own wishes, Trisbarl.

I really hope there will be a good solution for data export.
Several projects in the community depend on that.

We in our org built in months of work a whole own economy system.
Members can store their ores in our ore deposit, they get "HC" (our own currency) in exchange, and can use these HC in the fully automated shopping center to buy nearly any item for a cheap and steady price (what is important especially for new players). Our players can transfer their HC to other members, or can use them to order something from our industry department (if its not in the shopping center, or a really large order). This system works well and is a great addition and an advanced community creation. (If you are interested, check this video: Hyperion Warehouse and HC-System it's German and not 100% up to date, but you can understand most of the content just with the visuals)

And there are many more complex systems like this from other orgs and players, that rely on sync with external databases, because the DBs in the game are too small to handle this.

All of these advanced scripted community creations would be lost if there is no proper and easy way to export the data anymore.
If we are restricted to just the ingame DBs, this will kill massive creativity in scripting because of the limitations.

Trisbarl reacted to Hirnsausen in Build Mode: Ignore Honeycombs (X-Ray View)
It would be extremely useful, if we could switch on with a key the "x-ray view" during Build Mode, that would allow us to see where the elements are by blending out any honeycombs from the view, or blending them out to some extend (slightly visible). This would ease a lot the placement of elements in tight places that are otherwise hidden behind walls.

Some good progress has been made on Jago, check out the ecology there above and below water.

    But I agree with you.

If you ever have plaid Ark Survival Evolved, you will never foget the absolutely remarkable, very romantic and stimulating sunsets that colorize sky and landscape in colors and deep shades that get out all your feelings and emotions. I even built there a tall tower, just to oversee the wide landscape below me during sunset. Atone point, the entire land was in a golden color until it faded into the blackness.

I believe, DU is on its way, too, but has not yet reached its own emotional-atmospheric peak. I expect a lot to come still. Wouldn't mind rain and storms, too. Even earthquakes as long as they are non-destructive.

This is no flame, even if some words may sound harsh. I love the game, even if the progress is quite slow sometimes.

    Issue:
Aside from the markets, the world feels quite dead. There are some Industries with animated parts and you can create animations on a screen. But thats it.
Even if you build with several players together, to create a city or a large base - often just a few are online and at the location at the same time. Everything else is static.
Its only an asthetic issue, but this keeps the immersion of the world at a quite low level.

    Some ideas for a solution:
    - animated elements:
rotating gears, elements that move up and down and other stuff like this
    - particle elements:
elements that create smoke, fire, dust, sparks, water sprinkling effects and other
    - sound elements:
elements that play a specific sound in a loop or with a timer, when you get close
    - "NPCs":
a major thing would be NPCs. To distinguish between Players and NPCs, the NPCs could be simple Robots. They dont have to be too fancy. For example:
    1. An animated robot for just decoration. You place the robot like an element and it performs a simple animation.
    2. An animated robot as a "shop keeper", that works like the current dispenser.
To prevent exaggerated robot use, there could be high costs and a limitation per core.

These are just a few ideas on how the world could get more alive. Of course we would need more graphic options for this, so everyone can set the visibility range for the animations. Another topic connected with this is low poly models - even of already existing elements. Its quite annoying that a giant wing of a spaceship just plops in and out when you get closer/ farther away. Or that Industry Elements are either invisible, or rendered with all the details and animation. If there are low poly models of the larger elements that are shown at higher distance, we could get better looking far away constructs without extreme performance drops.

So what are your ideas to fill the world with some life?

World is not quite dead "the world feels quite dead.", because it's dead. I haven't seen any life in it only static pointless huge constructs. The only constructs I respect is hangar and factory. The rest of buildings like towers, apartments, houses and other crap is useless, because your Avatar don't need it. Your Avatar don't sleep, eat, poop and not event TALK :D.
    Ideas?
Wardrobe - place to change appearance (remove left menu button of avatar and add it here)
Bed placed on static core gives more logout bonuses. Something like 300 000 quanta for next login after N hours.
Toilets or showers - gives 6h boost to skill point learning.
Add "push to talk" for people to communicate and build conference rooms, bars and other useless honycomb piles.

I know NPC in DU it's only a dream, but I still have hope for this.
