I would still like to know why the new dispensers are not in game as announced. NQ has yet to say anything as to why they did not add them yet and they are specifically mentioned in the release notes (the old dispenser does not do what the notes say)

I would like to know about this as well.  I need to set some up and the only ones that are left are far away.  Would like to buy a schematic to one (any) of them, but they're not for sale.

  2. I'm actually a fan of giving MORE yield per click.  Why does a huge node in the ground only take up less than %1 of my ships inventory?  This would fix a lot of issues going forward with demand as well.  I'm talking 100t + each smaller node.  I will often mine for several hours and only get a couple 100t stacks.  It's getting really old.  I know they have plans, but increasing the yields significantly would help out A LOT.

  3. PvP definitely needs an overhaul, but one thing to consider...people are making these complex ships with lots of different parts.  Income is so incredibly hard right now because of the economy.  If these hauler types lose their ships to PvP actions, they won't be able to replace the parts for quite awhile.  I know I'm in this boat.  Not only that but mining for $$ is tedious.  T1 zaps fast sure, but hours and hours of mining will yield you only several million.

I agree totally that there's no reason to play PvP right now.  But until the economy is better and we have more than one way to gain money, I'm hoping they work on that first.  Good ship parts don't get produced in a vacuum, someone is making all those components from the basic level up.

Who has so much money that they buy enough stuff to support a market? Only people selling stuff to make money. But they’re selling stuff they make, not buying stuff.

People who want to make stuff need ore but the ore bots are purchasing at fixed prices forcing ore price up so that industrialists I’ve to mine themselves or purchase at a higher than going rate price.

but since so few people are purchasing parts because few people are rich the bottom drops out of the market squeezing the industrialists.

many can no longer make a profit.

Those wealthiest and smartest industrialists made money by mass producing things that sell, thus they tend to spend money on the magic potion fromdispensing bots in order to get more potions to power their machines to allow them produce more stuff. They’re not the sort of people who spend money on others’ constructs/elements.

I see what you're saying and don't disagree with it.

My balance always hovers between 1 / 3 million.  I've spent most of my $$ on schematics and equipment (as a starting industrialist).  I've mined my own ore.  I'm only at uncommon manufacturing, but will eventually work my way up.

I just picked some random things to make and put on the market for test.  I stayed away from the "stuff" that I knew others made and were popular.   I made M Screens, doors, all the wings I could find (including tips), command seats, hover seats, all adjustor sizes.  Am working on the hover engines now.   Small items that players would maybe buy because buying a schematic and making them were a pain.   I plan on buying some more shems for items like this in the future, but it'll take awhile.

The only thing that have sold near my market are the adjustors.  A larger corp or other industrialists aren't going to bother buying these items, because they'll just make them themselves.  If you had non-industrialist players, my thought is that these things would move.  I just feel based on sales, everyone is still making their own stuff, it's just a different iteration.

  5. I know this is a PvP game.

But I have no interest in PvP.  I can't stand it.  I'm a builder / industrialist.  I want to be more than just a target, I want you to earn your kill through skill.  I hope NQ gives us defenses to level the playing field so I'm not just a point / click / shoot.  I hope there's some depth in the end.  I see what's on the horizon.

With the economy the way it is now, you have to mine a significant amount of time to rebuy ship parts for a ship worthy of hauling ore planet to planet.  Keep that in mind going forward.  For you who hate to build, the utopia you want killing others for fun may have unintended consequences.

  6. There's a lot of great discussion here, but one thing stands out to me immediately -

NQ has the same schematic for sale, 5 times, with different prices.  I never understood that.  They just need to dedicate some time to cleaning it up.

This game needs an infusion of non-industrialists.  We're probably awhile from that though.

  7. Warping is so inefficient right now.  I hate the whole aspect of it.  I think a happy medium would be a Elite Dangerous type mechanic where a supercruise could be obtained.  Faster than 30k, but slower than warp.

I know it's their game and they can do what they want with the architecture, but I damn well guarantee you that the average player after release is going to hate this "slowboating" travel.  There are going to be numerous complaints.  Some people won't complain, they just wont resub.  Traveling A to B should never take 3 - 7 hours if you can't afford warping.

I like the idea of programmable robots. Have you looked into using transfer units to move goods between containers? They may help you keep things sorted until something more automated comes along.

I don't know what transfer units are.  I'll look into them tonight when I log on.  I think the eyes from Naunet must mean we're missing something.  ?

  9. This is embarrassing, but my personal issue with the schematics is that sometimes I don't remember all of them I've purchased and end up buying a duplicate.   I wish in addition to the OP's idea, there was a list of them somewhere that we have in stock.

  10. Great post.

I just want to interject one thing.  I've been doing a lot of mining lately and the biggest time sink for me is cleaning the node off.  If this process could be expediated a bit, it would help tremendously.  Like maybe a cleaning part of the tool?  Where I point at an area and it zaps the dirt / ground elements around it in a large area off of it?  I don't like the idea of mining bots either, but the fact of the matter is mining is straight up sickening.  I agree with you changes should be done there first before bots.

  11. I'm a relatively new player, mostly focusing on Industry.   I'm constantly fighting with containers and input / output to machines.  Seems like I always need more.

I was thinking how cool it would be to have a LUA programmable robot to do menial tasks for me.  Example would be to move 10kt of steel from one container to another.  The possibilities with LUA are endless as long as the robot could identify (by code) the item.

Perhaps even robots to repair modules down the road as long as the ship was parked at your base.  You could really have a lot of fun with them, and use them like they're used in real life.

  12. My question to the post 0.23 Industrialist focused players, who have their factories up and running - how are sales?  Has it been worth it?  Getting ROI back on the schematics on finished products?

When looking at the marketplace, prices seem to be all over the place.   I know element degradation / destruction is a hot topic, but I thought it would be ultimately good for the economy in the long run.  No point cranking out ship parts in factories if they never degrade imo. The PVP base atm doesn't support enough turn over on elements if you're selling them.

Fuel and warp cells seem to be popular (for obvious reasons).  Just kind of wanted to hear the community on this.

  13. I think you actually *help* PvP if you give industrialists / miners / etc. defenses to install on their ships other than warp to have a fighting chance to escape.   From what I gather, there is none of this right now.   It's simply run or die if you don't have warp.  It's completely stacked in PvP'ers favor from a kinetic standpoint.  People who do this type of playstyle could care less about PvP and just want to fly from point A to point B, and yes, this involves flying outside the "bubble".  Long tenured players can't stay there forever, or probably don't' want to anyways.

Beef up the tactics of defense if you want PvP to flourish.

I couldnt help but laught when reading the op, because either they arent listening or they need to put their heading aids in and turn that shit up to 10.

I cant help feeling like NQ was like hey we have this car and for a monthly fee we will let you drive it. Obviously they dont trust us or like how we drive so they put all sorts of limits on what we can do. But it feels like we have hit the point where NQ is like hey we dont like how you turn the steering wheel 60 degrees in either direction and we only intended it to turn at like 15 degrees in either direction so we are going to have to take the steering capability from you or make it so you can only turn the wheel every couple mins bc we dont like how you drive. So we sit here and debate why they shouldnt take the steering whell from us or the windshield next which is on their list and why it is important to us in its purpose and function when we know damn well no matter what we say they already got the tools out ready to take the winshield in the end. If we are lucky they just shatter the windshield and leave it broken and useless while we debate why they shouldnt loosen all the lug nuts off the wheels next.

The devs at EverQuest Next said it best when they shut down EQN and Landmark when they said "It just wasnt fun".

I'm not discounting your post, but I don't share your opinion.

I played early Beta on EQN.  This is way beyond that in scope.

I'm having fun.  I'm involved with a Corp of people having fun.  Is it perfect?  He** no, but I'm having an enormous amount of fun and I think it'll get better.  I don't share your negative viewpoint.

You're not speaking for everyone here. I don't want to produce everything so I can play it as basically a single player sandbox. You shouldn't be able to just produce everything extremely easily. You should have to interact with the markets and other players, just like the real world as far as production goes. That is NQs vision for THEIR game. Right now, the people playing the solo type game style are not playing it how they want the game to be played. I agree 100% with how they said most would get bored after a few months of just being able to produce everything in the game. That is "end game" and there is no real meaning past it. You don't have to work for anything. Unless all you want to do is build ships and constructs, then sure, that's cool for you, but that's not everyone in the game. I love the market side of things and want to see it play a larger role.

I second your post.  I'm not with the negative crowd either.  I see what they're trying to accomplish and I agree with it in theory.  It just needs a few tweaks, but that's why we're in beta!

I see the biggest danger to the live economy is bots buying ore. I hope this is just a beta thing.  I don't think you'll have a thriving economy with bots buying anything.

There is virtually nothing they could add to this game to make me want to play this for years.  Nothing.  It is simply not possible.  No game can do that.  At best they can squeeze a year or so of game play out.  At some point i'm sick of space/sci-fi and will go on to something else.  Holy cow what game have you guys been playing?!?

I've been playing Elite Dangerous off and on for 4 years.  Like you alluded to, I will get sick of the monotony and play something else for awhile.

I really liked industry.  It was challenging to see how many machines I could get going at once, how far ahead of my queue I could get and so on.  I would tweak on it for hours.  That fun is now gone and I am to be nerfed down to a refiner and honeycomb maker. So everyone in my org will now have to ask me to make all their honeycomb for them.   This is not fun game play.  Not ALL of us are here ONLY for the giant PVP battles that JC clearly wants to force us into.  He does not seem to want a universe full of diversity of game-play (like in most sandboxes) in any way shape or form.  We are ALL to join the three of four giant orgs in the game and become cogs in their machines.  I wanted a sandbox where I could help build a civilization, not be a slave for giant orgs that may or may not even want to get to know me as a person at all.

I am still hanging on, but ONLY for the sake of the players in my org.  I only have a few left and I love them to death, but I suspect that the ones who don't just outright quit will be forced to join larger orgs if they too want to engage in any PVP at all.  I doubt we will be able to build the modest sized transport company I have dreamed of anymore.  I dont have time IRL to do all that mining.  So, we'll see what happens, but I can tell you this.  I am REALLY going to miss playing with my factories.

Honest question though - do you think that play style would have kept you interested in playing for years?
