  1. So the only idea that really solves this dilemma, at least in part, is making the resources non existent near the arkship? I had seen this topic brought up in reference to other discussions, but thought that we may make greater headway if it was discussed on its own.
  2. I am sure that we have all thought of this to a certain extent, but I am curious to hear it discussed openly between organizations. Because of the fact that everyone is going to be spawning without resources at the arkship at least once (many of us uncountable times as we fail and die somewhere), there is obviously going to be very swiss-cheese-ish terrain around the arkship. Even if there is some kind of boundary on how close you can mine, it will just push the terrain destruction outward. Another thing that will exasperate this is if there are free trial accounts; these users are going to be much more likely to just mine out a section before a percentage get bored and leave. Are there ways that we could combat this? Or maybe, is this even an "issue" that needs to be counteracted? Should we just leave the arkship terrain to be mined into oblivion or take steps to prevent random destruction of the nearby ecosystem? Lots of organizations are going to want to have a presence as close as possible to the arkship; are these shops going to be left on pillars of earth as the rest is mined away?

  4. If possible, someone will manage it, but I think that large unchanging constructs are going to be more the norm.

  7. yes, yes. With all of my grammatical errors, you can see that I obviously still haven't learned English.
  8. I may just mention here that LUA was the first languages that I learned. I was only ~12 at the time and was able to write decent codes and my ~16 y/o brother was writing several ~50 page codes, so I don't think it's one of the harder languages. Not at least like C or C#, which is what I am using now.
  9. I would agree other than the issues of what has to be done with these extra cores. If you build to max with one core, add another core, and then add a bit more material, what happens when you try to move/remove the core? Can you not until the material drops below the single core limit again?
  10. I would hope that they have the cores limit the size of your construct (the largest being infinite sounds good). It would seem strange to have a pocket sized core tucked away somewhere in a capital vessel.

  12. Would everyone be traveling in a single ship for the most part? I guess I don't see what being an organization together actual does other than give you a name if you are not close enough with other party members to interact. Not that it is a bad thing, just curious what you are thinking.
  13. I agree, the ability to destroy someone else's hundreds of hours of work in seconds with something that you bought with real money isn't going to make that many people happy.

  16. I just spent this morning working on a new logo design for my organization Soul Nebula to replace the plain nebula picture that I had there before. Would be interested to hear what you guys think.
  17. There are another ~1100 organizations that only have one member, I don't know how many of those creators aren't in other orgs, but I would assume it's around 500.
  18. I would consider this except I only built the data-retrieval method and uploaded the data, the display is done completely through Graph Commons, so I can't change it. They may be interested in that suggestion though.

  20. I don't think that any changes other people make actually save, I am pretty sure they are all client side. And I am curious what you are using to display your map; I didn't notice by poking around in the HTML.

After waiting for an updated version of the original community map to show itself on the forums for a long time, I finally took it on myself to create my own up-to-date version. After a lot of original set up, my method now requires little time and almost non-existent server strain, allowing me to refresh it many times a day if there ever was a reason to. Due to my limited knowledge of this type of undertaking, TheGreatSardini helped me with the start up. Unless I missed one, this map should contain every organization with at least two members. (Although Graph Commons may not be the best available method of displaying this node map, it is the best that I have found available to the public.)   23. I agree with Falstaf. I am excited for the release, but I am fine if they delay it until July if it means that they are able to release a more stable version.
