  1. Your a man in the know A while back I totalled my ship 3 times in a row. Trying to work out how to enter Alioth with a heavy load. I repaired it the 1st time with T1 scrap (took hours) then I found the wonders of T2 scrap. Anyway, I got so annoyed I purchased a "repair unit" As I recall, it was pretty pricey. When I try to access it I get a message "repair unit not active on this server". I have asked people in the support channel but nobody seems to know. Are repair units not implemented yet? or, is mine just not working for some reason? and why are they for sale if they are not implemented?
  2. Thanks for your experienced view on the situation. Regarding skill points. I'm pretty sure they are going to have to reset them again as they just moved the goal posts again.
  3. You put a lot of effort into the post and it is interesting. I think its a bit narrow though. With regards to energy, you seem to be focusing on a very small part of human history (maybe 200 years). It is conceivable and definitely possible that all energy production could be free within the lifetime of many on the planet. The fossil fuel industry is doing their best to stop that happening. Before energy was a thing, the big money was in food production.
  4. Sounds like you will be able to scrap it to get parts and minerals. Not sure if it will be profitable though. As far as stealing ship and using or selling the parts, this patch is not a solution. PvP needs to work for the game to work.
  5. Sorry. Any ideas where the leaks are coming from then?
  6. They have leaked on multiple occasions which is basically sabotaging the game so yes disolve. On that note. I didnt sell a single schematic last night, which leads me to suspect, even this change was leaked.
  7. I agree with you on the space trucking, I'm doing that myself. However, I dont thinks you read all of NQ'a post. The number of times you can repair an element on a ship will basically be eliminated now. Unless its PvP. At least, thats what I think I read.
  8. Thanks for your input. No, I didnt have and ECU
  9. So the announced changes sound like they will make the player base a lot happier. Good. There is a problem though. 1) Some players, like me, took NQ's advice and didn't speck into industry. So, does this mean our points will need to be reset again? 2) I put almost all my points into pilot skills. I'm currently a merchant buying, transporting and selling schematics. I just checked my price and I'm competitive. I normally sell around 7 to 10 schematics overnight. Last night I sold zero. Its seems obvious this was leaked (again). It also seems that people with all their funds tied up in schematics are now bust? Frustrating, I'm sure its not intentional but, some of us did what NQ wanted us to do, did they just screw us over?
  10. My guess is this change was leaked. NQ is a sieve. I did what you wanted. I allocated almost zero points to industry or mining this time. I put the majority of my points into pilot. Deciding to be a merchant. Guess what I have been buying transporting and selling ........... you guessed schematics didnt you So, I guess this explains why I didnt sell a single schematic over night. Currently on my way back from Jago with a bunch of schematics to sell in Alioth So, does this mean I'm bust?
  11. What I know (from testing): So, we are travelling at 29,999 (top speed) We log off: Upon logging back in we are doing 28,500 (so, our speed was reduced by 1,500) If we log off and back in again our speed will be 27,000 and so on. What NQ has said: If the player logs off: Whilst logged off the ship wont be moving. Upon logging back in again the ship will continue moving but at reduced speed (see what I know above). Whilst the player is logged off. If any other player is in the vicinity our ship will continue to move. As I understand it, our ship that was doing 29,999 when we logged off will be stationary until we log back in or another ship comes within radar range ((not sure if they need radar fitted for it to count) 2su}. If another ship comes within that range our ship will be moving. What I dont know: 1) Whilst logged off: When a player see's my ship, is it travelling at 29,999? or does the act of seeing my ship make it travel at 28,500? This is very important in regards to PvP. 2) So, if the above (1) does slow my ship does it slow again, to 27,000 when I log back in. 3) If, we are seen by multiple ships does our ship get multiple slow downs? Are the slow downs dependant on number of spacecraft or number of players? So, would a vessel with 4 players slow our ship by 6000? The inexplicable: So, what just happened to me. I started my trip from Jago to Alioth last night (3 to 4 hour trip). I travelled out of the main shipping lane. About a third of the way I logged off (doing 29,999) and went to bed. I live in Australia so the majority of the population of DU probably plays whilst I'm asleep. This morning I logged in and my ship is stationary. Is it just a bug? Or was I spotted by at least 20 other players, resulting in my ship losing all its speed? If you know the answer, you deserve a prize. For the 1st correct answer I will boost your container of choice to level 5 mass (only lvl 3 volume).
  12. I am enjoying the game at the moment. I decided to forget about my small factories. The only machines I can use are refinery Lvl2, recycling lvl2 and Plastics lvl2. So, I am self sufficient for fuel and voxels (I use plastic for most building projects). The rest of my machines lie idle and I may end up selling them at some point (no point currently). Put all my points into containers (mass lvl5) and piloting. So, I'm space trucking. Other than trucking I am finishing off my space station which I'm really enjoying. I think the fact that I only needed about 10 cheap schematics has preserved my sanity. I'm just doing other stuff until the market hopefully sorts itself out (or NQ intervenes)
  13. Does anybody know how to tell if components have been boosted and by how much? So, I can tell if fuel volume is boosted by how much the tank holds, but Engines? Whilst I'm on the topic I was checking build mode for a way to tell and I noticed that the information in build mode tells me that my tank holds 400L when it actually has 560L. That makes me wonder whether or not the build mode or even the flight mechanics take the extra weight of the fuel into account? Which is kinda important for the fuel tank mass reduction skill. Anyway, right now my primary concern is engines. Cant remember what I boosted them to pre 0.23 and I dont have engine boost skills anymore
  14. Did, I miss something. Why can most players only do low tier mining?
  15. I took a bit of a risk with the skill reset. I have gone the trucker route as I really don't like mining.' The only industry I have is enough to make my own fuel and T2 scrap. Also plastic because I do a lot of building with plastic and its the same machine that makes fuel. All my skills are in Piloting and Container, fuel tank weight reduction. So, far I have done OK just transporting Schematics and selling them on the market. Only needed my personal transport for that. I have all of my old parts on the market as well as ore and refined but hardly any of it is selling. 95% of my sales currently are schematics. That said the schematics market is not so good now. Instead of simply matching the price players are undercutting by 50% at a time. As XKentX says, its probably going to be a couple of weeks before the market stabilises. Players are not buying parts because they dont have the machines to use those parts or the quanta since schematics took a lot of quanta out of the market place.
  16. In an effort to give players a reason to stick with the game (a bit ify myself) I thought I might start a thread with ways to make quanta during the depression. So with the skill reset I decide to spec mostly into piloting (I guess I'm a space trucker). I have no industry skills other than I can make my own fuel. Thus I have avoided having to purchase more than maybe 10 low level schematics. I only had 6 million saved. OK, onto money making: 1) Right now schematic transport is a great way for low level players to make quanta. Check which schematics are not available in certain planets. Head out to the nearest planet that does have bots selling them, buy some. take them back and put them on the market at double price for quick sale or we can charge a lot more on outer planets since people there are mining high tier ore and have cash but not time. All you need is a (space capable) personal transport (relatively cheap). I dont have a warp and my personal transport runs on the smell of an oily rag. 2) Mining, Bots are paying a guaranteed price for ore at the moment. 3) Emergency rescue services. A small ship with very modest storage could charge for emergency rescue services. Now that elements and core's can expire. So, go out and swap their core (fast service required), deliver fuel, and repair ships. Could be good for players who have specked into repair tool, container range, fuel tanks and especially scrap production. I just checked and I made 500,000 quanta profit, whilst typing this thread (I am a slow typist though). Anybody else have ideas to share? I know in normal times you might keep it to yourself but these are not normal times
  17. I wanted to build ships and engage in PvP. So far I have built some ships and space stations I am very proud of. Although thats on hold right now (of course). I have not engaged in PvP at all. It seems to be something you need a tight group of friends to engage in. I might be wrong but that my impression so far.
  18. Ship building is one of my fav things to do in this game. The recent update makes it really difficult for ship builders. However, would not a sandbox building mode mean that builders can totally remove themselves from the games economy? Other than making quanta from selling blueprints. They would never have to travel, never have to buy anything, never take a single risk to get parts etc. It seems as though it would create a single player game. I think something does need to be done so that creative players can be creative (without months of grinding 1st). I just don't think removing them from the games economy and risk is the answer.
  19. How many people have even heard of the "Gold Star Puzzle"? Where does the game inform us of such a puzzle? The 1st puzzle (that you had to of played alpha to have had the slightest chance to complete) was something that would have bewildered most players that started on Beta release or shortly after as I did. The 1st we heard of it was after it was over. Now apparently the puzzle continues. Although how your supposed to progress in the puzzle if you dont have the knowledge gained by the 1st puzzle solvers is an even bigger puzzle. At any rate there have been other threads and posts about how to engage the entire player base in puzzles and missions. They are simple in that they are restricted to, for example. Players with less than blah blah skill points. or, zero points in Ammo, or over blah blah points in ammo. By restricting some missions (and puzzle information) to certain classes (PVE, PVP, transporeter, miner) and levels of experience you give everybody a go. If they put some decent rewards in as well. then cool
  20. Seems logical. I was sure pretty they were not there though.
  21. I went to Thades and picked up some tier 2 pure schematics to sell on Alioth. When I got back they were for sale by bots. I thought I checked the market thoroughly before purchase. I saw that some other players were selling on Alioth for high prices but could not see any bots selling them. Its quite possible I am mistaken but I think maybe I just got undercut by bots
  22. Hello fellow mining slaves. I am unable to put any schematics into any industry. I just submitted a bug report but thought I would check here in case I'm just an idiot and missing something. If you think you have an answer for me, please, dont hold back. Here is an example of the issue. Cant put "pure carbon schematic" into "refinery M" Trained talent to lvl 2 refiner proficiency Purchased pure carbon schematic (which I have tried from nano and container linked and unlinked) activate refiner (F key) click schematic bank tab (shows me my nano with the schematics) drag schematic over the schematic bank tab and release mouse button. The schematic does not go into the refiner. nothing happens. I should also add that I have tried picking up and placing the refiner as well as delete cache and a reboot
  23. Same here, a very loaded survey. Not many people can make a decent survey. Subscription runs out in Jan. I was ify before this patch. I realise more patches like this will be necessary. The patch itself wont make me quit but the chaotic decision making from NQ might.
