Try making an actually circular curve in Space engineers with voxel blocks and come back to us..

If you see nothing different about how DU handles voxels then I guess you are either visual impaired or not really aware you can in fact pretty much free form voxels..

Still no reason for it to consume so much computing power.

So my conclusion is - current meta kills pvp in any other form than ganking. Kills shipping outside safe zone. And kills everything which is not borg minicube killbox, at least outside safe zone. Until this is change, and we know what will come after, any changes to safe zones can wipe huge percent of player base. Only gamblers and gankers would stay - and gamblers tend to bankrupt themselves so they would probably be wiped out of the game too, by pure natural selection. Than gankers would follow because they would have literally nothing to hunt for.

    Agreed

You stop (explode?) if you run into a construct while warping. And the warp mechanic doesn't care if there is anything in the way - it just hurtles you to the beacon.

... so if someone locks a planet for a warp and there's a space station wall in the way, they explode?

that sounds like a major bug that needs to be addressed asap

Not a bad idea. That would certainly lead to some interesting freighter designs in pursuit of smallness!

I'd love to see some NQ feedback on this topic.

It could also lead to multi crew dynamic ship reconfiguration... slap on a couple L thrusters, use em to change a vector, then remove before a lock could be established. Or add them for an acceleration burn and remove at speed to present a smaller target.

Alt f4 is all we have to not rage quit the game......

    Ahhahahahahaha.

All bugs should be fixed, especially 'useful' ones. That said, that's a hilarious bug sequence break.

Like how many years will we have to play with the damn AGG bug?

Are you saying that bug has existed since Alpha?

  6. What if targetable range was determined by highest tier of elements on a target ship? L gun+radar on an XS core? Targetable at L range. M gun / L radar on that XS core? Targetable at L range. S gun and M radar? Targetable at M range. Etc. Non-combat XS core ship with L engines? Targetable at L range.

  7. Pvp really doesn't make much sense in the ingame lore. Humanity escapes a destroyed home planet and comes to a new solar system to rebuild society. Where does conflict and self destruction help with that? Keep it to VR, if anything.

Sociopathy and psychopathy are mental illnesses that should have been solved and completely removed from such a society.

As Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator said, we should try to help each other; not profit from misery and despair.

Rather consider that once you run out of resources in your land

Surface rocks. As they actively regenerate in real time, infinity T1+T2 resources can be obtained from a single Sanctuary hex, given time and effort.

I actually haven't mined any subsurface deposits yet and I have a fully enclosed S static core (256m3 of shiny black iron, ~1024m3 of shiny black concrete, and 256m3 of matte black concrete) and am gradually filling it with lovely machinery.

It is tedious and requires lots of precise clicking and holding, true, but at optimal rates, I can obtain up to 24kL of T1 (20 rocks per minute) or 14kL of T2 (12 rocks per minute) per hour.

I got the achievement for 10kL of surface coal rocks last night, but the achievement for 100kL of surface quartz rocks will probably take a few more days.

  9. I see no reason why a civilization with such advanced hand-held tools should not have vastly more powerful construct based tools.

I envision a mining ship with an x-ray vision mode that allows pinpointing of resource nodes from a km away underground, excavating a passage to the node, and mining it.

    Let's make it happen, NQ.

Oh and also, resource nodes really should be a lot bigger in general. 10x the current minimum size as the new base minimum. Same resource count per hex, naturally.
