  1. do you think just because you lie about something it will become the truth? ridiculous. You seem to fail to see the contradiction of feeling insulted when someone questions your gaming skill but still insisting that using 5 accounts against 1 account wouldn't be a definite advantage for the multiboxer, thats quite worrisome. Its a bit like being insulted if someone calls you gay and at the same time saying that in your opinion gay people are the same as everyone else, pure hypocrisy.
  2. I gave several logical reasons why multiboxing should not be allowed. Don't answer in a topic if you dont read the comments, which you obviously didn't if you claim that there are no valid arguments.
  3. In the last few months we've seen quite some suggestions concerning mandatory mechanics like food, having to log out at certain places etc. I wont say that you shouldn't do those suggestions, but i want to remind you on what Dual Universe is supposed to be: " [...] the game focuses on massive scale emergent gameplay based around exploration, voxel building, trade, politics and warfare." taken directly from the website. It is not a survival - roleplay simulator ! So please, while having suggestions like these, try to think about them in a way that won't impact people who want to play Dual Universe as what it is announced to be
  4. that reasoning is flawed. I don't understand how you can think it'd be valid. If one person has a Ship and good, scripted drones, what would keep the multiboxing person from having the same thing for each of his accounts? Do you really want to call PvP fair if someone with 5 Accounts can fight against someone with just 1 account? Thats utter nonsense. If all conditions are equal for both players, the one with more accounts will always win, even if those accounts only consist of some long range turret ships. (except you want to tell us that you're so bad at gaming, that you need several times the amount of ressources and ships to beat a single opponent )
  5. LUA scripting, was mentioned in a dev blog.
  6. i think nearly instant building as long as you have the blueprint and ressources should be included, they wont force a player to stay at the same spot for 10 minutes or something like that. They want to include hacking, so i think the nanoformer will also have a hacking interface, thus making it to some kind of multi-purpose tool, maybe we can upgrade it ourselfs with a limited amount of extra features.
  7. the nessecarity to log out at certain places would be very annoying, thus not likely, a basic feature that can be needed anytime can't be bound to such circumstances.
  8. Multiboxing in pvp is an easy target? sure if there are enough players, but if we consider a 1 player vs 1 player situation where one of those multiboxes and uses 5 spaceships, the outcome is pretty clear, obviously a case of unfair advantage. And no, it is not ridiculous to have to travel between markets, because thats where interaction with pirates etc. comes into play. I do not understand how anyone could think that multiboxing is not an unfair and quite big advantage, thats ridiculous.
  9. i disagree, multiboxing gives the players doing so a definitve advantage against other players, in ressource collection as well as in pvp, so it should definitely not be allowed.
  10. The highest demand in time is the testing, and honestly, just a few generations of cell samples just wont do the job in a complex system like a human. We don't talk about something like giving humans skinpigments that can reflect UV or something like that, we talk about integral changes which lead to completely different races. If the future on mankind rests on those new races they certainly wont go untested, because there could always be degeneration effects over several generations. Considering the Human genom project, yes, it advanced extremely fast in the end because of the use of decentralised networks, but that was only possible because the work was done automatically by an algorithm, there was no need for intelligence. The development of a new race is something completely different, you need a lot of manpower for something like that. (yes, i know, it was just an example to make your point, but it doesnt really fit in this case because the work process is completely different) The longest time for research is the measuring and testing after the samples were created, and for the last straw of mankind it wont be cut short or reduced to a few series of cell-samples. We have seen problems occuring because of insufficient testing in the past, be it because the amount of samples was to few or because humans had, unexpectedly, a different reaction than test animals, i repeat myself here when i say that such a thing wont do if the survival depends on it.
  11. sry, but thats just your opinion about it, but that doesn't make it true.
  12. yes, indeed, i can't be sure about how long such a development will take, but a few estimations are possible. We just "recently" finished mapping the human genom, wich doesnt even mean that we know how all genes interact. Making changes to it that don't only target a few genes with single purposeses will take at least 10 to 20 years and you surely can't expect the creation of complex DNA strands which improve/change an organism in more than single properties within the next 50 years. The earliest date in which we would be able to create a seperate race, even if we only change human DNA and don't completely synthesize it, will be in something like 100 years. What follows afterwards is throughout testing if the changes work properly and don't impact the person negatively, for something like that you need several generations of test subjects which have to be watched till they are at least 70 (wouldn't make sense to shorten the lifespan, so you have to see if nothing wrong happens in old age). Lets assume you only test up to the 7th or 8th generation (which is far to few, but we dont have much time) that takes another ~300 years. and then you have barely a century left to get a big population of those people to ensure their survival? Very unlikely. Of course you could say that they could go untested just to have more races, but i definitely don't like it. Aside from the fact, that no one in his right mind would research more human races and increase the diversity, because in human history diversity always led to war and discrimination, and when the survival of humanity is on the line they surely wont work on increasing potential threats to it.
  13. ooh, there's a long long way from these little playthings to actual genetic modifications where you could call the result a new race^^
  14. so, you think that humandkind which has pooled all ressources in creating a few ark-ships still has the opportunities to create a few thousand stable mutations which lead to completely new races? I'm honored that you give scientists so much reputation, but it is really extremely unlikely^^ And just because its used in many different scifi works it doenst mean it has to be used in DU. We still dont even know if you ever leave your space suit^^
  15. sry, but no matter what you do, 500 years are nothing compared to the time a species neesd to evolve, you could argue, that they tried to engineer the perfect human to survive in the space and made different versions of it because they weren't sure how well it would work, but even that takes a long, long time for development and an even longer time to get a proper population base, so no, you can be pretty sure that the beings on the arkships are very similar to us now. And it is even more unlikely, that we encounter aliens in the next 500 years which are participating in thausands year long cryo-sleep instead of just using their own spaceships or, if they're damaged, helping the humans to build a proper ftl engine. So i'd say no to aliens too.
  16. most of what you said doesnt fit into dual universe: Dungeonraids with limited team size means instanced dungeons, there wont be anything like this in DU PvP worlds, be it small or large, are meaningless, as the whole universe will be a pvp zone Gear-Score is useless.. because there are no instances, you can go everywhere from the beginning (as long as you dont die) Multiple-playable races doesnt fit lore-wise, but maybe they'll include it in an addon, far far far in the future. As for regenerating farm worlds, i suppose the wildlife on the planets will respawn, but you certainly wont get money from the system for killing npc, because there is no system-money. Free yourself from your casual mmorpg-experiences and embrace the all-embracing, unlimited sandboxness of dual universe
  17. i'll be happy if i see this, but so far the fantasy genre is far more populated than science fiction.
  18. i think i can spare some time to moderate a discord chat
  19. early 2017 might be the stat of pre-alpha, thats still a loooong way till release. Also keep in mind, that pre-alpha and alpha accounts and servers are normally wiped regulary or at least at the end of the phases, so paying real life money for a space station which will be deleted shortly after might not be worth it.
  20. you're to optimistic, WoW is targeted at a far larger audience than DU, so DU will never have that many players, that aside i agree to the 10$/month subscription, because its mostly for service, servers, mainntenance and maybe some little tool updates and ingame events. They wont have as big content updates as traditional MMOs have.
  21. except for except for gw each one of those was subscription-based in the beginning, wich definitely played a big role in their initial earnings and development.
  22. yes, stupid, greedy devs, how dare they to want a secure income for paying servers and salaries, i mean, if i look for a job i also always take a initial payment thats aproximatly 4-5 months of work worth without a monthly salary, i can do extra work and be payed for that, right? totally legit...
  23. it was already said, that this will be a thing. Other, system-enforced, safe zones outside of the starter area? a big nope.
  24. Very very very very very unlikely. 1) stars are big, damn big, that means damn many voxels 2) stars are fluid/gaseous, that means every "hole" you create with mining would have to be closed automatically with new voxels while at the same time the voxels of the outer hull have to be removed, that means a very high amount of calculations for everyone "mining" the star.
  25. As long as Servers and Personal has to be payed for monthly, subscription will never be outdated^^ There are just to many people around today who others to spread their work for free.
