  1. yes, its named selfmade.
  2. just no If you get a group of players together who have the means to obliterate everyone else even if they band together, then you might be able to create something like a universal goverment, but aside from that. No.
  3. As DU will develop their own lore its useless to write anything thats even close to the time-line of DU, so all your choices for the time in which the story takes place except for the second one make no sense.
  4. comparing no mans sky and dual universe because both are science fiction mmo is like comparing cars with planes because both are fuel powered means of transportation.
  5. Planets with a radius of 30km - 100km, we're talking about 11000 to 130000 km² surface area here. You call that small?^^ Thats the size of greece, do you know how long it would take to explore greece with a few thousand people?^^
  6. and then some troll was nice enough to build a resurection node on that planet
  7. google on my regular quest for searching good mmorpg ^^
  8. at the time of the release the new generation of consoles should be able to run it. whether they have time to spare to code a console version is questionable tho.
  9. no, you were saying 6-5.6km which is extremely small, 1/7 of a marathon so 30km radius is far far smaller than earth with its 6500, your pictures dont make sense^^
  10. let me correct this for you, this game might come out in 2018 or even early 2019. And at that time consoles will be able to handle that game. Besides that, just writing jk after being rude doesn't excuse shitty attitude. Else we wouldn't have a need for judges and lawyers. Either you don't write something like that or don't shrink back if you dislike someone/something.
  11. i'd rather have organization forums in the community page
  12. Its ok, we will have to stay on such an initial planet for several months, so its great if a few thousand people wont be able to completely explore it within a few days. Additionally not the whole surface of the planet will be interesting for players.
  13. mh, i think thats a misinterpretation, for me it looks like the normal trees on sandy ground, they most likely don't check yet if the ground fits to the trees.
  14. that artwork only means we will have planets with deserts, but not that deserts and forests will be on the same planet^^
  15. looks good so far, but that video made me wonder, will there be climate zones on the planets? (i know its prealpha, and that would probably be something that comes later, still curious tho)
  16. always when i read that i become somewhat depressed, because thats just not true. but nearly everybody says that. Antimatter has as much energy as matter, its nothing special except that its "anti" and because of reasons the universe is dominated by normal matter, thats all. The energy you are talking about is "created" (or rather transformed as we all know) when matter and antimatter annihilates each other and the mass is converted to energy. If we had a technology that can completely break down normal matter then that would be as efficient as using antimatter (only much safer) Additionally there is energy that is far more concentrated than normal- or antimatter, in neutronstars matter breaks down to single quarks, making the density of energy far higher. In black holes its even more dense even tho we sadly don't know anything about the state of matter inside, but the density of energy is exponentially higher than in neutron stars. But to say something constructive, i think in terms of antimatter we don't have to refere to much to the present, as the research concerning production and containment is slow and pretty much in its infancy stage. I would imagine, that we are able to find better means to create antimatter than using colliders in the future, thus making it viable for a hard sci-fi mmorpg.
  17. i hope we will be able to create our own chatbots, if they can eb linked with external databases, then thats enough =)
  18. its pretty simple, there will be people who buy stars to give them to others and people who do everything to get those stars, especially if they are linked to something like playtime. The people spending money on those stars aren't the problem, thats fine. The problem are those people who would do a lot to get these stars, for example creating a lot of polarizing posts, attacks on more or less disliked members of a community etc. It doesnt need to work always, for something like that its ok if 1 out of 50 posts gives a star, as long as you post enough. Thats why it would induce spam. The ideal that only high quality posts get stars won't happen because people are emotional creatures and if someone starts an emotional or polarizing topic then there are bound to be some who give out stars for that.
  19. As for the OTA (where everyone who wants to sell and trade their stuff should join )we will most likely use a not to cheap consumable with a very high trading volume as currency. If there is none of such consumables (I'd think its something like energy cells or something alike) we will take the ressource with the highest trading volume as currency. The value will most likely be a function of rarity and times needed to gather/craft to get a rough estimation of the initial prices. The final prices will be settled completely by the economy itself (i do hope we get at least a small polygol for most items running).
  20. thats indirectly due to a lack of gravity and directly because the muscles don't have enough work to do, so they degenerate. It doesnt matter if you're in cryo sleep for 10k years on earth or in space, your muscles will be completely degenerated when you wake up, but thats it. Thats what our friendly ARK-AI is for, to "repair" us
  21. No, reddit does this to increase their amount of posts due to players trying to "earn" those trophies, which isn't exactly the goal for the DU forum. I'd rather not want a system that induces spam.
  22. Implants like in anarchy online
  23. - flora and fauna make sense without food, be it as hostile enviroment that has to be survived or just because its a planet with an ecosystem - "important" feature for exploration, it'd be just another consumable additional to energy, fuel and similars. Not really nessecary. - ressource to trade and store - one of hundreds of ressources, the market won't need food to strive because every other ressource would still be far more important and traded in a far higher volume. - sense for kitchen elements and rp, i'll give you that, it does make sense for rp. But then again, for rp you dont need to make food a nessecarity, just keep it as rp element without a need to eat it.
  24. the language is becoming a little bit toxic here, heated arguments are great, but pls avoid direct insults like "some asshole" etc. agriculture for medizin/catalysators etc. is great, but ofc. not in connection with a food mechanic. Even if some may find it appealing to have to eat every few hours, most voxelbuilders and general mmo players will find it annoying, and thus it's something not desireable for a mmo which aims to have more than 100players online at the same time, thus no matter what the people in the forum say, the devs wouldn't be so ... "optimistic" to implement something like that. I think that topic was mentioned often enough and doesn't need further discussion for now ^^
