  1. From my point of view up here it looks like you have a long way to go ok .... not really I'm going to build a PokeStop
  2. I don't think there has been a game like this that allows players to script functioning objects in game that I know of (which is very little). I have wondered about the balancing of this feature. The best way to have "contained freedom" I am sure will be discussed over and over even after the Arkship wakes us up. As mentioned there has to be some sort of give and take. There has to be the freedom to be unique but limited so there is no best in everything ship. Roles and then specializations within those roles must be allowed. Like Eve, mining ships ... there is a tank, there is a fast mining miner, and there is a bigger storage hold one. There are also ones that can cloak, ones that mine certain elements better than others, etc. Each one has a use and is better than the rest for the role and specialization it is made for. The slider idea is good but with something like this it is like multiple sliders affecting each other. Allowing the player to choose may work but I also see that could lead to a cookie cutter setting. The balance of this depends on the balance of the mechanics in the game though really. If in mining a mineral you can choose for example a faster cycle time but less mined per cycle, then the mechanics of the game must not allow an advantage of speed over yield or vice versa. Truely if this is done right DU could be a "game changer" but if it can not be done right then a huge attractive part of the game becomes a tedious exercise. This is so delicate I believe to have everything in balance for each part of the game to work well in terms of allowing variety and true creativity. If it ends up being just an illusion of inventing, uniqueness, or creativity then the game would be better off without it. The Yin has to balance with the Yang Also I have to say while reading this thread I kept hearing something in my head ....
  3. Stargates will be able to connect to any other gate within its distance limit. I like this idea. Like Eve you can have campers that just sit there and blow people up. This way there is a work around so you get people roaming and playing instead of sitting in one spot and going pew pew pew. There may be bottlenecks at times and only one other gate in an area but the possibility to work around that is an option I like.
  4. You liked your own post? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqhaTPu732U
  5. "I will be the first one to invent something that can store star dust ... and not melt or die in the process. " 10 years later .... "Ahhh ... forget it"
  6. Luck ... I forget exactly but watching youtube somehow I found it through the related vid list on the right side. I think it was XPgamers or something who made the vid
  7. I do like the idea ... however let's all get off the starter planet first
  8. I'm very happy to announce that the Yin Yang Federation has been given the power to create the currency in DU. Our goal will be to protect the purchasing power of the currency while trying to promote high employment for the people of DU. This is a service provided by Yin Yang Federation and in the best interests for everyone. Yin Yang Federation will not keep any profits made from our services, only cover costs of operation. Worked for the crooks at the Federal Reserve
  9. BURN JITA!! Name it Burn DU!! Oh wait nothing special about that will be the game
  10. Playing NMS just makes me want to play DU even more like right now
  11. As stated before, I would love to adjust the size but the forum doesn't allow that and I don't have en editor on my computer that can adjust the size ratio
  12. They can always be a slave ... uh hem ... I mean seek employment from other players
  13. I fixed your post Seriously friends will be important, and that's what I prefer myself. However you must admit the above is true as well. In mmo's I am always looking to make friends .... my enemies are always the ones who pick a fight/aggressive first. Then they don't last too long anyway hahaha
  14. I do like that system, for the reason you listed here .... BUT .... I do like also being rewarded for what you do in the game. You may get the log on set skill training log off problem which does not promote continuous in game playing or toons active in the universe. If there could be some kind of combination of the two that would be great. Obviously it wouldn't be train the same skill either way or both ways but the time training is sort of raising the roof or opening doors and the repeat the action will increase efficiency. For example I can only chop down wood and dig dirt with skill mining 1 time trained and then iron and copper with mining 2 time train etc. However the more I dig dirt the more I can get per second or less loss I have when digging. This would stack with any tools that people can build. Not sure how the balance would work or if it could but this would have best of both worlds in a way, limit those playing 24/7 to max out skills quick and not have to specialize or rely on others for different things BUT!!! does still promote active online playing. If I had to choose one however the time training is preferred even though it is so annoying to wait, you do appreciate it more when you achieve it and it does become more valued by other players if it is a skill that takes a long time.
  15. as stated, organizations can do whatever they want to. It can be a crime just to call the leader a bad name ... punishable by death. However like in the real world an organization doesn't have jurisdiction over any other unless said organization agreed to it. Like we may have a law that says if you don't like bacon then you get KOS but we couldn't enforce that in your territory .... unfortunately.
