  1. It's still not anywhere near as serious as people think. I'm not defending anyone, or any NQ choices. But this is just getting way out of proportion. From the way it appears, every single player in here has just finally purchased their warp beacon schematic after years of gruelling labour and now the game is ruined for everybody. It sucks that a small handful of people feel like what they achieved has been minimised. But the warp beacon schematic thing is really no where near as bad as people want to believe.

There is no way that he is going to find 100 people with 400 million to blow on a schematic.

  2. Dunno about anyone else, but for me ship building is 20 mins placing all the elements and then days or weeks of honeycomb work to make her look how I want. Pilot talents and higher quality engines mean you don't need to stack hundreds in to make her function. But getting the honeycomb just how I want it, that can take longer than I would even use the ship for in the end! For me that's why this space lego game is so fun.

What I mean to say is, building a ship that you like the look of is not limited by the mechanics of the game. It is difficult and it takes time and effort and more than anything, practice.

I can't even blueprint my two largest ships which I've spent several hundred hours on designing, tweaking, rebuilding, tuning with skills and finally voxelising the hell out of them!
    Can't even make blueprints.

"Just copy and past the voxels to a new core" NQ said... "And then delete and repaste the elements... simples."

Yeah, on an L core with hundreds and hundreds of elements, some placed cheek to jowl. There is likely no way I'll ever get them back in their original positions. Like if I move one, I can never seem to put it back to where it was, I have to undo...  Poor construction practices I know but the thing is optimised to hell and back: It's personal, it's unique and I wanted to keep it or even sell the bloops if people are interested.

But NQ don't even KNOW why I can't make blueprints... I could before. I have MUCH older blooped versions of these ships in my inventory... So there's no way I'm rebuilding them if NQ can't even root out the cause of the issue I'm having!

So if the wipe comes without them fixing the problem with the bloops, it's likely Sayonara with a capital S!

I know it is a pita to do, but if you really had to...you know you can quickly and accurately place elements in exact positions using the 3 axis grid references in build mode? Yeah, it's a lot of work I know, but it is quite methodically possible to get every element transferred exactly in place.

  4. Could be that the server load with the an insane amount of voxels is so large that also logging separate ID's for every item in the game is not done to save the server.

Could also be that NQ wanted a certain amount of high level items to be on a black market basis and have intentionally created the illegal trade avenue with this move.

    just random thoughts.

  5. Lethys, Deintus, I'm not against your viewpoints.  I definitely have no urge to get into any keyboard warrior antics. I see all the same things as you do. Have been gaming on and off since windows 3.1

Just prefer to either sail the boat I am in with my best effort. Or jump out and swim to shore without looking back.

Staying on board just to watch/gloat over the boat sinking seems like a waste of precious time.

Has nothing in the world to do with being poor....

I hadn't played for a couple of weeks, so I decided to log in and check out the markets before I replied.

First, I will say that prices you state on Alioth are 'close enough for our discussion'. But that was for the items that were on market. Hell there wasn't even any basic atmos engines at all. So what does the new player do about that? Wait?? Back to more mining for more money for machines, schematics, containers, etc.

Hey, I get it, you enjoy it, thats fine. I do not want to do a mining grind. When I spend 2-4 hours on a game, I want to feel like I am achieving something. This game doesn't do that for me. It falls into a specific type of game player, voxelmancy and mining. The only players that seem to feel this game offers more are those that were here pre .23

You have to remember you were here in alpha. You have resources, connections, elements long before the .23 drop. You have your position established. Makes a difference.

I have only been playing for 3 months or so.

And I also get it mate, you don't enjoy the game anymore.

So,  please don't take this with any feeling other than I am genuinely asking because I don't understand.... why are you still on this forum ? What are you and a variety of others doing here other than helping to turn away new players with your obvious displeasure at the product they are previewing?

Please tell me more how to actually do this, i am playing since day 1 beta and i am hearing this for months now, I tried to do this from scratch even with no daily quanta as i am bugged. And Guess what, attempt 1 to 7, Fail. It is not possible to do this.

The only thing you Can do is put a STU up, mine the living shit out of you, sell it to a market, buy stuff, try to build something and see that the stuff you bought and the lack of talents, as you put all in mining and cargo, made it so you cannot even escape the planet. So I guess this "a couple of sessions to mine you silly is about a month fullscale mining.

Something is definitely wrong in this aspect of the game, the whole road to space should be manageable without the daily quanta. Especially since there are people who do not get it and are ignored a solution.

But I just took on designer jobs and already designed a few offices, a city, few ships, bridges, hovers, almost everything that goes. Andit is alot more fun then just mindless mining.

Maybe the best advice would be, If you cant do the grind, another profession you must find.

I hear the same thing about how "wonderfully fast and easy" it is for a new player to get warp engines and haul 100s of tons with ease. Until I see a youtube series demonstrating this I will never believe it. The journey I had at DU was nothing like that. The literally at least a hundred posts of other players demonstrate I was not alone in my struggles as well.

Is it possible? Maybe... But the road I see described to get there falls dead under a niche style game that I myself don't care for, nor did I see advertised.

When you throw in the complete lack of communication from the company to the player base, as well as mismanaged and even ignored fixes of basic ... 'mistakes' ... Any good left is quickly trampled out and makes someone like me stand in the line for the spoon with lemon and salt on it like OP.

Plus side.. still huge potential.. and could very well enter a chrysalis and emerge a GOAT yet.

Aaron, please tell me you were not trying mining on Sanctuary? And yes, that is what I was saying mate, you can find another profession that is more interesting if you don't want to mine grind your way to the first few million. If you are not getting your daily quanta then that needs to be fixed. I'm not rich in the game by any means but I would happily front you the money to build a decent hauler. I'll even build one for, tokenize it and you can pay it back after 30 mins of mining on Alioth.

Deintus, Warp engines are a few steps further, but hauling a few hundred tonnes with ease? Sure. Let's see here:

I have priced up a space capable hauler with 128,000L capacity. I have not built this exact model but I'm pretty sure it will have acceptable performance. Based on best current market prices

    Dynamic core S - 6000
    Command seat controller - 5,000
    Atmos fuel tank S x 4 - 10,000
    Space fuel tank S x 2 - 6,000
    Adjustor S x 10 - 2,000
    Space engine S x 4 - 12,000
    Space engine M x 2 - 26,000
    Atmos Engine M x 2 - 30,000
    Atmos Engine L x 2 - 160,000
    Wing M x 6 - 90,000

    Stabalizer S x 2 - 6,000
    Space Brakes M x 3  - <10,000
    Atmos Airbrake M x 5 - 10,000
    Hover Engine M x 5 - 10,000
    Hover Engine L x 4 - 52,000
    Container M x 2 - 80,000
    Container hub - 7,000
    Tier 1 honeycomb 40 cubic meters - 15,000

    total cost -  600,000 quanta

Add in a negligible overhead for a full fuel load. Nitron you can make with surface rocks in your space pants.

Even without doing anything at all other than claiming your log in bonus that is only 4 days 'work'. I think the spec for this build is generous for what it needs.

Let's imagine that this hauler can only carry half the container capacity before crashing is too much of a risk:

64,000L of T1 ore with silly old bots in action again now is an instant income of ~ 1,600,000
You don't even have to wait for someone to buy it...
Mining any random unclaimed hex on Alioth will fill 64,000L within 1 hour or you are doing something wrong.

1.6mil can build you a new hauler with more than double the budget of the first one.

Like GraXXor said. No one has any excuse for being poor in the game right now.

  8. I don't know if I can address all of what displeases you about the game. But I can definitely say that 'only being able to afford crappy engines' is a complete fallacy. Even as a brand new player it should take no more than a couple of decent sessions to mine and earn yourself a reasonable crappy hauler. A few more sessions filling her up should earn you enough to start building a decent 300-400t hauler. Filling her up should only take a couple more sessions and you've got some millions to play with. I know mining is boring, but we cannot expect to start a game like this and be warping around the universe within a few hours.

This is even just as a solo player, starting with the Nq speeder, without even looking for any co-operative gameplay (MMO?) or any other more creative ways to get some funding for your better engines.

Failing that, pay someone a little extra to bring you what you need or hire a taxi service. Damn, find me in game and I'll run you over to whatever planet you need to visit to get you back on your feet.

I will explain why ppl are angry today , using myself as an example:

after 0.23 patch, i had to spend 200 mil quanta on schematics to get my warp cell/warp drive factory running again.

the decided to go for long grind for warp beacon production line:

Schematics/ rare industry units cost me around 450 mil quanta. then managed to accumulate 500 mil towards warp beacon schematic.

Long  painful grind , hours of mining/hauling / market trading sometimes even at a cost of sleep , as I am an adult with real life responsibilities.

1 Billion 150 million quanta ,I have accumulated at a cost of many many hours ,was yesterday  reduced to 11.5 million.  Instead of being one of the few making beacons , i have nothing , when some have it for free.

How can i be happy and understanding?

Umi, I'm sorry this has happened to you. I don't know how to fix it other than NQ gives you billions of quanta for recovery? But I don't think that would make you happy. If a rollback to before the mistake was really the only thing that would keep you playing then I vote for it, even if it would suck to lose a few days gaming. I would start from scratch on everything rather than kick out a person I would love to see enjoying the game.

Having the riches you could have earnt with the warp beacons is not what would keep you playing. It was the goal of achieving it that kept you playing. It was in fact the grind towards an amazingly difficult goal that kept you interested, not the eventual quanta you might have earned now and then.

I would love to help, if there is anything you can think of. I certainly think NQ should pay for their cock up to players in your position.

    Trying to keep it light....

It's all perception. Where you see people being arrogant and demanding their way, I see people angry and trying to give helpful suggestions. Not everyone can keep a calm head during what they perceive is a crisis. I see those who still support the game as is, attacking others just as quick.

So who is right? You or me? ProNQ or AntiNQ? The reality of it is all of us are. We all have points. I think some are missing it tho, and that is the real loss. So may as well let people vent their frustration for future posterity.

I will say that in all my time gaming, I have never personally seen a forum that was so consistently negative about the game the people on the forum were playing.

That alone doesn't mean they are right per se. But it definitely indicates a very deep issue. Maybe we don't agree on what the problem is, but even you have agreed that there is one.

You raise good points and I get them Deintus. Especially my paradox about claiming to keep it light followed by that statement I made.

I would counter point you by saying that 'angry people' do not very often give 'helpful suggestions'. We are both rocking the oxymoron.

I am not PRO or ANTI NQ. I am PRO Dual Universe. And what will keep it open and available are players paying subscriptions. This forum is exactly the opposite of what I would see bringing more players to keep Dual Universe running.

The Self Fulfilling Prophesy. Wanting something to fail because it displeases me, in which case I send out waves of proof that it is failing even before that is the truth. If it then fails, was it the game or was it the people who wanted it to fail?

  10. I'm just trying to keep the mood a bit light. The forum here is so fkin dark all day. It is not representative of the total player base. I see positive interactions every day in the game and people having fun.

But just look down this forum and there are endless threads where players are telling (if not outright demanding) that NQ design the game the way they have figured it all out. It's embarrassing how arrogant the forum shows us to be right now. If I was the developer I would never look here again. Mistakes happen, it is only a game. If someone seriously wants to quit, then go for it. I'm sad to see a player leave and I'm sad that a player ended with a sour taste.

Self fulfilling prophesy. That is all that can be achieved from 90% of what happens on this forum.

NQ, this is just sad. What shall I tell this guy next time I speak with him on Discord?

You could tell him that you know a guy with 112 of them going cheap ?

I like to think my mother raised me well enough not to have impulsions as those.
In fact, if i were in markets at that moment, i would've pinged an NQ Staff on #help immediately.
    Believe it or not.
I could go further and explain my political opinions as well to prove my good faith, but this is unneccessary and outtopic.

I believe that entirely Dreejl. I also think you might understand how getting everything too easily will ruin the game for you. The question is more for everyone to answer to them self privately and honestly.
