Regarding your last sentence, see the first one.

lso, studies and extensive teesting done by game studios  in collboration with experts in behavioral science provide actual data and results, not just opinion and expectation. And the reaearch done shows that reinforcement of achievement and direct signals of progress will in general promote engagement and desire to "stick with it". Maybe that's not true for you and that is fine, for the general public though, it is very much a factor.

There is reasons why studios who take this seriously will generally have a behavioral scientist on the payroll or have ties with institutions which can provide research and result in this regard. While I can see how NQ does not have the resources to have this as part of their process, there is a lot of documentation and information onthe subject they can use.

Jump in the go-back-bus and read my first sentence that you so boldly referenced! "Experts", in any field, are nothing but people paid to apply their opinions. That in no way makes them right. It simply means some moron paid them for their individual take on a given subject.

I posted my feedback on the FTUE -HERE- and feel it is still mostyly relevant

As it is, it feels like an introduction more than a FTUE. It certainly does not set up the player for their journey in game, it just explains a few things and then goes away

Especially adding in the start of training talents in such a way that players see the benefits from that wile still in the FTUE, to mee seems very important. Once you let a player go, the opportunity to drive such things also goes away.

Overall, as mentioned in the post I quoted above, the FTUE is better than the previous but it still feels like it is designed by devs (and based on what they think is important) and not by someone who understands the psyche of a new player very well. I do not meean that to be negative towards the designers but it is IMO why the FTUE really misses the mark in many ways and could/should be more focused around the players perspective and progress whil eon the journey, not around the journey itself.

Everyone has an opinion, and those opinions are almost always guided by that individuals interactions and ability to comprehend their surroundings. That's the case with literally every experience every person has, ever. As far as "training" goes, some people need their hand held to such an insane degree that they need help understanding that they can press 2 buttons on the keyboard at once. Other are nothing but hindered by any semblance of "training" because its so far beyond their general experience that its a complete waste of time and energy. Those recommending more target training are typically those that don't pick things up easily. those that say its easy are on the other side of the spectrum. It doesn't make one right or wrong, it simply insures us all that some are more capable than others.

And most people dont need participation trophies to clarify their success

Personally I don't care to vote because I actually stopped caring what happens with DU some time ago. I'd vote just so I can see the results, call it morbid curiosity.

    Or, you know, suit yourself.

Hilarious that "dont care" but still invest the time in spouting off about posts that mean nothing to you. Thats says a lot about the value of your opinion!!

Having PAID for my sub since the start of Beta under the impression that there wasn't going to be a wipe, based on what you told us. I want my skill points and my BPs. I paid for that stuff.

Excellent point! All of us Alpha and BETA backers paid for things based on a series of promises. The seconds those promises are broken the lawsuits will start. Thats just the start of the pending issue though. What educated potential buyer of the released game would ever care to waste their time investing both financially and in time, into assets acquired in a game over potentially years, when they know there is already a track record of NQ wiping everything people have invested in in the past? Bait and switch much?

Sure, there are things that are logically needed to give new players a fresh start....

Sanc is a wasteland of of forever claimed territories that will never be released, leading to no place for incoming players to "live". So a new planet, if not several, should be a no-brainer. Or redistribution needs to be a thing, and I can see territory scanner being completely disabled for a while as a good way to prevent all of the higher tier ore spots from being swallowed up by already existing hordes of scanners.

I can see a value in a Quanta reset as well. There are certainly ways to get around that, but there are equally ways to stop mass investing to circumvent a pending loss. Make a daily spending limit of 1mill per player and stop all player to player funds transfers. Simple and effective!

Of course a planet rest will be needed for all of the terrain changes that are pending. We have been through a few of those in the past and, from the player perspective, they were hardly the end of the world. Annoying, absolutely. But along with a terrain reset should/could come with a territory reset to give everyone a chance to re-spread out across the skies. Magic BPs for the win!

Any thought of a talent reset is absurdly ignorant though! This is one of the key benefits we as early supporters made our early supported decisions on! Wiping out 1.5 years of investment is nothing but a slap in the face to those that made it possible for NQ to have a product to sell! Lets not even get in to the fact that this BS has already happened once before!!

Taking away BPs is another that fits in-line almost completely with talent points. All of the work of thousands of people over tens of thousands of hours being completely erased nothing short of digital genocide, plain and simple!

And then there is the thought outside the wipe of now removing schematics. Yes, the way schematics were introduced was stupid and terribly damaging to the community. Its not at all that schematics in and of themselves are bad. It was the intense financial burden that was dropping in our laps with no way to generate funds. The same issue is going to again chase off players the second the power systems are introduced months after release. Again, not at all a bad mechanic, but stupid to introduce in such a damaging way to literally everything that goes on in the game.

    Remove the sign-in requirement.,

If you're afraid of being connected to your vote then might want to think about what the real issue is! I you truly believe in something you wouldn't be afraid to stand behind it!

  6. Thinking that release would come with NO wipe of any kind is ignorant at best. But there are far too many simple solutions to resolve almost all issues that were brought up

Quanta imbalance - Yes, there have been some people that took advantage of the mission system to amass "great wealth". But thats hardly wrong. Thats what makes an open economy work! Some people are supposed to be rich, while others will remain poor. Everyone in the middle forms the backbone of the games economy.

Schematics - The way they were introduced wasn't very well thought out. But end result more clearly defined a relatively static value to literally everything. It is abundantly clear that the economy is more richly diverse than it ever was pre-schematic. Removing them is a mistake! But if they are stupid enough to remove them then the path is simple... refund every sale of a schematic thats happened since the introduction of schematics

Planets being "unpolished" - We have dealt with this half a dozen times through the life of DU. A planet reset isnt hard to do.. its going to happen with a full wipe too, so why pretend its something magic? Perform your voxel reset and ore redistribution. Return all constructs to their owners that have a miner on them as magic BPs and move on. It shouldnt be terribly complicated to have any underground constructs auto dig themselves out too.

Just because you can attack people in the pvp zone doesn’t mean you should in all cases. Just because I can gouge players on the markets doesn’t mean I should. If you stop and think for a second what the impact of your actions are on other players it should become obvious that some actions are detrimental to the health of the game and community. If we truly want the game and community to grow perhaps we should aim to create a healthy and vibrant community that new players are drawn to. Harassing other players and being childish, anti-social, or borderline sadistic because the game mechanics allow this to happen doesn’t make it okay. Even if it has become normalized.

Think about the long term effects of how you play the game and ask yourself: what if every player behaved the same way that I do? What kind of game would that be? And if the result is a healthy and positive experience then perhaps it’s a good way to play the game.

If you look at all of that from the complete opposite side of the spectrum though you will see how much is added to the game, the community, and the overall feel. The real issue in the thought youre attempting to induce is this... the world isnt all cushy and pathetic. But somehow everyone on the planet manages to exists from day to day, while going to sleep at night in the same overall condition they woke up in. That because in reality we are smart enough to adjust our actions to appropriately survive along side everyone else, in one manner or another.

DU should be no different. The vast majority of people would walk through the ghetto with hundred dollar bills poking out all over the place to be seen. Many more WOULDNT have a problem if all that money was secured/hidden. Even more would feel little stress if they too had armed protection. All that SHOULD be common sense! Unfortunately, too many fools left that bundle of brain cells on the vaginal wall on departure. Their only solution then is to throw a tantrum because they weren't smart enough to ensure all those big bills are out for the world to see! The intelligent action would to no venture into the unknown, unsafe, reaches of space without an intelligent degree of protection. Each person has to make the decision of what that level might look like. But at the end of the day, the results of the mission are very heavily dependent on the quality of those decisions.

At the same time, new people would probably benefit from far better guidance. But at the end of the day, this is a PVP game with a sliver cut out for newbs in the form of a safe zone. Don't want to risk death, don't make a stupid decision by hanging your worth out for the taking.

My issue is with the BS way NQ deals with things....
People get banned for killing people in PVP space. Thats nothing but ignorance at its most pure
People being allowed to render the game unplayable through the deployment of any of the dozens of CPU murdering exploits, but banning the guy that was the target for returning the favor.

Its all a bunch of childish BS

... that game is nothing like DU or the tech behind it in any way, starting with scale.

You are absolutely correct. That game actually runs properly. But.. they are vastly behind in the permissions realm, and thusly, not yet having to deal with the intense database issues. The key that makes it run 10 times better is their intelligent use of localized instancing in oh-so-many situations. But, their net-code issues are quite similar to that DU is suffering from.

  9. The database has been the ultimate achilleas heal of the game, and its good to see that its finally a target for some (hopefully) quality attention! But... DU in general has generally followed a great path of NOT concentrating on performance passes until large chunks of content additions are complete. Most companies epically fail with their development process of... add content, add content , add content, performance pass... It leads to all of those performance passes being complete wastes of time. People that cry about performance in an Alpha or even Beta game are simply ignorant to logical work flow, just like dev studios catering to them are destine to fail in the long run

Long story short... keep up the good work! Just communicate better with those supporting you!

....but because many PvPers act like children. The level of hypocrisy here is just mind-numbingly stupid

elementary-school name calling and casual bigotry isn't PvP.

Speaking of hypocrisy!!! This is why you clearly don't have the skills to comprehend literally ANYTHING going on in DU! And the only thing even remotely "homophobic" was that you mentioned the term!

  11. So many tears, so little time! Its absolutely mind boggling that all of this childish crying is going on!

    Welcome to god damn PVP!!

So first... this pathetic little costume party
    - Get some real skills and design a ship! And buffoon can copy crap someone else made already!
    - Get some skills! Don't enter into a PVP event or territory only to throw a tantrum that PVP HAPPENES!
    - If you REALLY gave a damn about playing the part then you fools would have abandoned your ships the second they were shot the first time (because thats how pathetic Star Wars ships performed), abandoned the core, and force respawned back in mommies basement!

    And most importantly...
    - Welcome to god damn PVP!! Don't like it, stay the hell out!

I totally disagree with the thought that there should be allowed a way for players to "create" safe zones for events. Its glaringly clear that something like that would result in nothing but abuse and exploitation. Don't want to get spanked... stay the hell out of the cookie jar!

Does anyone have a video of it happening?

Of course there isn't, because its not actually happening to anyone unless they don't pay attention. A video would show that to be the case. Though next we will see someone suicide impact to "prove its real".... with a ship with little to no brakes so it APPEARS they are trying to slow but actually couldn't stop if their life actually DID depend on it!

  13. All this pathetic talk about Eve... if you want to play Eve so bad then go away and play Eve. No one will miss you! This is, for the record, Dual Universe. Just in case some of you haven't figured it out.

As for a solution.... learn to pay attention? If you're ignorant enough to fly somewhere and not look where you're going then you deserve to loose your ship. Funny.... its just like driving a car! YOU hit something, its YOUR fault! Take responsibility for YOUR actions! Then learn from YOUR mistakes, or potentially the mistakes of others coming here crying about making said mistake, and don't blindly fly... anywhere!
