  1. By the time you reach 10-12 members i think the Consortium might have a few hundred conscripts. PS - Our Employee's and definitely not robots that we are mass producing. Good day Ma'am!
  2. Welcome to the community. If you need a group to join so you can twiddle your thumbs in unison with us while waiting for DU to come out then look up my group the Morrigan Consortium and see if my humble group meets your tastes.
  3. Welcome! Should you need a group to join (One that focuses on Star ship design and construction along with mining for resources.) Then the Morrigan Consortium all ways welcomes new members should you decide to grace us with you presence!
  4. Welcome to this wonderful community. We all eagerly await the day DU comes out.
  5. Considering there will be programming in game it could be entirely possible to make a robot.
  6. Don't listen to others who say there is no need for class's, there definitely will be. Now let me explain the classes for those ignorant fellows, Each class has a name of course because that class performs a certain role, Battleships are obvious because they have large caliber guns and with heavy armor they soak up damage like a sponge, Destroyers.... I think the name speaks for it self, Frigates and corvettes are both small classes but due to their small size and weight they will be much faster than other classes so great patrol vessels or convoy escorts, Carriers of course carry your fighters and bombers because i doubt you'd be able to fit many on a battleship, Dreadnought now this is just a battleship on steroids and the name means Fearless, cruisers are bigger than a destroyer but smaller than a battleship and are there for the purpose of either convoy escort duty or to support the much larger capital ships. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses along with its own uses in warfare and for organisations sake they put those ships into classes so people do not get confused.
  7. An Oort cloud is essentially a very big Asteroid and comet belt (Well not a belt but very big none the less) And if you go up and look at the pic of the Oort cloud compare the size of the cloud to the sun, that is a lot of materials, a lot more than what would be available on a planet, and it would be quite easy to hide in the Oort cloud so can hide there to avoid bigger groups who may or may not want to tax every one for taking resources off of planets they have claimed. I Personally believe that Oort cloud mining would be a great idea and provide a very large source of materials for those who are not lazy and can be bothered to travel, especially if you plan to build a very large ship in secret, Why do it on a planet in plain sight? Do it in the Oort cloud with an abundance of materials next to you and great cover from the inner solar system.
  8. I'm here wondering what weapon systems for ships will be available in game? I have a few idea's and I'll discuss their uses but I do not know if these kinds of weapons will be in the final game these ideas are my own theories. Plasma Weaponry - Now if your an Avid Sci-Fi reader like my self you'll know Plasma is a popular idea, Although in space i wouldn't say it is, Plasma is let's say essentially super heated Gas and Space is a Vacuum, no air and very very cold so over distance the Plasma is going to lose heat and disperse which will at best make it only a decent short range weapon, and in space you want long range weapons so Plasma weaponry on a ship i think would be best for just Point Defense, in fact it'd be great as an Infantry weapon as well. Missiles - A classic piece of weaponry which could have many different types and uses, you could have your usual explosive ones to destroy targets or you could have ECM ones to confuse the enemy scanners and make them think you have more missiles than you launched, In fact you could have a load of very small missiles used for point defense purposes taking down large enemy missiles. Lasers - Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, this is what Laser stands for so it is essentially concentrated light to form a very hot beam (How many of us have gotten a Magnifying glass on a sunny day and murdered thousands of bugs?) And it has an effect on Earth but what would it be like in space with no Atmosphere to block most of the Radiation and refract the sun light? Why you'd get a 100% certified death beam and since Light travels very fast you have a great Point defense system and if the enemy don't have some strong ceramic armor then Lasers would be devastating in ship to ship combat. Rail guns - A classic weapon, compared to the others listed so far its simple and easy and if enemy ships do have ceramic armor to prevent lasers then Missiles and Rail guns are the way to go, the great thing is once the rail gun round reaches top speed it's not going to stop until it hits some thing, so i guess Rail gun's are simple but what about their Rounds? Why you could stuff explosives in the middle of one so once it pierces enemy armor it explodes inside doing untold damage! (Essentially a Smart round.) Mass Driver - A cousin of the Rail gun, this could be used to launch very large objects at an enemy ship. Now i did this post on a whim and there may be more weapons that i did not mention (Torpedo's, but no idea how these would work in space?) if you can think of some just leave a post!

  10. Yeah but in the Oort cloud they can be found in bulk quantities, it could enrich an economy as well because it allows for more jobs.
  11. Carbon and Silicon of course, Carbon fiber is a strong material and who know's what kind of light metals could be found out there.
  12. The biggest question i have is. Will we be able to mine Oort clouds and in fact will there be Oort clouds at all within a game?
  13. Ah i messaged him on this website. Silly me. I hope it works though.
  14. Who and how would i contact them? Would i contact them on this website then if so how?
  15. Oh i am going to write what i feel best but this book will be for entertainment and passing time as most Sci-fi books are for, So i'm getting the opinion of potential readers to lay the foundations if you will, Then with my own ideas (Hopefully try not to murder the book.) build up the story and thus make a hopefully decent read.
  16. Hello every one, I plan on publishing an E-book on Amazon But i need your help guys to decide what genre it will be and when it will be based, As the Ark ship lands and after it? a Thousand years after it when billions of humans populate the stars with different governments with a saucy galactic war between different governments? Also if any of you would like to suggest what the Book could be about then just simply reply below. Oh by the way if any one is good with digital work if some one could make me a cover once the Genre and all that is decided then that would be nice. Am i a very lazy author for asking all you guys this instead of thinking it up my self? Yes and no. It takes a long time for a book to go from planning to being published due to the Authors taking a lot of time to brain storm every thing that goes on it the book, By asking you guys all this i could potentially get it published much faster, not only this but Dual Universe is a Sci-Fi game with a lot of Sci-Fi fans playing this and since my book is going to be a Sci-Fi one why not get the opinions of potential readers? Because what i think makes a good book might not actually make a good book because every one has opinions right?

  18. A spaceship graveyard on a planet would be a cool idea with giant Kilometer long ships to small fighters, People will wonder what went on. Was there a space battle?
  19. The Morrigan Consortium - What are we? We are an Organisation of like minded creative individuals such as scientists, engineers who believe the future lies in technological advancement. What is our focus? Our initial focus is mining for resources and to design functional and advanced star ships of all types, both military and civilian but our long term focus is Technological advancement of the human race. Is the Morrigan Consortium a Civilian or Military organisation? We are mainly a Civilian company but we do have a Militaristic side. I heard your factions wishes to stay neutral is it true? Yes and no, there's an emphasis on 'wishes' but we will stick by any and all allies we may have should they be attacked or declared war on. But considering we also design Warships we will need a way to test them in combat, We will not aggravate others to start a war though. Whats the ranking system within the Consortium like? Considering we have two sections within the Consortium (Military and Civilian) we have two different rank structures but they both report to the Consortium Head. Miner / Executives { / \ Consortium Head { Designers --> Engineers \ Rear Admiral --> Commodore --> Captain --> Lieutenant --> Crewmen I know that the Consortium Head is the leader but who is the current head? The Current Consortium Head is Charles Augustus. Who are your allies? Currently we are a member of the Coalition of Pirates and Smugglers. (COPS) Why would i join the Morrigan Consortium? If you like designing ships or even building them we do a lot of that so that's a good reason why. We also do a bit of mining for players who are interested in gathering resources, the lifeblood in this new age.
  20. Thanks for the heads up about the spam, I've changed the font size and edited the back story a tiny bit.
  21. "The birth place of humanity lies in chaos. Riots run rampant, Panic and fear latch on to the hearts of most of Earths citizens. Death comes our way in the form of a Neutron star and nothing we have can stop it. What can we do? Nothing except escape which is what we'll do. Millennia must i wait now to achieve my dream, to design and build star ships that will travel to galaxies unknown, star ships that will last a billion years before they finally crumble to dust. Now, i wait." - Charles Augustus The Morrigan Consortium was founded by Charles Augustus after the Ark Landing for creative and like minded Scientists and Engineers in the Ark program gather and share their knowledge, Yes it is not as old or well known as some other corporations such as SilverLight Industries but that doesn't matter, what matters is that in the new Colonies and Civilizations there will be a large market for star ships, from ones capable of waging war to Luxury Passenger liners no matter the type there will be a large profit in the star ship production business and the Morrigan Consortium was founded to exploit this and to advance humanity even further pooling all profits towards research.
