  1. GPS tags. Radio tags. Signboards. - Yes, in the game you can set coordinates for a hex, but this is not always enough. Imagine a player has found a mine (mine). He needs to mark it on the map and on the HUD helmet in order to quickly return to it. “But this will greatly simplify the mining of the ore. In order not to upset the balance - the player must connect to his own or corporate satellites in orbit. Without satellites, there is no more detailed signal (only a general one, provided by civilization, if terraformation has begun on the planet). - You can "sell" a signal from your own or a corporate satellite and get paid for it. Corporate satellites are more accurate than personal satellites. But in worlds with a protected zone, players cannot place their companions, only in pvp zones (so that the player at the start cannot use the services of satellites). - You can put a password on the satellite. The password is sent to the buyer after payment. - Mobile satellite dish. Can be placed on the base, as well as on transport. What is he doing? It improves the accuracy of GPS recognition of objects that are nearby. But it is expensive to build. * - Thus, the player at the start will not have the advantage of placing a GPS tag on the ore vein. Only if he flies into the pvp world, builds his own satellite in orbit, or accumulates money and connects to other satellites - only then he will be able to put GPS tags. And thus the balance will be maintained. Radio tags. - Unlike GPS marks, they show coordinates only in horizontal planes. If there is a hill or mountain with ore deposits between the player and the mark, the signal is "extinguished". - To use radio tags, you need to learn a few skills. - The radio tag cannot be placed "virtually". Each tag needs a transmitter, which must be set up and pushed into the ground. - Improving the skill of the Radio Engineer will allow you to work with a large number of tags at the same time, and more accurately recognize their signal in the distance (estimated distance. Initially, a large error). - The mark has a limited radius of action (with the help of a skill it can be increased). But it is best to install it on a hill so that the signal is the best. - You can also build an "Antenna Hub". What she does? It connects the radio points to each other. She has a large coverage area. But if a player leaves this zone, he does not receive its benefits. Plus, the antenna itself is very large, it is built vertically (this is a building), and requires a lot of resources to build. (if in the future a radio communication is made between the players via a walkie-talkie, then this building can be used to amplify a personal signal - as an additional option). - You can only engage in radio communication in pvp worlds. - Radio tags are more accessible (than orbital satellites), but not as convenient. - Radio scanner (this is a tool). You need to hold it in your hands to see radio tags in the HUD. Signboards. - You can install a sign (board with support). Write something on the board. - What are the signs for? Place them next to the veins (deposits). - Plates are worse than GPS and radio communication. they are hard to see, which means that only by approaching close to the entrance to the deposit, you can find this deposit by the plate. - Signs can even be placed in protected worlds. - A radio tag, like a GPS tag, can be assigned a unique name and share coordinates with others. - If weather is introduced in the future, it will affect radio communications and GPS. - If in the future worlds are planned that have not even received terraformers, then it will be impossible to find out the coordinates of your location on the planet without satellites. - The tag can be deleted permanently at any time.
  2. Hello everyone, I'm Quite new to these forums and to Dual Universe but have been learning a lot over the last few weeks. I hope I put this in the right are as well.. I'm curious to see if someone is considering/ ever thought about doing a news style radio station for DU. Ive seen the radio station posts on here about playing music and having DJ's for all of us on here, but no one is talking about doing information/news broadcast's. soon after the game launches, maybe a week to a month, there will most likely be major factions/empires/federations etc.. and it would be nice for the little guys out there to get an update on whats going on in the universe/world that your on. I imagined segments on markets, current price on goods/where to get good prices, local issues with government's, and of course ad's for jobs, or recruitment for federations and such. Again very new to a lot of this so just throwing an idea out there, I would like to possibly work with someone on this if they would like to try to take this on as well. I just want to see as much immersion as possible with this game.
  3. Hello, my name is NRSchertz, from SilverLight Industries. A few of us members have started a radio channel. The whole thing is in it's infancy, but we are working hard to make it better and better. Today marks the first of many communications achievements from SLI! Please, check out the website here! http://silverlightradio.dx.am/ Again, the site is in a very new stage, and the current layout is a placeholder for a new design. Thank you for your patience! Expect a message at 12:00 PM EST on Monday, 12/4/17 on Silver Light Radio, by the way!
  4. Silver Light Radio will be offline for a day to a week, due to extensive updates being done. The finished project will look way better than the current state of SLR's website. If everything goes as planned, live radio shows will be started as well. I will be keeping everyone updated on the project. Sorry for the inconvenience!
  5. This is Elector Cale Lets say you start a intergalactic war or there is one currently going on. Whos gana know? With a radio type system where players can host their own news stations or etc for players to listen or read from would be better than there being a intergalactic war going on and only having generals or close friends know about it. Surly a global chat will not be pleasent and surly not be seen with the amount of players on. Even holograms for a type of system for a player to be in game recorded or upload a file to be broadcasted within dual universe. The point is dev posts to tell players everything isnt enough. Let them have choices who they can listen read or watch from! Or simply not listen at all if they choose. Imagine empires being able to have news boards or just classic radio channels to browse through in their space ship or home or base wherever they are. Having New York looking screens hanging around showing news or propaganda from its empire, nation, or republic! If you like this idea for anyone who wants to read on more of our ideas or works or just simply looking for a org find The Opean Federation or find us here at https://discord.gg/R73NPb6
  6. Wikipedia site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direction_finding Assuming that there will be some sort of transmission system to send data packets from construct to construct, locating these transmissions is an absolute must to have feature if EWAR is going to be a thing in the game. Not only can it be used to find out which radar signature sent which message (important in traffic management systems) but it can also be used to locate and destroy ships if they use their transmission systems too much. I'm aware that radars are being planned to the game, but I don't know what these radars are supposed to find. Do they locate voxels (of which there are way too many)? DPUs? Antennas? What I'm asking for is kind of a radar that can locate transmitting antennas but only gives the direction to them (possibly also the strength of the signal) and not the actual position. However, the range of such a radar would be way higher than that of normal position finding radars if the transmission is strong enough. EDIT: I was a bit unclear here. I mentioned EWAR first, but since D-Scans and such will most likely be a thing in DU, the most important use case of RDF would be to combine signal contents with its direction for advanced logics, such as in the traffic management system case. In other words, I'd like to replicate this in the game: https://en.wikipedia...veillance_radar
  7. Radio frequency channels should be a thing for walkie-talkies, personal radios and ships to get information to your group, and should be set using something like a 4 digit code, so you can just set your group's radio sets to the same code and be able to communicate across distances depending on how much power goes into your radio broadcaster. There could also be radio jammers (force your code to all zeroes and just have that channel always be static) or able to force it onto whatever channel you wanted within a certain distance so that incoming ships or lone explorers can communicate with your tower before they get gunned down by a corporation/nation.
  8. I have been thinking about a way to do communication without teamspeak and thought about a number of ways to do it, some ways would be via voice and chat channely deicated to local area, groups, factions, global (system), galaxy/universe wide the second way would be allowing you to create completly custom chatrooms both for typing and voice chat (like teampspeak where you can create extra rooms on a server another possibility would be a basic chat completly used via chat commands (minecraft chat/stellaris chat) the last and in my opinion best way would be to do it like the "acre" (advance combar radio enviorment) mod for arma, creating a itam that allows you to join specific frequencies and even using speciall encoding procedures to avoid being spied on, this would allow for a great diversity of gameplay from factions using multiple frequencies to have a strictly organised comm system, for example group a has 2 comm officers a and b, a is responsible for commands from the higher ups and relaying them to the group leader, b responsible for leading orders further down the command chain. Or a radio station opening on a frequencie broadcasting news and playing music all COMPLETELY player driven. Basic functions of acre demonstrated: wow ingore this while i edit it
