  1. That looks neat.. unfortunately it'll all be gone once Demeter drops, yes..
  2. That is fair enough as far as the duration is concerned.. otherwise it's not that relevant
  3. I'd say that Demeter AS NQ CURRENTLY PLANS TO ROLL IT OUT is not a good idea. It is basically a repeat of the 0.23 debacle and this time it's worse because NQ got pretty solid advance notice of the fallout that's coming if they just shove the patch out the door. WHich they will no doubt just do anyway.. as you know.. once bitten, twice shy..
  4. Agreed We are not getting any tools. NQ wil press a button which removes planetary voxel material from the build area of the core we made our base with.. there is no "tool". all the button NQ presses does is take a cubic chunk out of the planet.
  5. Ehh. this comment makes absolutely zero sense. I certainly did not say anything to justify it nor have I ever. Anything you may have taken that way is entirely on you as I have no idea what would possible bring this on.
  6. I respectfully disagree that voicing genuine and justified frustration with how NQ handles the development of the game as "stinking up the place" I do agree that some, in their understandable frustration, may take it a notch too far but that does not reduce the validity of their frustration in any way, it does merit a suggestion to cool the jets a bit.
  7. You are looking at this the wrong way though. Previously, if you emptied out a tile you needed to find another. Now, once you find a tile with ore you need, you have found an INFINITE supply of this ore without ever needing to look elsewhere. This simple fact will change the entire foundation of the game and open up a good number of potential loopholes unless NQ really do their homework which so far they seem to not even realize they will need to do. For one, it will become trivial to obtain unlimited amounts of T1-T3 ores very easily within the Alioth/Madis/Thades safe zone. This by itself will mostly limit the game to this area as the majority of the left playerbase is there, need no T4 or T5 ore and so has no need anymore to leave the safezone.. ever.. In the process Asteroid mining becomes irrelevant for his same group of players as well. So it's not that the calculatoin is wrong, it's that you do not grasp the consequence of this, but you may now.
  8. What the results of the GEO reset will be is mostly cubic holes cut out of the landscape in many places. Taking this opportunity and doing a clean wipe with blueprints returned and talent points back in the pool would have been much better for this patch. Frankly it was quite clear from the VLOG this was part of the discussion internally but I guess NQ did not have the balls to pull the trigger on that one which is a real shame and this may have been the best opportunity for them to do it, with I expect much that would potentially justify that call going to be pushed beyond "release".
  9. I know for a fact (as I was told by Shadow staff) that NQ would have had access to not only free resources regarding Shadow PC but also woudl have been given access with priority and with the support of the Shadow team had they asked for it, something they never did. Coupled with the given Shadow is a French company and owned by the same company they use for at least some of their hosting (possibly their PTS servers) .. well... you get where this is going..
  10. From your perspective as laid out I guess you could argue the way you do. It is just that though, your perspective. And I do understand why you'd argue this way. There is enough benefit to be gained from orgs having unlimited access to the main ore, all (or most) of which can be found in the permanent safe zone if these HQ tiles are not implemented with limitations in this regard. Especially when you consider that from Demeter ore supply is indefinite so once claimed, the tile guarantees a limitless supply of ore, only to be paid for if and when needed without risk of losing ownership. In addition, org infrastructure can now be places and used, including renting out space, at no or limited cost while orgs can occupy and use massive numbers of tiles, be it in one place or several.
  11. Both the tax system and the HQ tile idea really are not bad as a mechanic, but as per the usual, NQ is rushing this, not taking time to consider options, get actual feedback and consider that, theitterate and come out with refined ideas. It's almost literally throwing stuff at the wall in the hopees something will stick. The whole HQ tile idea as it seems to be now has many problems by itself and is prone to abuse in so many ways but yes, introducting Demeter without them is probably even worse, but this is all stop gap "slap a band-aid on and hope the bleeding stops" while NQ is already onto the patch following Demeter internally I am pretty sure and this has no focus at all for them. And so, the mountain of technical debt keeps getting higher and higher.
  12. So @NQ-Deckard posted something on Discord which really makes this situation worse This post seems to indicate that his comments are placed out of turn, without proper knowledge of the facts and the actusal situation is still ill cvonceived and actually makes the problem worse. Facts as we know them, Ore is now infinite Players get access to "HQ tiles" HQ tiles are different in that you wil not lose ownership when you do not pay taxes but they will mak ethe tile go inactive in that case So, imagine this scenario: An org with 25 members.. This org can agree that the HQ tile(s) for the individual members will have full access set for the org and gains control of what happens on the tile The incentive for this would be the org pays (part of) the tax The org can now gain access to any ore in unlimited quantity Taxes are paid depending on whether the ore on the tile is needed or not and the org can cycle tiles in and out as needed The org will be able to claim a massive area and opt to not pay taxes where the do not need mining or industry running but have structures I could easily keep going with this but you get the idea, and I do not htink these are far fetched or unreasonable expecations of how this will play out. Short term thinking in a long term strategy game like a sandbox MMO will not end well, NQ has had this happen to them numerous times over the past few years and it seems they have not learnt much, if anything along the way. It's all just rushed ideas and solution without much thought or consideration for the fall out. this only leads to more of the same.. Going to a live service game long before the game is ready probably was the biggest mistake they have made besides a severe lack of engagement and communication in general and it keeps showing.
  13. This does not solve the potential abuse of these tiles by orgs if they get full acceess to them to build and gain free space for their constructs and activities. This comoment makees it even worse as orgs can now pick and choose where to pay taxes depending on what resrouces they need while never running the risk of losing access to these resources as the claim never is lost. It's just the usual NQ backpeddaling caused by ill conceived ideas and not thinking longterm. There is no sign of them having any plans or structure to the progress, still making stuff up as they go and making bad ideas worse as they go because of it. The bolt-on and duct tape strategy NQ seems to use causes the game to become more messy at each turn with less of a chance to go back and fix these things properly as times goes by.
  14. I get what you are saying and have some questions of my own for sure about part of your comments, but can we keep the personal jabs out of this as it's reallyy not productive and really crosses a line.. Other than that yes, the last VLOG certainly seems to indicate that, contrary what was said on the first one, scans really have no value anymore and with ore now being infinite, existing scans should be removed alltogether.
  15. @realMod The issue here though is that this is NQ's problem, not Nvidia's.. NQ can try and spin this as "a driver issue" all they want, seeing how this affects .. well.. pretty much only DU from the looks of it, it certainly is on NQ to fix. ANd as I can coonfirm that the game runs just fine on either a 3080 or a 3090 equiped PV with latest drivers installed, that woudl be a rather strong indication that the issue here is not driver related at all.. As I mentioned, my guess here is that IF it is actually a technical issue and not something else entirely, it is caused by DU not playing nice in a VM environment, just like NQ broke DU running on Shadoe PC with the first patch of this year. Playing games from a streaming platform is perfectly viable, I have absolutely no issues running any of my games through Steam on ShadowPC. The only game having problems is DU ..
  16. NQ ignored the Shadow PC userbase and they will ignore the GFN userbase in this case too. I kind of expect they told themselves this is for Nvidia to solve so we do not have to touch this and wil lplay the blame game that way when it comes down to it. They will push any work they need to do for GFN, if they can fix it, until after Demeter is launched sometime in the next two weeks.
  17. Asteroids are designed to provide pewpew content. Their purpose in the safezones is pretty much non existent anyway, especially now that ore availability on planets is infinite and players can just sit on a tile, pulling in the ore they need ()the bot programmers will be so happy about that one.. eveen less effort needed). Demeter will make asteroids pretty much irrelevant.
  18. It's just astonishing to me NQ so far have not ever even tried to engage their most prolific and available resource in helping them get the game in a better place. And ATV nor MC really have brought anything to the table. Not because they were not willing (certainly in the case of ATV) or able but mostly because at best NQ used either as a soundboard on their ideas while not really caring much for the feedback unless it fit their own direction/ideas. I spent some time going back in the "Idea Box" section of this forum and there are some amazing and very unique suggestions/ideas there, none of which ever saw any engagement or interest even from NQ. Knowing what was discussed in closed Alpha, all I can say this pattern goes back years. Players offer help, give creative and useful ideas, some of which should really not have been very difficult to implement, but not once did NQ action any of it or engage in a discussion around these ideas. Du could have been a _much_ deeper and better game by now, but I guess we just "do not understand". I expect NQ will rush in Demeter either this Thursday or the next with little or no changes from the PTS. They will explain the fallout away with "This was just the first implementation, and we will refine and adjust as we go", while they have had the feedback and suggestion to do just that for weeks and ignored it. Internally they are probably already mostly focussed on the patch after Demeter anyway. The fact the initial Demeter referenced VLOG was recorded before Ares released, which kind of supports that idea. NQ _could_ have engaged a group of player then with their initial ideas, made changes based off of that even before going to the initial patch and follow through on the next PTS session to have a far more balanced patch ready for release.. But hey, what do I know..
  19. Another cost cutting operation which IMO is counterproductive to progressing.. 6 month internships in rather key positions fo ractually development work. https://www.welcometothejungle.com/en/companies/novaquark/jobs Interesting bit is these are 23 days old and still open .. I guess NQ's reputation precedes them as in a high profile region like Monteal, the low quality positions/openings are well known. Getting interns on board for cheap for 6 months can't be a productive means to progress your game. Also seems the project manager they hired in Paris a few months ago already left again and a new posting posting has been up for a few days now.
  20. What NQ is entirely overlooking, and what really justifies a full reset of TP is that players may have mining characters which need to RETAIN their mining talents for asteropids while ALSO moving some talents around to add mining unit talents. I really do not unerstand how they have not considered that at all it seems.
  21. I certainly agree that with Demeter existing scans need to be removed as they really have no value anymore anyway/
  22. OP basically want to turn DU into Sim City it seems I feel he massively overcomplicates things which really is not needed. That said though, there is some merit in the idea. A TU could be designed so that you can allocate taxes paid into several sections, on a claimed tile you can do anything the tile provides for but by allocating more funding in he TU to mining, you gain some buffs in that activity while others like Industry or construction might operate at more nominal levels. Much simpler system which achieves mostly the same result. And yes, I share the preference for a special TU for "free of tax" tiles as I explained in THIS post.
  23. I think OP is not realizing a lot of the frustration and anger come from an appreciation and love for the game as well as a desire to see it succeed. While all the points raised by OP can't really be argued, there is lot that he either does not care for or does not realize/see , which will/would impact what he likes about he game in the long run. There certainly is a lot to like about DU and about some of it's traits, but for many, especially the apparent lack of attention for community input and/or engagement with the community drive much of the frustration. Most of the frustration is not with the game, it's with NQ
