  1. Also, you can bet that next up is the removal of bots buying T1 ore as IF those calculations are correct, the bots woudl pretty much eat all the ore and people building will just farm with autominers outsid eof the market entirely. So yes, the game economy will crash regardless. Not that markets are al lthat functional to begin with.. most who are stil lin game just keep everything in house and havetheir own in org economy, they do not need to use markets even but to maybe dump their surplus. Also, maintinaing efficiency on a 20 tile farm wil be a dayjob, something amny here do not hae time or desire for. This is a game, not a job, or at least it should be.
  2. I'm sorry @Zarcata, but your comment seems to indicate you just went of on a rant becaue you read the word EVE and have not actually understood the topic being discussed. Your reponse has absolutely zero relevance to the topic at hand. Also, it is both obvious and confirmed by NQ that much of what is seen in DU is directly "inspired" by EVE. They even went as far to say they were going to take what EVE does to the next level.. well.. we know where that ended up.. There never was a vote on safe zones at all, Initially it was just an area around the ARK ship, then around the markets on Alioth, then came Sanctuary and finally the massive blob around Alioth/Thades/Madis. But as you only joined a year ago, you may possibly not know any of that. NQ seemingly decided that the needed to protect some players who were rather upset and vocal about the possibility of having to deal with combat and lose their stuff or have it taken/destroyed (after they joined a game where that was always the intention). Part of that now seems to also be because they never really knew how or when they would get around to trying to figure out planet side combat.
  3. That sounds like NQ has now resorted to duct tape to keep the game somewhat functional ..
  4. Newsflash.. Pann joined well after all of this was decided on.. DU has always been "inspired" by EVE and it was always going to be that, outside of Sanctuary, you would lose ownership if you did not provide upkeep for territory. This fact was discussed as far back as the first talk of teritory during alpha and as I recall even before that. So this is not new, and IMO the mechanic itself is fine. It's the way NQ goes about implementing stuff like this which is the problem, just like it was with schematics. NQ looks at EVE from a top level/player perspective and seems to "reverse engineer" mechanics to only the first layer. They do not seem to consider the underlying/connected mechnics that feed into something which actually make it work at all.
  5. I just gave my opinion on the subject you posted on, I even said I liked your post. It's not a review, it's called a response, it's what people do on public forums. If your intent was to name drop and basically just brag about being "besties" with an NQ employee then I guess you got caught red handed and I'm sorry to say and to burst your bubble, Pann is more likely just "working" in your stream chat, it's not personal, nor is it "because it's you". She does the same in other streams because that is actually part of her job, you are not special (to her) in this. I never mentioned the word ignorance in my response, IMO trying to put the use of "expensive" away as just dev speak and not relating to the financial situation of NQ IMO is a cheap shot and not accurate at all to what was said. Pann is really good at what she does in trying to moderate and downplay sentiments, nothing wrong with that and it is part of why she is in the role she is in. Problem here is that there is many who understand that and see right thourgh it as we're experienced and well aware of these PR/CM tricks as we use them ourselves.. She is certainly firefighting in this instance, and to be fair, in her position she should be expected to so, no disrespect to her at all there..
  6. I get that @Physics My point is that (IMO) the TU was meant to be a tool to claim land and build your (community) infrastructure there, more than a tool to be able to mine by itself. It really became only the latter as not much else happens anymore in game. Day 1 of pre beta after the wipe, the exploit with wrecks causes many to warp out within an hour and scan for/claim tiles all over the place with high tier ore for later use. That was never intended but NQ never fixed that (and things snowballed from there).
  7. Still I really feel that eventually losing ownership is not a bad idea at all. It's how NQ's great example EVE does it too.. You do not fuel your station .. it goes into low power mode. You still do nothing? It will be vulnerable to attack. Obviously EVE has a wel designed and implemented way of going about it wil many possible routes to keep maintenance up, but still.. This is nothing new and certainly shoudl not be unexpected. TU upkeep has _always_ been in the books to arrive sooner or later. NQ has always said the only place your stuff is really safe is on Sanctuary. The problem is that while the idea is good, the blunt knife method NQ now implements it is really not good. I could see an argument being made for the first claim outside of Sanctuary remaining free as well, but not one free claim per planet/moon as it is now. Personally, as I fully expect we wil see a wipe prior to actual launch, I will probably just go around and move all my stuff to my tile(s) on Sanctuary and wait it out.
  8. If NQ has changed their plans to expand the universe and drive players in a way they will venture out then resetting what's in the ground every 6 months or so would not be a terrible idea. At he same time though, that reset would need to be random so that you will not have bots parked on a tile with high value ores, just mining it every cycle. The whole problem with the territory claims is that they were supposed to drive communities to build cities and create their own facilities. More and more that is hollowed out to only being mining and/or industry as nothing else is really provided for and NQ has yet to give any indication on where those intial plans have gone. The whole metaverse idea really is nowhere to be seen at this time.
  9. Oh, expensive as NQ mentioned it in the video certainly also means financially for them, they actually said as much. Frankly, the spin to try and get away from that by assuming many here do not understand how expensive can be interpreted in dev terms is frankly a cheap shot and ppssibly targeted at the fanboys so they can start using that argument in discussions.. And Pann knows very well how these things work, she is not exactly without CM experience I'm not saying you are a fanboy here, your post is actually fairly well rounded even when it is duplicated.. And I do not agree that it's about "me, me, me" for players who are critical at all and honestly, that is just an attempt at firefighting and downplaying what really are some very valid arguments. NQ has always had trouble being concise and avoid creating more questions by the way they "explain" or word things. It is certainly true that NQ has a habbit of being nerds and using language suitable for that audience, lacking the understanding they need to "dumb it down" to not confuse the situation. Pann, like me, is of the "old guard". We come from a time of where communication happened though Usenet and BBS.. I agree with her that forums are by far the better platform for a dev to communicate than Discord, which is a very volatile and singe post based platform. Problem here is though that she (and NQ) stop short at driving the use fo the forums though: Being more visible there Using the thread based format offered there to engage at atime that suits Provide meningful feedback to the community to the point where it becomes a more viable platform for "direct" information than Discord. Then there is alternative platforms like Guilded which offers both a timeline based and thread based format and has a LOT more functionality and features which would be greatly beneficial to NQ and the community. Guilded is a very active developer and NQ seeking a collaboration with them would actually be beneficial for both and provide free and wide exposure for the game. Problem is that last I checked and verified, the community managers with NQ really just do Cm work on the side and are tasked with other things as well. And with Naerais being absent (not by choice and I hope she gets well soon) they are understaffed as it is. Unfortunately, all this once again boils down to one of the long time weak links in NQ.. Communication
  10. NQ decided that Industry had to be limited to static cores only as it woudl be "something to fight over" (their actual, literal reason). In reality, industry really is too bulky and complex to be "mobile". At several times since inductry cam into play, players have made suggestions for some form of industry on dynamic constructss, like and expanded nanoformer of sorts but NQ never responded to any of these suggestions over the years
  11. why another thread though.. NQ has a hard enough time keeping up with existing threads and many of your points have been well discussed by now.. Maybe post in one of the several existing threads is a better option here..
  12. That.. is the million dollar question.. while it's out now, I would not put is past NQ to forget to exclude Aphelia (or NQ-Sophos) from paying taxes
  13. You do know JC was kicked out and left the company entirely right (the latter confirmed by NQ on Discord) The point is not that there needs to be upkeep for territories, just like the point was never that schematics for industry were not a good idea. The point is that NQ does not seem to actually think about and/or rezlize the consequences of their actions and seems to think tha they need to "correct" or "manage" how we play the game. The notion that taxes may create incentive for players to "do more" in itself is not terrible.. The fact that NQ seems to not realize that they first need to get a LOT of players in and paying a sub for that to make any difference, really is baffling to me. The whole territory taxation idea is the right idea for all the wrong reasons, implemented in a terrible way that will only end up being counter productive.
  14. What you are trying to say;. Do you have/make 7 million a week to spend on taxes to be able to maximise your mining yield? Which kind of exposes the whole debacle that is this update. NQ pretty much is introducing schematics to mining now..
  15. How many will be camping NQ-Sophon's castle to take it once the TU there goes poof ..
  16. Of course they will just do it again.. NQ is still firmly convinced we as a community simply "do not understand" what they are trying to achieve.
  17. @FerroSC You have a valid argument though I kind of go on an average there ove rthe 7 years.. which actually is well below the 350K.. But we'll have to see how it all plays out. Absolutely correct, the problem is that NQ decided to advertiser their game as beta while it was, and still is, really knee deep in alpha stage of development. Everything we're seeing right now is textbook Alpha stuff.. add or remove elements at will, break stuff, test it, take it out and rework it. The major problem is that NQ choose to let the public in while they were (and are) far from ready for that, but they never even tried to make the case for that. They pretend they are actually in beta, a stage where the game is expected to be pretty much complete to the point you need/want it to be and you focus on refining, bugfixing, polish and generally getting it ready for release. NQ could have put proper power management in place before beta, we as backers provided them feedback and sugegstions on that many times. A lot of the issue we have seen since "beta" were well known and provided feedback on. NQ thought they knew better (and still do), basically pulling the "you just do not understand, just wait and see" card many times. Now, it's crunch time and they have a few months left to release the game.. As NQ-Sesch himself said "We've been in beta for just about a year and have a few months to go" .. Well.. we'll see where that will end up..
  18. They may hear us, but they will not listen.. as per NQ standard operation procedure. Besides that, the avalanche of feedback based just on two days of PTS and the many questions raised by the vlog as probably too much for the few staff available to log, categorize, feedback internally, get responses, post those here AND get any changes done in time for the set release date for the pacth. so both staffing limitations and general NQ policy say no..
  19. I do hope NQ staff actually reads the many forum threads on this and not just expects everyone to post here. Especially since NQ actually started three separate threads on this topic Woudl also be nice to actually see some engagement in these discussions ..
  20. It's not that it was mentioned (it was referred to on many occasions though), not having upkeep simply would not make any sense from a gameplay perspective. As I mentioned, I also do not see the problem with losing ownership if you do not provide upkeep, in whatever for it comes. Many time, going back to the first mention of the TU during alpha, it was suggested that eventually there woudl be upkeep in order to maintain ownership, the only exception would be santuary. What I have a problem with is the cheap (in a dev cost sense), disruptive and overpowered way NQ is now implementing this. And combined with the massive damage exploits have done (players sitting on literally billions of quanta), their "solution" is about as bad as they come. Many have posted suggestions over time on how this could be handled, a quick serach brought me to this one dating back a year.. and there is more and similar ones If you want to put it that black and white, yes. And frankly, as with the introduction of Schematics, the idea is not the problem , the lacklustre way of implementing it is. Upkeep cost were always coming, not paying upkeep, in whatever way it is done, should have consequences. If you do not pay rent, you get evicted and if you run the risk of having your possessions confiscated to pay for the built up debt.
  21. I do not disagree with a release of ownership if upkeep is not paid. It makes sense in many ways. But the way NQ is going about it now is just a cheap cop out.
  22. There was always going to be an upkeep mechanic for territory, that in itself was not a surprise. The way NQ is going about it now though is simply the least effort possible and the lowest possible cost in dev time and resources. They could have brought in proper power management, as in; Have the TU consume powercells, like warpcells over time, Have different tiers of cells which would provide more benefits and/or would run for longer. Having to place an expensive powercell in a TU to make it stay active and provide it's protective functionality would be fine. Tier 1 would run a month and just power the TU. Tier 5 would run for 6 months and give all the benefits if more owned territory with T5 cell TUs were on adjacent cells. Once a cell runs out, it loses it's benefits except for ownership of the territory and linked rights while the remaining energy dissapates. T1 will take 48 hours to drain entirely, T5 will last for another month. After that, the claim is released and any constructs on the tile are open to attack/salvage.. But hey.. I'm no game designer, what do I know..
