this is a client side issue related to client performance on your end. Collision detection is entirely client side, Try upgrading your potato ;)

The game performed better with hardware at and slightly below minimum specifications during beta than now with any hardware.  If this is a client issue then it is code related, not hardware.

It's kind of hard to blame them for nerfing capacity again, if that's what's happening.

I'd probably do the same thing in their boat.

Being realistic, why should they keep things scaled out...? Unfortunately, there's no avenue for growth, here. Not with platforms like Steam. Not with paid adverts. Not with organic growth driven from good content and high quality.

NQ's opportunities to fix this game have come and gone, unfortunately.

Yeah, server problems are a no-win situation, but let's be real...fixing their server problems wouldn't likely make a huge difference in the game's subs, anyway.

To be clear, I don't think NQ has "given up" -- they're actively looking to fill roles still, including a backend dev with an emphasis on web dev and microservices (which makes me think it is micro-transaction related, but that's just a wild guess)...but until these (likely desperate) ideas materialize, I don't blame them for not wanting to pay for infra.

Personally, I am not confident the CEO is grounded enough in reality against the ocean of web3 / blockchain nonsense to pull the game out of its oblivion-spiral, but who knows...? Weirder things have happened.

    All of that plus:

The original vision as stated was a group of disparate features that had not been tried in this combination before.  Some of the intended features are in conflict with other features.  It isn't impossible to get them balanced but that balance should have been achieved in the pre-alpha and alpha or the project scrapped then.  To push into later stages without addressing the conflicting systems within the design was a recipe for disaster.  It is also telling that there is so much finger pointing and blaming of groups.  United we stand, divided we fall.  There was a spectrum of players who wanted everything, but more were at one end or the other; squeezing out players all the while.

All of that to say:  Why should we build the game for a company that ignores and blames us?  That's just a lose-lose scenario.

It only takes a few minutes to warp somewhere with a ship full of equipment.  And if you're parked in space, you can warp immediately, as soon as you log in.

People were prepared because everyone knew they were going to release new planets eventually.  And people got there quickly because of warp.

I don't see any reason to think anyone had any kind of advanced knowledge.

Warp cells have a cost associated.  The scenario I described was an entire fleet of scanning ships slow boated to nearby before the planet was loaded, at a much lower cost than anyone using warp would face.  Two days notice isn't outside the realm of possible for this same thing to happen if you already have a fleet of scanners ready to go at a moment's notice but the ability to customize your equipment for the players confirmed to have the day off...

On that note, I wonder how many stations are within 10su of other planets that are currently not there and if that should be the next focus for those still interested in what NQ is promising.  Or would there be regular sweeps looking to blow up other people's stuff?

I don't really see what kind of advantage you're talking about.

If you know when and roughly where with two weeks advance notice you could organize and stage enough equipment just out atmo range to log in and land with an entire fleet of scanners for your org to hit en masse well ahead of almost everyone else.  When resources are scarce; knowledge is power.

If moons are not enough, then separate planets are also not enough, because of warping. For people where time is everything: Alts and warping around, even to the moons!

So, the people who have the resources to produce enough warp cells or quanta to pay out the nose for it can get in on the scanning game before everything is snatched up?  I wonder which groups and solo players that narrow scope would apply to with two days notice at this point in the game.

  6. I have been working on a digging project as well.  I find that the errors associated with digging go up exponentially the closer one gets to other players and constructs.  I also find that changing between tools (flatten and mine), tool sizes, and how your pointer is aimed all increase your ability to bypass most of the errors.   Keep in mind that doing it this way greatly increases your chances of leaving tiny, ship killing fragments of terrain voxels.

How good is it to have more planets?

It is nice to have more variation however .......... the player  base is small and the ore prices will collapse when adding more planets with ore on them. The amount of available ore is currently ok(-isch) is my feeling. Having an overkill on ore will not do the game any good. The fact the not everybody has access to all ores is a good thing. Adding mo re planets will bring dis-balance the universe .........

What are you basing the more planets means ore price collapse on?  I would love to see some maths.

I whole heartedly disagree that adding planets would cause more imbalances, so long as they are released in pairs or more at a time.  On the other hand, adding one at a time is more likely than not to aid in causing more imbalance.  And before someone tries to be even more pedantic than I; the moons of a planet are still part and parcel of the host planet, adding available land mass in the zone of said planet where traveling is not a significant time investment.

Making claims that not everyone having access to all ores is to misunderstand the entire point of asteroids, or at least an oversimplification in description with missing presumptive qualifiers.  The market is the common judge of in game assets, not opinions or feelings.

Due to serious technical and financial issues related to real world servers I will not make any claims about adding planets being a boon or bane for the game.  It is a mixed bag either way.

Sounds like NQ has reduced server capacity, again.

The problems described here are usually caused by client server desynchronization, which happens when the servers are over utilized and lagging behind the client.

It is considerably less stable now than end of Beta and difficult to play near other players even on foot.  Massively is a term that never applied to player count here, and now we're trimming out the Multiplayer aspect.

Just give us an offline building mode on a 10km tile copied from existing planets with the ability to invite others to visit combined with a lobby based PvP fighter.  The industry types could still grind to make functional factories in their own or shared map.  That's the way it appears to be headed, and TBH it sounds more fun than the current config even without the connection/capacity issues.

1 oz of silver is only at a spot price of $21 USD. You can't even afford McDonalds combo with half an ounce in dollar value... not that I am willing to eat petro based fake food. lol

I made the BTC comment as a joke but if we want to get into actual value versus captured market spot prices... Let's just say anyone selling at or near spot is daft.

So you pay all your bills in fractional BTC? or do you just hand them 1oz silver bars to pay for your tab? :)

Pay bills direct from BTC?  If only.  Transacting between individuals on the internet, absolutely.

Most people who can cognize what a 1oz silver bar really is would not be working in a role to receive physical payment for a tab.  Plus, I wouldn't want to flash something of value when a small square of petro based, petro backed plastic is preferred by them.  :)

Or I could take it a little more serious and write an essay.  B)

    Supporter Pack Pets:

    • Supporter Pack Pet tier 1: Anicham Scrap
(Silver Founder Backer / Contributor Supporter Backer tiers and higher)
    • Supporter Pack Pet tier 2: Anicham Comp
(Gold Founder Backer / Sponsor Supporter Backer tiers and higher)
    • Supporter Pack Pet tier 3: Anicham Max
(Sapphire Founder Backer / Patron Supporter Backer tiers and higher)

Traditionally pets are cosmetic only.  Some games allow them to give buffs, autoloot, or more but there is usually a tradeoff tied into that somehow.  In this case specifically the tiers refer to increasingly complex/decorative models.  They could just as easily given them a random model number (ex. C3P2, Mk IV, etc.).

  13. 1)  The traditional MMO starter zone is abandoned quickly as players explore the world.  Trying to force people to set up a permanent tile on a specific planet (in a sandbox) is at best off-putting.  Using the Haven TU as the respawn of last resort is an excellent work-around to provide an in-game value to the tile that doesn't detract from other gameplay aspects.  It would be helpful for brand new players to be given more information about the pros and cons of picking their first Haven tile before being forced into the choice, which then highlights a few flaws in the design... /sigh

    2)  A sandbox game should give zero F's about where the players live and play; just facilitate those functions in general.  If you want the game to be lively then be active and attract more players to the general proximity of where you call home.  It isn't easy but far less destructive than forcing choices in a sandbox.

    3)  The STU was considered a cash shop item from inception and appears to still be the case based on verbal comments during official streams.  Trying to shoehorn it into another role at this point is more likely than not to cause more problems than it would solve.

I see potential on this road.

I see even more potential!  That would be a great track for drag racing and if it's long enough would be cool for cruising too.

Just keep in mind that an ever-present "potential" backed up by years of no progress on any of the desired "potential" is an earmark of a trap, a scam, or Isaac Newton's writings.

  16. I enjoy taking part in these discussions but I will no longer put effort into giving NQ suggestions or ideas until I see an earnest effort on their part to communicate with the community.  Token gestures like tours and contests are just that, tokens.  I pour love and imagination in and only get tokens out?  What could possibly go wrong?

That said, I don't buy the market balance excuse.  If market balance was a priority then NQ would not leave any room for doubt about potential insider dealing leading to imbalance.  If anything, this was the minimum requirement or least effort attempt to pad a failed game loop.

and everything he sees is DU like him, inside and outside

DU his house with the DU little window

    with a DU corvette

and everything is DU for him and his self and everybody around

cause he can't get NQ to listen

    I'm DU, I believe and I try

    I believe and I die

    I believe and I cry

I knew since before release that a new planet was coming  And have been planning for it since week two.  The stream announcement just allowed me to put the plan into motion. Although I did stream snipe cords of the new planets and move assets closer to where the planet would pop.  But hey I will give you some insider information they are going to add more planets, start planning now.

The issue isn't that we know there will be more planets coming online that we can prep for.  The issue is that a select few likely had a release date weeks in advance to organize and stage assets.  The issue is that NQ has been caught repeatedly giving a game breaking advantage to a select few in a game where resource scarcity is a feature.  The issue is that NQ released ONE planet despite it being plain to see that doing so would further advantage those who have already been advantaged even without insider info.

I saw at least three people on the forums discussing these types of things prior to 1.1 (down from a dozen a year ago for similar circumstances).  If us whiners in the forums can see a problem with it then NQ cannot feign ignorance of the consequences of releasing one planet.  The right-click recycling killed my optimism for the collective dev skill of NQ.  Releasing one planet in an already imbalanced PvP focused game cannot be explained away in any manner favorable to NQ.  It is completely unacceptable and moved me from neutral but skeptical to seeing a clear and demonstrable pattern of gaslighting and abuse.

I still find it hilarious the same people generally getting information early are the ones on discord calling me a "conspiracy theorist". As if half of the guys locking up most of the t2+ ore are not botting missions as the same time to be able to afford all the land they are claiming, then not using.

It is common for those engaged in gaslighting to confess via projection.  The more someone insists that another is engaged in conspiracy theories, the more evidence that they are engaging in actual conspiracy.  It may not be a smoking gun, but there's enough smoke to be cautious.
