  4. What would be nice is if this was the way it was, they would need a cartography skill, the higher your skill the more detailed and accurate your maps would be. That way, you could sell the basic cheap map for less and the detailed one for a lot more.

I could see it also happening because of over growth, say hex A is owned and all the other ones around it are as well all by different organizations. when the city or whatever is built in A needs to expand it might need to fight to take over an adjacent hex. I do agree with your point though, once we are all space faring, why not just explore. and move else where. a planet for everyone. I can see big, hungry organizations, letting the smaller ones do the work then swoop in to take it over. because the other organization already built the stargate etc...

  12. yes I understand that, so unless they put in the lore that we were all tagged with some kind of id chip, you still shouldn't know me from captaintwerkmotor. all you should know is who was on the ship. Also since the lore also included a massive memory loss, that also covers not knowing Bob, who you walked onto the ship with. We both know what the game is probably going to do. its going to be like all the other MMO's out there, I was expressing my distaste for that because it breaks our ability to roleplay and to hide etc...

I understand when you target them, but still I have never liked that system, because of two reasons, 1) you shouldnt get to know my name which cant be changed if I dont tell you. especially in an immersive game like this. 2) if I am hiding, and you don't see me, but happen to mouse over my location, my name pops up. It takes the ability to hide out of all of these kinds of games. I think for more realism, it should show PLAYER, for name until we have chatted, and I authorize you to view my name, then from that point on when you see me, or mouse over etc, it shows my name.
  14. the only problem is, it looks like it automatically displays your name above your head. Which I hate in a game, cause you don't know me how do you already know my name
  15. I have never had this problem with not having my name, then again the more unique and original your name the better chance no one else uses it.

I don't think having a gate connecting to all other gates in range, makes a no travel time limitation. you will still get 2+ jumps to far away systems, that you would have to consider in your plans. Also if its gate to gate, what stops us from building 1000+ gates in the start sector that connect to 1000+ systems, and then they are all still just a 2 jump system away from each other.
