  1. He said "I have been performing scans of all planets", so yes I think it is safe to say he also scanned non-safe planets. But even if this was only on "safe" planets, there is something fundamentally wrong with the game if someone puts down this much effort and is still not able to find a sustainable source of anything > T1 ore. And it literally means that any new player must join an existing org (who owns higher tier tiles) or be stuck as a T1 peasant for the remainder of the game.
  2. If people are staying in the safesones it is because they are not interested in PVP. And trying to force them to participate in PvP (or any other type of game play their are not interested in) will only make them leave the game. And they have, in droves.. Imagine for example how many PvP'ers would leave this game, if they where forced to build land structures and maintain a certain amount of tiles before they could PvP. So the only way to make more people want to PvP is for NQ to make PvP a more fun and interesting experience. But it cannot be at the expense of people who do not want to PvP, and it cannot be forced by removing safezones.
  3. Ohh look! Just as we said the wipe did not solve anything. And instead all we got (as predicted) was a a new 'master race' with orgs who had detailed plans learned from beta on how to maximize their efforts at release. And they have now literately taken over the game at the expense of everyone else trying to play.
  4. I just had to try. Here is what ChatGPT had to say about Novaquark using voxels and web3 to make the metaverse. And of course community, lots and lots of "community".
  5. Why is it that PvP'ers seems perfectly fine with forcing other players to play a certain way against their will? The simple fact is that those players that want to PvP are already doing so, and those that do not find joy in PvP are not. And no amount of calling them 'carebears' are going to change that.
  6. Which basically is a remake of what had already been done previously in Landmark. Take a look at this 8 year old video..
  7. NQ tech was impressive on paper. But NQ also never managed to make a game that came even remotely close to deliver the functionality NQ said they would be able to deliver with said technology. And DU still has all the scaling issues we worried about (but NQ said we should not) in early pre-alpha tests, and so they keep on adding more limitations with every new versions to try and mitigate. So how impressive is it really, once you start looking at the reality of DU?
  8. I honestly think NQ started out with a 100% focus on making DU and only that. But as the years went on and the game continued to struggle, my bet is that the people behind the VC money told NQ to start looking for other means to make money. And I don't think it is a coincidence that JC left around the time this happened. So in this scenario where DU is no longer the main focus, it also suddenly becomes more likely that the DU being keep alive as a 'tech demo' thing might also be true.
  9. sure in a way, but VR was always an integral part of the vision. At least the orignal "Snow Crash" book one.
  10. Once VR is the same as taking on a pair of sunglasses, is when it will be ready for "everyone" in my opinion. And when I talk about "metaverse" I mean the original definition, not the walled garden stuff that is being pushed now that is the complete opposite of the original definition.
  11. I agree with most that is said here. But to be fair. The core idea behind a metaverse is sound. But despite what Zuckerberg and friends are saying, the tech is nowhere near being ready for that in a way that will be acceptable outside of tech nerds and niche groups.
  12. If only. I was complaining about slow dev pace and saying something was off even before alpha started. And sadly my gut feeling was not wrong..
  13. Doing a quick Photoshop job on some web image to show a concept and getting the task approved, is very normal. But that is meant for internal stuff, not the f****** version announcement in the official forum.. So my guess is that the person responsible for making the announcement posted the wrong picture. The alternative is that they don't have anything else to show yet, despite being days from the release.. Which when I think about it is not that unlikely when we consider who we are talking about here.
  14. Well.. The AI is designed to be civil and avoid anything that can be considered controversial. Which is why you get a boilerplate answer to if the game is any good, and information that is taken mostly straight from the official web pages instead of forums etc. But it is interesting that even despite this, when you push a little it has managed to catch some of underlying problems related to DU. And that said, the AI is crazy good at certain things. For example.
  15. Here is what the ChatGPT AI has to say when asked.
  16. That explains it! The reason they are making the game unplayable is to keep the player count low enough for the "Free" tier on Cloudfront. It all makes sense now!!
  17. Yeah.. The sensible way is that you get one calibration every day, but when you calibrate within that time slot does not matter since it would reset at midnight regardless. And the dev logic for this is dead simple, so the way it is implemented now is just the result of laziness and not having put any effort into understanding the task. And just another example of NQ's tendency to reinvent the wheel, and somehow always manage to make a worse wheel then what everyone else is using.
  18. And people wonder why at some point I stopped giving constructive feedback, and all that is left is to just straight up make fun of NQ.
  19. Yeah.. It's hard to justify the "this is still beta, they will fix it later" argument, when the game is arguably even worse now in release.
  20. For a normal sane company most of those suggestions would indeed be low dev suggestions. But if you look at the timeline for features in previous NQ releases, and use "NQ time" to project then the suggestions would be 6-12 months of dev at the very least.
  21. As I said I would, I stopped playing after the wipe. But I still try to keep up on what happens in the game just to see how much worse they can manage to make it. Call in an morbid fascination if you will..
