  1. So, since Terran Union is a part of Cinderfall, both me and Darius decided to endorse one another. Over time, I found him to be a capable leader who could manage his faction. During the DUExplorers meeting, I found Darius to be knowledgeable of the game as well. The best way to put it is that he is a person who people should follow.

So there. I endorse and hope to see whoever joins Terran in the future. Also, you want to join another alliance? Click here or down bellow

  2. Well, we have a few EVE players in these forums that want to Pay-2-Win by multiboxing. You should try and do your own thing in the game imho, set up a space gas station in a jump point and be set for life :P

OK. I never have responded to a forum post like this, but this was a QUESTION! Simply put, This is Gameplay Mechanics assembly. He is simply assembling the gameplay mechanics and trying to figure out if there will be a realm for solo players in this community. There is no need for negative controversy to be stirred up and no need for a, quote on quote, remark about him being anti-social and accusing him of multiboxing(he said it but didn't say he did it) to be said. If you feel the need stir up controversy, just go back to your irl social circle.

I was wondering how far do you think it will be possible to progress as a solo player?  On the title cards, on the official webpage, team up and go solo are right next to each other leading me to believe that the devs have them pretty equal in their minds.  But we won't know for sure until the game comes out.  For instance in EVE it is possible to play by your self, doing almost anything, but that kind of takes the second M out of MMO.  Also here I am not sure what to consider solo play. For the EVE players out there, belonging to a NPC corporation doesn't mean you play solo, you could still run incursions, join RvB and just hunt solo, but I am not sure if that counts as solo play as in incursions you are clearly not alone but, for the most part the people you play with amount to randoms, and in RvB you rely on the long standing support of others.  A solution if you have to play by your self is multiboxing, but there is no clear answer no weather we are going to have that supported or not.  Another thing, I don't know how far I want solo player to be able to go, I see no problem with a single player sitting within an organization by themselves, taking maybe weeks to capture a whole system for himself being frowned on, especially with an AI their to help them.

In case you don't play EVE, an NPC corporation is the what players default to when they leave a player made one and don't join another, and RvB is short for Red Vs Blue, where to player run corporations are in a state of perpetual warfare in a region of policed space, so they can kill each other over and over without interruption. (If any other EVE players could describe it better do so, because while I did play EVE for a while I was pretty bad at it.)

As for you my friend, I never Welcomed you to the forums and although it is a bit late, welcome. As for solo players, it is stated that solo will be possible, but the benefits of joining a group of people will far outweigh solo. In terms, organizations will always have a dominance over solo by a long, long shot. Solo is not a good option, however such roles as freelancer, wanderer and even professional spy, bounty hunter and as such will be possible. So there are roles that are similar to solo but actually have some benefits.

For NPC corperations as well, I highly doubt we will see such things but the devs still have a lot to reveal to us. Hope that answers your question.

  3. now really? you were given several arguments exactly why food and water doesn't add anything valuable to the game and would rather decrease the playerbase, and you claim no one gave constructive critizism? Are you trying to troll the community? There was a logical answer to every argument that was given for a food mechanic, are you really going to ignore that and say that there weren't any? How should we take your posts serious if u behave like that?

And then you come with the reasoning that players want to loot something? What would you rather loot after killing a player and/or destroying his ship, ressources, components, blueprint files, weapons etc. or some cereals? As if food is anything that'd be desired by pirates.

For food to be something desireable, that people would kill for it, it has to be at least uncommon. If food is uncommon its even more so a reason to not include this mechanic, because then besides the need to always carry the food, you have to put in the effort to actually get it somehow. Thats just ridiculous.

You know, you gave me some more ideas I suppose. Food would be a resource that is needed for survival, but the economic availability and possibility for a single person to grow it would be quite good. In that case, food is not something that needs to be worried over.... unless. If someone runs out of food(assuming they can't get any either), they might make a trade off for their survival to attack another person. This would probably be if they didn't have a Resurrection Node nearby as well.

See, the point of this is to give thoughts. While I can personally see food adding layers to the game, I can also imagine it being another step that you have to go through. For me as the leader of the DUA, I can have fun playing around with this mechanic and implementing it into my plans. However, individuals might find it another step of their routine. It might take those who join the game, play solo for a while and then join a faction down. Then again....

Dual Universe is supposed to be a game. However, it was never supposed to be a game that's easy to play. An example is the rumored time frame that a single person would take to get a ship that can escape orbit and achieve space travel. It was said that it would take over a year! Now, this is a rumor but if this was to be true, it would mean that players should either be willing to work for this or to join a group of players.

As for weighted ammo, it's a good idea. I don't think it's a bad idea at all and, unlike food in some cases, it just adds to the game.

  4. Starmade. I haven't played that game in a while but it sure takes me back. Welcome to have you on the forums and in the community.

This shipyard idea sounds good, but you're going to have to figure out a way to protect this. I imagine the two options are Mercenaries or a faction with enough firepower to do so,

    Anyways, I wish you luck.

  5. i feel like it will still be able to be gotten through steam. there are mmo's that are on steam that you can get outside of steam like final fantasy

Good point. See! My faction members have my back covered, right? Right guys?

    *pulls out plasma weapon*

    Right?

  6. I'm not too sure about asking this or which subforum it might fit under, but I have to ask. Will there be a version of this for Steam? Some of us wish not to leave our comfort zone. I'm a bit concerned about leaving my safe place.

    Please, I'm scared to ask.

Well, I hope it is as well. Currently, there are quite a few MMO's that are on steam and there are quite a few that aren't. I'd say 50/50 chance. Have fun with that idea.

  7. The DUA's thread is one of the most popular :D

I've noticed that. There are still factions above the DUA but to be a high quality faction with a decent sized member base is all that's really needed. I'm still working as a leader to improve the Alliance and expand my knowledge by keeping up with the game news, but it's going good.

  8. People need to stop watching this as another Minecraft were you can mod everything and start looking at it as an mmorpg sandbox

He got this idea from space engineers. It wasn't a bad idea at first glance. I think it's just good to critique your own ideas before you post them. That way, you ensure that ideas aren't getting put in that have already been considered or answered(I did that my first forum post) or that aren't relevant. After all, the likelihood that someone has sad the same idea twice or has an idea that wouldn't work is high.

I will at least give him credit as he did try and care about the game by coming up with an idea that he'd like to see in it.

  9. And to everyone, thank you for joining. The rate of growth is quite alarming and is forcing me to expand when I thought I had a little bit more time to sit back. I was quite wrong and I'm being forced to write my plans, government and everything much quicker than originally planned. In one way, this spike of interest is not only expanding the DUA player base, but also expanding how the DUA is being formed. Thanks for the interest again.

  10. but there is no way I can design something like that myself  lol

i'd be up for buying some ships,  gotta have something to start the game with.

Also,  could it be possible to get some kindof designer app out?   Like black desert did with a character creator.. could allow plans to be drawn up and saved for future ships.

I do not think Novaquark would do that. It sounds like a sort of idea that wouldn't fit into the aspect of their game. Not to mention that it takes time to program even the smallest of things. However, I'm sure that a player base out there somewhere will still probably do it.

  11. Well it's smart to naturally have a mod base and community to a game, however there's a problem. This is an MMORPG. It's not that it couldn't be done, because it could, but it's rather that in-game items would offset the balance of the game. Not to mention that everyone in the Single-Shard server would also have to have that mod. However, in the case of HUD, Texture and mods like those, it would be possible that the modding community gets to that side without the devs saying so. Even if they didn't, it might be for the better. One aspect of MMORPGs is purposely to have everyone play the exact same game. Changing that would mean changing the game, making it different from the other majority player base. It's not a bad idea to have a modding community, but for this game, it's difficult to imagine.
