    Hi everyone,

The email with the link to download the client will be sent as soon as possible.
We will keep you informed on this topic. We know you are all eager to test the game.
    We apologize for the delay.
If you are worried about whether or not your account is set for the Pre-Alpha, here are the three possible situations:
If your gold backer status (or above) isn't displayed on your profile page on the community portal:
This means you are a Kickstarter backer and you might have forgot to fill the Kickstarter survey form or something went wrong with the information you gave in the survey. If you are in this case, please contact the support and state your email address linked to your Dual Universe account and  that your backer status isn't displayed on your profile page on the Community Portal. You can join the support here:
    https://support.dualthegame.com/hc/en-us
If your gold backer status (or above) is displayed on your profile page on the community portal, but not on the forum:
Your account is already set to download the client. However, you don't have access to the Pre-Alpha forum section yet.
This means you have to log at least once on the forum, or sign off / sign in again. After that, you will have to wait the next update transferring eligible accounts from the group "Member" to the group "Pre-Alpha tester". We will run several updates today to leave nobody behind, but you will probably have to wait a bit.
If your gold backer status (or above) is displayed on your profile page on the community portal and on the forum:
Your account is all set. You should be able to download the client, as well as having access to the Pre-Alpha forum section (if you have logged on the forum before this topic has been posted.)
Reminder: this is a Pre-Alpha. See it as a preliminary test for massively multiplayer interaction (first time with potentially more than 2,500 players) and not as a representative final game experience yet. There is a high chance that no progress will be saved and Blueprint mechanics are deactivated for the time being as they are being reworked. Thank you for your understanding.
    Best Regards,
    The Novaquark team.

    @Ishamael:
The client is downloaded in a compressed format by the installer.
The file size should be around 2 GB. Then the installer will decompress the game in the specified game folder and the client, once fully installed, should be under 8 GB. The required 40 GB is a - comfortable - margin for the game cache and also crashdumps for bug reports.

    Edit: "Go" replaced by "GB"

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar

First things first, you should take a look at the Builder Guide on the wiki, we've spent considerable time refining it from the information we know now.

I wouldn't think of it as being given creative mode, but rather that to make testing things simpler, you will be skipping the mining and refining steps of the gameplay for the Pre-Alpha.

As far as how collecting resources will work, it seems that it will be more of a simple sphere, and maybe other shapes to dig into the ground, but you will have some tools like smoothing to round off edges and such while terraforming.  There is another whole type of voxel interaction which is building.  This involves editing a construct as defined by a construct.  This is where you will have a grid (if you want), and more precise tools.

As far as the tools involved, it seems to just be this detached style of mining where you are shown the area that will be mined and click a button to mine it.  There is no implementation of a personal drill to directly mine out the ground/resources at this time.

There will not be ship-based mining for balancing reasons.

How much mining for a small ship?  It depends on what materials you want to use to construct it.  There will be many options to use as the body (voxels) of a ship and that's not to mention the materials necessary for all of the elements involved.  In theory each of those resources would need to be scanned down, dug out, and refined into usable materials.  How long all of that takes is really yet to be truly determined as they refine the mechanics.

For a death star, remember that the entire volume of something you build has to be mined, and JC previously gave us a value of something like 52 m^3/s (check Twitter for actual number, not that it's final anyways).  Doing the math, it would take a rediculous amount of time for even hundreds of players to mine, refine, transport to orbit, and construct such a structure.  Imagine years most likely (for a 1:1 scale).

For refining of my materials, as I've mentioned above you absolutely have to refine the materials you mine out of the ground into something useable in a construct.  This mechanic has not been really defined, but imagine that it will involve inputting resources into a container that a refining element pulls from and dumps into another container.  This whole process would require power to run, and may only be possible on a static construct (TBD).  We created a list of known ores and refined materials here: https://dualuniverse.gamepedia.com/Resources

Neza got a reaction from Wardonis in Creative mode?
    Hi everyone,

    another question from a newbie:
The ship editor in Dual Universe is by far the most capable I have seen in any game and it offers nearly unlimited possibilities in terms of creativity (that´s the very thing that convinced me to support this game).
Now my question: Will we players be able to try and experiment with blueprints without imminent resources consumption?
What I have in mind is a creative mode for creation of blueprints so that resources are only required if I actually want to build the blueprint and turn it into a flyable ship.
The alternative would be days of resources gathering before you can even properly try out the ship editor (Most people I know would not be in for that because of the limited free time a working person has).

In my book, this would work out nicely for large projects that require a lot of resources (and hence players) to complete:
You could simply post a picture of the blueprint on e.g. the forum of you guild as a preview of what is being constructed.
Additionally, this would aid the construction process assuming that everybody helping with the construction can see the blueprint and hence the shape of the final construct.

    Best regards,

I wish you a wonderful day, _Neza_.

Your ideas are similar to the ideas expressed in this thread here (Creative Mode - Out of Game - Multiplayer for Construct Blueprint/Subassembly Creation) that I suppose @Lethys  was referring to above.

    Cheers.

    Hello _Neza_,
First time Welcome to the forum / game.

A very good question, as far as I know, there is a kind of test room where you can try out your designs, but I do not know if I have to own all the materials. I am also very interested in it, because it affects the playing style considerably! If you know more please report (also NQ).

    Hallo _Neza_,
