So far in dev-diaries, we have seen fighter-type cockpits, but will there be starship-bridge type elements?

Type A: all-in-one control panel: It's like that block in Space Engineers where you plop it down on a ship and it provides all the same functionalities as the cockpit, just with a different shape

Type B: designing individual controls: We know that there will be buttons, logic gates, and Lua scripts to control things, as well as screen blocks. With this, it should be possible to create a ship with full-control capabilities *without* any cockpit blocks. Some features that would make this more practical are: cameras that can relay input into the screen blocks and possibly a "steering wheel" to control the ship.

I would also like to see cockpits that had a large amount of its internal area be interactable screens so we can program buttons into it.

The Devs built a freighter with a three seater cockpit.

    Here is the video.

This is entirely correct, to the point, informative and lacking in snark. You feeling alright? ;)

We know there will be LUA for the functional scripting, for interfaces there will be CSS and hopefully some HTML.

I kind of wonder if we will be able to create buttons in the cockpit huds? Simple example: an interactive button in HTML to start the engines.

  3. I think drones would probably be better suited for interplanetary transport. I mean, imagine this. You're traveling and then you come across a fleet of drones transporting large quantities of supplies for work projects with maybe a couple armed transports ensuring their safety.

Or maybe you see a number of tankers carrying liquid fuel to an area over a desolate route that no one would normally travel. It's a very interesting sight and I think we could be benefited with such.

Someone order twenty tactical warheads? We are going to "drop" them over here.

  4. They have talked about close range material usage. This would basically mean that if you had a pouch bot following you to increase your storage by using the bot as a quick, mobile backpack, if within a certain range, you can pull from the bot without having to approach it and walk back and forth between building site and storage unit

    Good to know!

  5. Appreciate the link.

I did see that post, but because I quick read it and I didn't get it all. My bad.

Other then elevators and transport, what about small construct? Example, moving sculptures or locks?

  6. How exactly do you see this implemented?

A bullet train for one, but I can see the possibility of other applications.

And I don't know about a tractor beam, but maybe a hull clamp for boarding.

  7. Yes, in the GDC Q&A it was revealed that there will be a mass/volume/weight limit to a players inventory. To prevent players acting like unlimited storage containers.

So what about build ships in a base or shipyard? Will there be an a local storage unit that you can place materials and pull from it when building? Or will it be "I ran out of materials again. Back to the storage to get more."?

  8. Warden, no disrespect but please keep the gore to an minumal. Don't want anyone anyone hit by the moderator for something that is going to upset someone because there kid saw it on an game forum.

    Just saying.

The reason I asked was I was planing on making a copy of The Event Horizon and leaving it for someone to find when the game launches. Perfect for an Halloween event.

  9. Paintings:

Instead of just using boxes of color to make a mosaic why not use the create and edit shapes? We already know for one of the Dev videos that you can make an box shape and then use a circle shape to edit it. It would be like sculpting but it an flat area.

    Music:

This might be a long shot, but we can use LUA language to script an A.I. in the cockpit of a ship right? Which means we maybe be able to record voices or use preset alert tones already in the games. So we might be able to create music via recordings or playing tones in an order.

It would something like an concert since it would be tried to your computer and not the server.
