Shadowspawn reacted to Anderson Williams in Dear NQ....
Hey NQ, I'm sure not everyone will agree with me but there is a fair amount of us that really want to love and believe in this game.

I am worried however, I like to think I'm one of your biggest supporters, and i am working hard to keep that positivity alive. I try to look to the positive every chance I get... and I try to give you guys the benefit of the doubt because I can't imagine the strain and difficulties you guys face.

Despite my dedication has been shaken a few times, I'm still here. I still am a supporter. Proudly.

However, I am asking/begging you to give the members of this community the voice they want to talk to NQ and know that they are heard. CCP did this with the interstellar Council.... give some of us the chance to be involved to represent the player base.. to give our teammates the answers they want and desire, to raise the concerns we have to you and know they are being addressed. It's one thing to say these things and occasionally get an answer or a side step, but we could do so much better. Admittedly without someone even acknowledging our posts in here we don't even know if you guys read them.

I want to believe in DU... but the relationship between NQ and the player base is becoming more like a tumultuous relationship between management and the employees. The player base isn't going to feel represented by a Shamsie.. or someone who is out of touch with most aspects of the game. I mean, when asked about issues regarding pvp a rep of NQ seemingly had no idea how pvp even occured. I don't mean that disrespectfully... but let us help! We want to... and if this game is going to succeed we can't be treated or be made to feel like employees who are gonna stick by the company. Which we are not.

    My solution.

Implement a 5 person council of sorts that meets occasionally. Has a direct line to NQ and you can ping your updates/changes off. Like for instance you guys are talking about tactical map... I'm concerned as far as what that could mean or be used for. It makes me concerned over a pvp disconnect here...

This council would be active members of the community or are apart of larger organizations and bring thier perceptions from those organizations to NQ. This may mean some more secret new directions being revealed but also could be a saving grace if the plan is absolutely terrible and not going to be well received. It may help to have insight from those of us who actually play. We want to help and support you.

I beg you to take this request seriously. We are still in your corner.

Shadowspawn reacted to Omukuumi in [PVP] What easy-to-integrate features would you like for the release?
Hi, a new topic for resume some of our idea about PVP features in the future.

    Wrecks
    - add an element similar to the DSAT for them
    - put them all in space
    - add schematics in their storage, with a value that depends on the rarity of the wreck
This would be a cool first PVP approach for all players as well as an additional way to have content for the most experienced on the rarest wrecks

    Asteroids
    - delete T4 and T5 from the MUs on each planets/moons
    - modify the spawn algorythm for dodge any PVP roid to spawn too close to the Safezone
    - reduce their maximum spawn distance
    - disable the possibility of create a station with a shield close to them
    - allow imprisoning players who farm in jetpack with XS core and glass panel or give us GUNS
In order to restore the interest in asteroids and encourage people to interact with each other, whether through piracy or through group mining to protect/optimize themselves.

    Alien core
    - Increase the power of items requiring plasma
    - Hide/protect ships docked to an alien core, or just on station, with a shield
    - Less T5 in MU
    - Scales the need for plasma in the schematics based on item size (example 1 for XS, 2 for S, 3 for M and 4 for L, and modify the production of plasma if needed)
This will add interest to Alien cores, preserve an important interest for asteroids by avoiding being the main source of T5

    Piracy
    - Bring back the boarding, the button feature work now, if people don't check their ship then it's their fault. (and the force field for counter boarding is so boring for dock/land)
    - Rework the radar, add some range or be able to follow the signature of a ship or any other idea else than this 2SU max
    - Delete the jammed zone, if people can see hauler going in space, PVP players can see pirates who hunt it or any other player who want help/warn/counter
    - Need more reward for hunting mission hauler
    - Go back on group missions and stop special missions (beta keys will end with the release and if you add more tool on pirates, big hauler will be hunted)
    - Adds different icons/icons colors, allowing each player to set a reputation on an org or a player
    - Add a right clic option on dynamic construct icon for wisp the pilot and allow players to talk (to find a deal, a ransom or a pass)

I tried to summarize some of my ideas as well as possible, if you have better or different ones do not hesitate.

Shadowspawn reacted to Omukuumi in Colored icons in PVP
Hi, can we have different colors on dynamic construct in PVP?

    By priority order:
NQ Staff > Green (like actually)

Transponder match, not a NQ Staff > Blue

Transponder didn't match BUT pilot is in friendlist/orgs and not a NQ Staff > White

Transponder didn't match, not in friendlist/orgs and not a NQ Staff > Red

It's the first MMO where I can't clearly see my ennemies/allies, I take 2 minutes for color them on GIMP, with 5 minutes you can have a nice icon for sure.

what game? I'm asking because I'm a member of NG...and if there was something done, I'd either know about it...or at the very least, the person you're accusing? You're leveling some pretty serious charges, and follow it up with, I won't go into that?

I'm also not here write an essay about the state of pvp, I'm here because you made a post accusing my org and my alliance, of "something"...I'm still not sure what....and it also looks like, you're editing your posts in real time? Thankfully we took some screenshots of the allegations you made, and then changed your mind about.

Shadowspawn reacted to Gottchar in Maintenance, an element-sink idea
The problem: Elements never decay, ore is infinite.

A possible solution: Element decay and requiring maintenance.

    Overview
    -a second health bar
    -decay is time based
-decay is in no way coupled with damage taken. Scrap stays the mechanic for damage related repairs.
-purely cosmetic items are excluded from this, no maintenance for plants, furniture, windows etc.
-no decay for items in containers
-a maintenance unit keeps the tedium at bay
-the maintenance unit is fuelled with elements of the same "family" as the items to be maintained.

    The new bar:
With the repair tool in hand and ALT key held, elements show their decay status. Usually players will use their maintenance unit to check stuff though. The bar slowly fills with decay points and, when full, the item needs full replacement. This would on average take month to happen and is easy to avoid. The decay bar has as many points as the healthbar has health points.

    Time based:
Any time a player enters the seat or build mode of a craft, or enters build mode, and at least 5 minutes have passed, the game runs the decay check. This also happens during server down time if it didnt happen for the last weeks otherwise. So most constructs have this happen to them spread over time, but even unused constructs do not escape decay.
During decay check the following is done:
-game checks time passed since last check
-game checks total hitpoints of all elements that can decay (cosmetics are excluded)
-multiplies the above numbers and a coefficient
-assigns those decay points, up to 5% of the bar of an element,  but on the healthiest (by percentage) elements first.

If you have two identical ships, but one is used every day, and the other every month, they still decay at the same overall rate. The first in daily tiny chunks, the other in big chunks whenever used. Please note it would still take months to actually destroy an item due to decay.

    No cosmetic items:
Players are already discouraged from using cosmetic items, due to the tedium of repair. I don’t want to add to that.

No decay for items in containers
Especially now with core limitations and the renewed talk of "storage mechanics" for ships reemerging, having no decay for items that are not visible in the game world is a nice incentive for players to keep the world clear of their 40 ships they have in some corner.

    The Maintenance unit
Similar to a repair unit, but useful, this machine let’s you empty your decay bars. A ship in maintenance is temporily disabled, the unit can also be used to fuel all tanks.

    The "fuel"
The most important part, in order to do the above, the unit must be connected to a container with items (and fuel). It directly transfers the decay points of elements on the construct to elements in the connected to container, and deletes them if the bar is full.  This only works for elements that share a group:
-atmo and space engines of each tier are a group
    -ground engines and adjustors
    -aerofoils
    -containers including tanks
    -AGG, pulsors, warp
-control units, electronics, elevators, force fields, other "system" items.
-industry units of the same tier
    -doors, gates, landing gears
So unlike the repair units you do not need the exact item, but you do at least need something similar. This should also normalize different market prices of different elements with similar production cost.

    Possible results:
-Every item is useful, if only as scrap. If a patch makes some item obsolete (like recently with scanners) they can still be put to use.
-just like the 4 different space fuels equalize the t2 ore prices to some degree, this would also equalize prices between safe/freight/military/maneuver engines.
-no item is a one time purchase, unless it is cosmetic. Equipping t4 engines mean from now on you need t4 engines to maintain them.
-You can not just only buy things on alioth and there is little commerce on other planets. because now, on every planet, there is a constant, if slow, need for elements.
-Ore prices steady and hopefully ore bots can be turned off again. A step towards a player driven economy.

It's happen often that Alioth/Madis /Thades PVP asteroid spawn very close of the safe zone limit
In that case you have tens of ships at the safe zone limit, and players flying with their nanopack to the PVP asteroid, and come back to their ship as soon as their nanopack is full.
Is that really the gameplay NQ wants ? Those players completely avoid the risk/reward mechanics !
Can we just have a limit so that PVP asteroid never spawn so close of the safe zone (something like 30su)
