  1. Trying to fix my ship with an S dynamic core.

I have the dynamic core in my inventory. I have the deploy element tool selected.

Tooltip says "Cannot be restored anymore Trash or Alt-LMB to replace."

I press Alt-LMB and it says "The core unit cannot be removed in Build Mode."

    Thoughts?

Yep I completely agree that all those are missing and your only way to making money is damn boring mining. The problem is, if this change would happen "later" it would be even worse and create even more problems while the change itself(without taking the lack of content into consideration) is good.

I very much so disagree with the statement that it could be worse if done later.

New players on the forums and discord are quitting in  frustration because they can't do anything.  If new players are scared off then this game will wither and die. We needed content added before content was gated.  If this travesty of a patch dissuades new players from joining, results in people not recommending this game to friends, etc then the game will die. So far everyone except me in one of my orgs have uninstalled and the other org is pretty dead at the moment as well.

This change was botched hard. If not in concept, then in implementation.

I am an ex EVE online player, that game has the most established economy in game world I believe. You need to mine for YEARS there to make a biggest ship solo (and it's not worth it as there are schematics too) but this is the only way of making the economy work.

You can very easily get what you want without mining because EvE has tons of other content. The issue is that the only content in DU at the moment is mining and industry and now industry is gated to such an extent that new players are quitting and any future players will likely be scared off.

If we had a mission system to earn money, like EvE, or a factional warfare systems, like EvE, or the ability for meaningful PvP, like EvE, or ratting, like EvE, then this industry change wouldn't be such a big deal.

As it stands now, though, it was a terrible idea.

I have the right to log into any account I own.

    You're not wrong.

But it's also not unprecedented on other sites to ban people's alt accounts for evading bans on their main.

So...yeah. I guess we're going to see what NQ thinks in this case.

  5. Don't refine, you'll get more money with raw ore than refined ore. People with higher skills get more refined material per raw material than you will with no skills so their margins will always be better than yours.

Sink points into the linked container range so that you can just link to a medium or large container on your ship and not have to go back to the surface that often. Added bonus is since your inventory is empty you can just suicide back to your rez pad on your ship. Make sure to put lots of airbrakes on your ship so that your landing speed is low and you don't blow up a large container of ore falling out of the sky.

Make sure to get your scanner skills up to 3 or preferably 4 along with detector skills, makes everything insanely easier.

With more practice you'll find node faster. Most players will dig down in all 3 corners of the hex and take note of at what depth they find things and triangulate the ore deposits.

I really hate these changes for a ton of reasons, but one of the main ones is it screws over new players real hard, but 30k/hr is insanely low.

    What timezone are you in?

I am very much looking forward to the industry changes, even with my small factory setup.

When I think tiny setup I think this: ris8bc1l60q51.png

When I think small scale I think this: a6cwgfphvyr51.png

Anything large scale, if it truly requires billions to set up, is going to be unobtainable to the vast majority of small orgs so, no, I personally am not looking forward to this.

  7. If WA was still alive I probably wouldn't be playing this game.

And the only reason WA is gone is because they had no realistic revenue stream such as subscriptions.

Flush out content first. Then figure out how resource gathering should be balanced. Every single time I watch a video about PvP I am thinking to myself "who finds this fun?" And there is no PvE either. Unless you count digging holes in the ground. Which I don't.

If Novaquark really wants people to make cool designs with no purpose just subsidize Maya subscriptions in favor of playing this game. Their software is a billion times better at 3D modeling than the voxelmancy this game demands.

Not seen ready player one, or got any idea what it is about.  Might be because i am old.  I think i get what you are talking about BUT, it is possible to create a game where both can exsist.  Where the hardcore players create the gameworld for the others.  Of course it would take the right mechanics and improved game stability and performance but it can be done.  Would give examples but rushing a cracking ship build at the moment.

tl;dr brilliant programmer makes a persistent online one shard virtual reality MMO and hides a piece of content behind a series of puzzles that only no-lifers have a chance of cracking.

    Good movie. I recommend it.

  9. In original WoW there was an instance released called Naxxramas. It was the last raid released before Burning Crusade came out.

The mechanics were amazing. Complicated boss fights requiring significant coordination. Only problem was that it was so difficult that only, iirc, ~2% of guilds ever successfully cleared it.

They ended up bringing it back in Wrath of the Lich King so that players actually had a chance to experience the content because Blizzard realized it was stupid to spend so much time creating content that very few people would ever see.

    My two cents.

  10. Go into build mode, right click on the pilot's seat. Run default auto configure, and then there should be some default options available.  You want flying construct. You're not changing the default config, you're resetting it.

Unless you import the one Mordiger linked which you should do at some point when you're more familiar with the game. It's a fantastic LUA.

Did I say you shouldn't be able to lose anything.  If I did I didn't mean it.   Some loss if fine but If I have to spend 100 hours mining for every 10 mins of PvP, that would suck.  To get good at PvP you have to lose ships.  If losses are too expensive people wont participate and only the glitchers, exploiters and cheaters will be able to afford to do PvP and they will end up really good at it because they can afford to lose ships.

Misunderstood, then. Yeah it will have to be tweaked but that's part of game balancing which is a separate discussion.

Having said that, there will always be orgs with people interested in different areas of the game. In EvE corps have people interested in trading, others mining, others setting up industry, others theorycrafting ships, and others doing the actual PvP.

I hope there is some reason for people to join large corps and/or alliances, which would lead to large fights.

The main thing I want to do in this game is PvP.  If the game needs a resource sink, please dont make it PVP.  Let something else be your resource sink.  If PvP becomes too expensive then average players will simply avoid PvP because they cant afford to participate.

You absolutely should be able to lose elements from PvP. PvP should have very real risk. In my opinion, that's what makes it fun.

    Ok.

Profit is not dependent on your next two statements.
